Tricked

The tension between Jay and Flag grew as they stood there, their conflicting objectives weighing heavily on their minds. Flag knew that leading Jay to Victor's office would bring them closer to their mission's target, but Jay's concern for his sister was pulling him in the opposite direction.

"This is the way to Victor's office." Flag stated simply, pointing down the vast hallway. Jay was silent for a few seconds as he breathed audibly due to running for long periods.

"Flag. My sister." Jay kept his words limited. He didn't know much about Flag, however, he knew he was different to Waller. Innocent lives didn't matter to her as long as it meant she could accomplish her goal. Jay could tell from Flag's contradicted eyes that he wasn't the same.

And he was right. Flag felt a conflicting wave of emotions flow through him. His sense of mission and personal feelings constantly clashed as he failed to make a decision. He was no stranger to allowing his feelings to conflict with his professionalism. He remembered when he once stood in the same position Jay was currently in, not thinking for a moment as he allowed his emotional heart to judge his actions. But he knew he couldn't think for long. He had to make a decision.

"Fine…" Before he could finish his words, a voice came through the communication device they stole from the Ninjas.

"Is this thing working? That girl barely told us how to use it. Oh, whatever. Guys, if you can hear me, the blueberry pie is still raw." Harley spoke through the device and the two instantly noticed her distinct accent and tone. As for her words, it didn't take long for the two opposed men to figure out what she meant, seeing as how she wouldn't stop talking about it on their trip here.

Harley, Deadshot, King Shark and Captain Boomerang all stood in a large luxurious bedroom as Harley held the communication device to her mouth. The large king-sized bed with gold frames and silver mattress, covered in a silk duvet and silk pillow took up most of the room as Captain Boomerang wrinkled the once-perfect bed by throwing himself on it and taking a nap. Harley sat in a chair, her feet resting on the desk before her.

Jay and Flag then looked at each other again. They now knew for a fact that Victor was in his office, down the hallway to where Flag stood. Jay stared at him with sympathetic eyes as every second weighed on him, knowing he had no time to lose. All he could do was put his trust in Flag, hoping he was right about the man. Despite this wrinkle in the mission, Flag kept his mind focused, confidence brewing in him as he opened his mouth to make a decision. However, before he could, the walkie-talkie on Flag's shoulder which had once been made unusable due to the interference started to make noises.

"It took a while to bypass whatever they used to jam the signals. Mr Harrison, stay focused on the mission. You're here to do one thing." Waller spoke, her words barely being heard over the interference, as one could hear it starting to subside. She spoke in her usual monotone voice; her cold words making Jay grit his teeth in anger.

"Don't talk to me about the mission I was forced into! You know damn well my goals don't align with yours!" He yelled, frustrated at Waller's interruption. However, his words seemed to fall on deaf ears as his anger had reached its threshold. Just as Jay thought things couldn't get much worse, he was proven wrong as the next words he heard made his heart sink.

"We're currently in pursuit of Lady Amelia. She's heading to the second floor and… she's hard to keep up with." Said a man through the Ninja communication device. As Jay stared at the device, his heart beating rapidly, Flag couldn't help but feel confused. Why was she heading to the second floor?

For a few seconds, everything went quiet as they listened in for the next words that came through the device. The fountain beside that splashed with water and had become a white noise due to the intensity of the situation.

"She's hard to catch. It seems she's heading to the dining hall. But…" Before the man could finish his words, a grunt was heard as he went silent, a new voice speaking through the device.

"All units head to the dining hall on the second floor. Allow us to handle this Mr Lawrance. You know our zero policy for traitors. Isn't that right, Jayson?" The voice that spoke was different to the previous one. It dripped with a cocky aura and mock. Hearing this, Jay stopped breathing for a few seconds. He felt a cold feeling run through his spine as his pounding heart became audible to even Flag who was a good distance away from him, the colonel staring at the sweating Jaw who wore a dark face.

Without a word, Jay started to walk through the Hallway that led to his sister, away from his original destination.

"Harrison…" Flag called out and was met with a rage-induced Jay with blood-lusted eyes. However, through all that, his hands shook with strong emotion.

"That was the Hexagon! If I go with you now, she'll die! Screw the mission!" Said Jay, leaving Flag without words. Only now did he understand Jay's shakiness. He was scared. Despite wondering how the Hexagon had even gotten here, he knew he had a bigger problem before him right now, but he didn't know how to deal with it.

"Colonel, if Mr Harrison takes one more step, I order you to eliminate him." Said Waller, listening in to the previous conversation. To this, Jay swung his body around as he summoned his sword, pointing it at Flag as it glowed slightly. Flag quickly responded to this by hovering his finger over a small screen on his forearm, showing a picture of Jay.

"Think about what you're doing, Harrison. You won't be able to save anyone if you're dead." Spoke Flag as they both stared at their potential demise. Their heart threatened to jump out of their chest, knowing that any mistake could mean their death.

"Which do you think moves faster? My beams or your finger?" Jay asked, the glow on his sword becoming bigger. Despite Flag's understanding of the opposition's words, he was currently stuck between a rock and a hard place. He was given a direct order that clashed with his morals. And it didn't help that Jay was currently pointing his weapon at him. Meanwhile, Jay looked for the perfect way to instantly kill his foe. Despite knowing he would be walking into certain death against the Hexagon, it wasn't enough to make him abandon those he cared for.

"Jayson?" All the tension and pressure that hung in the air had seemingly come to a halt, stopped by an innocent and kind voice. One that Jay would always know. He slowly turned his head, uncertainty filling his mind. Was it a trick? Frankly, he didn't care. He had longed to hear this voice once more and he wasn't going to let anything stand in his way.

"Amelia?" He said hesitantly, his eyes slowly started to become distorted due to his held-back tears. Before him stood a female with brunette hair and shiny striking features. Her big bright blue eyes which were almost identical to that of Jay's, started to become filled with tears as her lips started to curl.

Despite Jay's longing for the day he would be reunited with Amelia, he felt an absence of words coming to mind. He didn't know what to do or say. Perhaps he was getting cold feet or maybe he was still sceptical about the person before him being his sister. These thoughts ran through his head, however, deep down, he knew the real reason. He felt guilty. How could a scumbag like him make up for all the times he screwed up? Did he deserve to even look at Amelia, knowing he had let her down over and over? Did she hate him? Thinking of all this, he spoke.

"Amelia… I-I'm sorry…" Before he could finish his words, he witnessed the very person he was speaking to leap at him, wrapping him around in her arms. Jay was lost for words, his eyes widened in surprise.

"Shut up, you big idiot." Said Amelia, her words dripping with happiness and relief as her face was split between smiles and cries, tears pouring down her face.

Jay slowly enveloped his arms around her and his face eventually changed as he stopped resisting the urge to cry, letting his emotions that had been built up over the years break free. They fell to their knees as they embraced each other, not wanting to let go as cries filled the area they were in.

Flag said nothing as he lowered his hands, not wanting to interrupt the moment, his usual serious demeanour not changing. However, this time it was different, as if he allowed a tinge of emotion to seep out.

"Ms Harrison, what happened? How are you here?" Flag tried not to interrupt their reunion. However, knowing they could be ambushed at any moment, he didn't have a choice. Amelia looked at him while rubbing the tears off her face. She turned her head to Jay who looked at her.

"On my way here, I met a boy." Saying this, both Jay and Flag looked at each other with wide eyes. Jay rushed to his pockets and pulled out one of the Ninja's communication devices, speaking in it.

"Isaac! Are you there?" He asked, hoping for a response.

"How the hell do I use this crap? Can you hear me?" Asked a familiar voice.

"We can hear you. What's happening?" Asked Flag, leaning into the communications device.

"It was awfully easy to fool these guys. Your sister's gas works wonders, Jay. These idiots were chasing me all day thinking I was her." Said Isaac with a mischievous chuckle.

"You did good, kid. Now get outta there. The Hexagon are on your way." Said Flag, slight emotions of sympathy seeping into his voice.

"I know. That's why I'm waiting for them." Stated Isaac. As he said this, one could see him sitting on the body of a knocked-out Ninja and dozens of others littered across the ground. What was once a vast dining hall, as evidenced by the countless broken china and the large broken tables and chairs, as well as a chandelier that had fallen from the ceiling onto the shining wooden floorboard, painting the ground in a hue of orange glass, had now turned into a clearing fit to be called a battleground.

Isaac sat with a nonchalant demeanour as he rested his head on his palm, a smile showing on his face.

"Don't do it. Look I'll admit it, you're tough, but you're no match for them. I still need to pay you back for saving my sister." He said, letting out the last sentence after a few seconds.

"He's right. Please, don't sacrifice your life just for us." Added Amelia, clear that her words were sincere.

"If I leave now they'll just come after us anyway. I'll deal with them while you guys catch the fashion dude. And I won't die. I'll be back and you can thank me then." Isaac said this with a smile as he placed the communication device in his pocket, standing up to greet the six individuals who suddenly entered the room, exuding a suffocating aura of bloodlust and power. Despite this, Isaac seemed unfazed. In fact, it's as if this all fired him up more as he grinned from ear to ear, fixing his loosened tie.

"Greetings, bigshots. Are you ready to get your ass kicked?"
