12 The Collective Unconsciousness

His eyes shone bright as the eyes of every single person he could see, lit up. It was like he was watching Avatar the Last Airbender all over again but this time with millions of past lives.

"She is us as much as we are her" Zax continued

Maxwell watched in confusion as to what he had gotten himself into.

His Parademon body was starting to look better compared to dealing with this.

"Is this some kind of we are all connected type of thing?" Maxwell asked.

Despite his relaxed attitude, his mind was racing. He may not be an expert in all things DC but he knew about major powers and something like this was definitely a major power.

He had never even heard about any people like Zax. The Martians didn't have the two grooves they had on their heads, Martians didn't even have that much of a humanoid body.

"Yes, Nous is all of us as we are her including you and if you succeed in what you are doing, you alone will become her champion. My duty is to ask, will you accept her?"

"As long as 'she' doesn't take control of my mind or any stuff like that" Maxwell answered.

At this point, he honestly couldn't care less about what this 'Nous' was but if he was already connected to it then how much of a difference would it make now.

"No, my friend, you do not understand… You are about to take on a power shared collectively amongst all of my people. The power of a trillion minds"

It was It.

"The Collective Unconsciousness, Nous is the sage Force isn't it?" Maxwell said figuring it all out.

There was only one thing in the whole of DC that possessed such power or capabilities. The Sage Force.

It was the collective consciousness and unconsciousness of the entire multiverse which meant that every idea, thought or psionic power used all comes from it.

Even the Martians worshipped it as a god and so did the Apes of Grodd's city.

"Whatever you call her, do you accept her?"

"Sure why not, I would need every single power I can get" Maxwell answered without much thinking anymore.

Truthfully though he wasn't too sure if this 'Nous' was the Sage Force or just a being who had used its power to create a hive mind.

However either way, he had the advantage here, if it was the Sage Force then the power was welcome. If it was a hive mind then his mind wasn't fully organic so good luck to it on controlling him.

"Then I wish you luck on your journey my friend"

"And the same to you" Maxwell said as he smiled and bowed a bit while giving an exaggerated pose.

"If only we met on better circumstances" Zax said

"Honestly this was probably the best option" Maxwell thought before he saw the once bright place slowly descend back into darkness.

Soon after everything slowly began to turn red as he suddenly found himself within what looked like a furnace. There were flames everywhere.

By instinct after many years of fire training in his past life, Maxwell immediately tried to drop and roll only to hit a wall as his senses finally returned.

....

For MC's Appearance, refer to the Book Cover and also that is how Zax's people look.

They don't exist within the DC Universe though, they are OCs based on the Martians
