32 Infiltration

The jet touched the ground as the engine powered down. Everyone in the vicinity covered their face at the sudden strong winds that kicked up piles of sand and dust on the ground. Isaac watched the jet with sparkling eyes as the aircraft's door slowly opened downward. Although Isaac was the only one who seemed to be surprised by this spectacle, it didn't mean the Jet wasn't an astonishing sight.

The black Jet exuded a sense of sleekness and sophistication. Its exterior was painted in a glossy black finish, which gave it a distinct impressive appearance. Its streamlined fuselage, sweptback wings and advanced propulsion systems emphasised its high-performance capabilities.

Isaac couldn't close his mouth as he felt a deep need to touch the aircraft. As he thought this, the team started to walk toward the Jet without saying anything, as if they had done this before. Isaac slowly followed behind, passing countless soldiers. He spotted Flag part from the group as he spoke with a few SWAT officers. They handed him a clipboard which he thoroughly looked at with a serious face.

Isaac slowly walked toward the Jet while also sneakily moving closer to Flag. As he did, he caught a glimpse of the contents of the clipboard. It was only for a split second, however, he was able to notice a prominent few words.

"What's the League of Shadows?" He asked, prompting Flag to hand the clipboard to the officer and reply in an aggressive tone.

"They're none of your business. Get on the Jet." He said, clearly not liking the fact of Isaac being nosy. Isaac remained unfazed as he walked calmly to the Jet with a straight face. He walked on the ramp of the Jet, leading upwards, only to find the rest of the Suicide Squad already seated and ready.

He looked around and saw two rows of seats facing opposite each other. After a few seconds, he quickly found an empty chair between Harley and Jay. Normally, the Jet would have more seats available, however, the blue and white giant that was Nanaue occupied most of them.

He casually walked over, sitting between them, and very quickly Isaac started to feel an awkward presence around him. With Harley busy fixing her makeup and staring in a mirror, it left Isaac and Jay sitting beside each other, not saying a word. Isaac could only hope Harley's frequent and random comments could get him out of this situation.

"When are you guys gonna listen to me about my idea of creating a new secret language? Like, when we catch this Lawrence guy, we should say something like 'The Blueberry pie has been cooked'." She said while still staring at her mirror.

"You're just taking English words and using them to make sentences with nonsensical meanings. That wouldn't count as a new language." Said Floyd, prompting Harley to lower her mirror and look straight at him with an unamused face.

"Geez, you're no fun." While all this happened, the uncomfortable aura that surrounded Isaac and Jay still hung in the air. In an attempt to lighten the boring mood, Isaac started to speak.

"So why did you come to Ravenwood?" He asked Jay after finding the perfect position to sit in. Despite his obvious curiosity toward the Metahuman, Isaac was met with stony silence. He sighed as he prepared for the long trip of silence and boredom before he heard Jay speak.

"I initially went there to escape. The Hexagon wanted my head. Traitors are something they greatly despised and they weren't willing to let me get away. Only I did and I sought refuge in Ravenwood. I had heard it was recently vacant of its usual gangs and criminals, so I didn't think it would be too hard for me, a Metahuman, to claim the territory as mine. Until I was kicked in the chest and handed over to Argus." He said, giving a detailed answer but also making Isaac turn away in embarrassment after the last sentence, condemning his big mouth for asking questions.

"Is that all?" Asked Floyd, noticing Jay's somewhat withdrawn self. Jay glanced at Flag who wore a face of disinterest. Reluctantly, Jay continued with strained words.

"My primary goal was to gather forces and potentially other Metahumans in an attempt to war against Victor and the Hexagon." He confessed, prompting everyone to raise an eyebrow.

"Considering how to talk of the Hexagon, I'd think you'd be the last person to go through with such an idiotic plan." Said George in his usual thick Australian accent. Despite George not making the most intelligent comments most of the time, everyone else couldn't help but nod and agree.

"My purpose wasn't to kill or beat the syndicate in the war, I expected to lose. I planned on using my men as pawns while I carried out my true objective."

"Wait a minute, back when we first met, you asked me to join your gang. Are you telling me you were going to sacrifice me?" Asked Isaac as his face lit up after remembering this.

"Yes." He answered simply without hesitation.

"For such a smart plan you sure fell on your face. Was the war really that important? Anyone in your position would run and not look back." Said Harley, making everyone turn their heads to her. It wasn't often that they would see Harley being Logical.

"Usually I would too. But I couldn't. They have something important to me." After a few seconds of silence, Floyd looked over to Flag as he started to speak.

"Tell us more about these Hexagon folks. What are their abilities?" He asked, and surprisingly, Flag gave a straightforward answer without his usual unenthusiasm and disgust seeping into his words.

"We don't know much about them. According to Mr Harrison, whoever witnesses their power usually never lives to tell the tale. But there's no need to worry about that. We're currently heading to Victor Lawrence's manor. We are almost one hundred per cent sure they aren't there." Explained Flag.

Isaac was slightly confused about the relationship these two had after hearing how Flag spoke to Floyd. It was clear they didn't have much in common and they didn't have the same outlook on life. Meaning the only explanation was they didn't respect each other as people, however, they did appreciate one another as warriors.

"Despite this, the mansion is still heavily guarded. We'll be fighting our way in and out of the manor." As Flag said this, he and the rest of them heard a muffled voice come from the visible cockpit.

"We're here!" Yelled the pilot. Without saying a word, Flag removed his seatbelt, stood up and staggered toward the corner of the aircraft. He rummaged through what looked to be objects with fabric, and soon, he pulled out backpacks and threw them to everyone.

The rest of the Suicide Squad stood up and swung the backpack on their back, zipping it across their chest, except for Nanaue who carried on reading his book. Isaac looked around, eyes widened as he waited for what he expected to come next.

In the next second, the aircraft door slowly lowered as strong winds violently shook the passengers. It became slightly harder to breathe as most of them covered their eyes at the sudden waft.

"Are we going to…?" Harley stared at Isaac with what seemed to be a disappointed look while everyone else glanced at him. As Isaac couldn't find it in himself to finish his sentence, his voice barely audible through the strong winds, Flag spoke with a tinge of mock in his voice.

"What's wrong, kid? Scared of heights…?" In a blurring moment, before Flag could even finish his words, Isaac zoomed past him, leaping from the aircraft with the parachute on his back.

"Hahaha, what are you waiting for?!" Yelled Isaac, laughing loudly and grinning from ear to ear as he became lost in the clouds. Harley slowly smiled widely as she laughed, jumping after him.

"I knew you weren't a wuss!" She said while laughing. Flag stared at the disappeared boy as he slowly grinned and touched a device in his ear.

"Beginning infiltration."
