9 Chapter 8

The Ravenclaw dorms were pretty great.

Unlike the Gryffindor dorm, if they were as they were in the books, they didn't have to share as they all had their own rooms. A place for them to listen to their thoughts alone as the prefects had described.

To me it was a safe place where I could ran away from the children who were trying to… <shudder> socialize with me.

Maybe I didn't think things through as much as I thought when I accepted that Hogwarts letter.

Bah, no matter. I was a man who could manipulate the four fundamental forces of the universe, I could deal with some dumb kids.

Though now I had a different concern. The orphanage.

No lies, I did not want to go back there. I also did not want to deal with pesky law officer who would try to do the 'right' thing and take me back there so I needed to find a way out of the orphanage in a legal way. It made me feel dirty.

That was one of the reasons I came to Hogwarts, to scout out a potential family for myself. Was it ridiculous that I had signed up for a magic school with the intention of getting adopted? Maybe. Did I care? Nope!

And sure, I could do the same thing in the orphanage with some normal couple after playing with their minds but I didn't really like that idea. Not because of being in a ordinary house with simple parents, even if that did sound damn boring, but because playing with a person's mind like that tended to leave… rough edges around their minds.

I honestly had no problem with doing that to someone like Voldemort or Joker or Lex Luthor or etc. But doing it to some normal guy and gal, who have nothing to do with the world of supers other than being potential victims, felt too much like a dick move. I didn't like dick moves unless I actually got something from it or if my victim was an asshole.

But I technically had a perfect guy who could adopt me in Wizard World and leave me to my own devices most of the time.

I just had to get him out of prison.

Yep, just had to take the twins' map and then show it to a teacher that Pettigrew is in the school. That knowledge will go to Dumbledore and that will end up with the poor doggie boi getting a proper trial that will clean his name.

Or maybe not since many Death Eaters had ended up getting off scot free so there probably would be some rumors about him just getting out late or some dumb shit like that.

Not that it would matter since he would have Dumbledore on his side and the old man probably would inform me of these events and show himself as a super cool grandfather headmaster.

Sure this could also end up with Dumbledore turning out to be the evil mind master that the fandom believed him to be and try to get rid of me.

Which would be a problem but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a hearty explosion of electromagnetic blasts and radiation. Wizards might be somewhat impressive but something tells me that they wouldn't expect an eleven year old to have power to blow up the castle.

Didn't matter anyway since I wouldn't use the plan for a month. In which I would be getting acquainted with the teachers and some other students. There were few that had my interest after all.

One of them made me especially giddy as I sat in the Defense against the Dark Arts, or DADA for short, in a position where I could look at her without drawing suspicion from anyone else. Not that 'anyone else' would pay attention to me since everyone in the room were too busy trying to understand anything from Quirrell's lecture which was a mess of stuttering.

The guy was actually good at acting as a little coward, I may have actually been fooled if I didn't know that he was the villain of the first book. Or if I couldn't sense the mess of negative emotions coming from the back of his head, courtesy of a certain dark lord tumor growing out of it.

Getting off point. The one who actually had my attention was one Daphne Greengrass who was sitting before me. The blonde girl, who was nothing more than a wallflower in the books and practically the best waifu in the fandom, was far more special than any of the other students with the exception of myself and possibly Violet.

The girl had impressive shields around her mind, nothing that could stop me from getting in but from what I could see the shields were constantly getting attacked. And I mean constantly, the girl was trying to keep something out of her mind and I realized what after I took a closer look behind her shields.

The girl had a Jean Grey situation.

Yep, Daphne Greengrass was an actual telepath and she likely had been taught Occlumency by her parents or some other figure in her life in order to keep the thoughts of others out of her mind. And she was even somewhat successful at it.

Sure a few thoughts would enter inside but that was one out of a hundred, sometimes one out of two hundred even!

As I delved deeper into her mind, her ability was impressive but it was untrained and I was a competent telepath so she had no chances of sensing it, I learned that she had leaned Occlumency from her father who made her understand how dangerous it could be if people learned of her ability. Damian Greengrass looked like a good man but that could be the bias from Daphne's thoughts. The girl was very proud of her family and father who had made their fortune in his youth.

This was wonderful for me. Daphne was now in the top of the interest list with Violet with both of them surpassing Hermione Granger and Dumbledore. A rich blond telepath, scummy as it might sound my wishes seemed to have come true. I had a girl near me who could become this universe's Emma Frost!
