15 Chapter 14

As I watched Daphne leave with a promise of coming to see him tomorrow here after classes, I couldn't help but think that today went well.

Especially with all that I learned from Daphne's mind.

It was mostly checking whether things I learned about her family was true. They were one of the wealthiest families in all Britain with her father being the one who made most of their fortune. He is also said to be a very strong wizard but I am not sure whether that's true or just people sucking up to him because he's rich.

Her sister seemed to have a curse that can complicate her life sometimes but other than that she seems to a hyperactive little shit. A cute one though so I would have to look up for a cute for her.

Other than that it seems like her parents were quite frightened about what could happen if people learned about Daphne's telepathy and tried their best to help her through it.

I would have to talk with them after Daphne realizes that someone who is practically a stranger knowing her ability is one of the things her father had earned her about. Meaning she would tell them and they would try to discern my intentions.

I should prepare for that talk. But before that…

I went next to Libra and then started using my own powers in order to make her forget about the last few minutes before I came here and created some fake memories about being attacked by Peeves. Had to make it believable so I went to her back and…

"WEDGIE!" Pulled her undies over her face and left!

Was it immature of me? Yes.

Did I care about that? Not particularly.

Would I ever regret it? NOPE!

"So, how's it hanging?" I asked Violet as I sat down beside her at the table and pulled some of the mashed potatoes and some pork chops to my plate.

"Not good, I have double Potions next." She said with a voice that screamed 'pity me'.

"Is that bad?" I asked, I had thought that Violet being a girl could have stopped the worse of Snape bullying due to her being more similar to her mother rather than her father. But I guess having 'Lily with Potter's hair' instead of 'Potter with Lily's eyes' might not have been that much of an improvement for dear Severus.

"It's not… bad. It's just… Professor Snape always urges me to do better. That I can do better. I kinda like it but… it's also a bit tiring." Huh, guess I got the wrong idea. Instead of bullying Snape was being a tough teacher who expected best of his students?

"Is it the same with other students?" I asked as I put some of the meat in my mouth, it was delicious.

"No, he tends to just grade Slytherins and mock Gryffindors other than me. And he always stays away from Neville but I think that's more of an self preservation kind of a thing." Yeah, can't blame the guy for staying away from the potential health hazards.

"I think you should talk to him. From what I understand, he is singling you out but somehow he is not being… evil about it. So I think you should be able to talk about it." I said. What was the harm in talking since this Snape sounds like a better guy than the one in the books.

If it turns out to be a bad idea I'll just lobotomize him.

Speaking of lobotomize, I probably should do something about Quirrel and his trusty back of the head tumor mentor Voldemort. He wouldn't get a chance to make an attempt at Violet since she wouldn't be playing in any Quidditch matches but still, better safe than sorry.

And Daphne too, we would be having our first lesson soon. Hopefully the little blond is ready cause I expect perfection from my potential Emma Frost.

"Whelp, I am pretty sure it's not something bad." I said.

"Hey, John…"

"It's Jonathan, please do use my full name Seamus."

"Yeah, ok. It's just… what are you doing here?" The master of making his spells explode in his face asked me.

"I am obviously eating Seamus." I said with a 'are you stupid' voice that would make Snape proud.

"But… this is Gryffindor table."

"And I don't care." I said and that seemed to satisfy Finnigan as he shrugged and went back to talking with his friends.

I hate this school's inefficient housing system.

Whelp, I should probably start preparing my lesson for Daphne. But before that, there was something I had to deliver.

"No, not this either." Dumbledore said as he threw the book in his hand across the room and pulled another one from one of his many shelves. A necessity since everyone seemed to only buy books as gifts for him. He would have liked to get some nice socks or something for once. Like the ones his mother…

Not the point.

He still had work to do. He had to find something, anything, that could help him remove Violet Potter from the Dursleys without her custody ending up with Lucius Malfoy. If that happened he would have no choice but to kill that blonde peacock and go to Azkaban for murder. And Azkaban wasn't exactly a suitable place to make preparations for Voldemort's eventual return.

Though he could deal with his followers there…

No, he was needed in Hogwarts and if Voldemort returned while he wasn't available, that could end up in a disaster. So he had to deal with his problems with legal methods.

Sometimes he hated being the good guy.

Before he could think about more about the problems with having morals, somebody knocked on his door. Well more like the Gargoyle statue outside his office but really, semantics.

So he activated the ward that moved the statue and another ward told him the identity of his visitor.

"Hello, mister Richards. Admittedly I wasn't expecting anyone to come here, otherwise I would have prepared tea. But I do have some lemon drops if you'd like."

"Thanks headmaster." The young man said as he took a handful of sweets. Seems like the kid had good taste.

"Now, mister Richards, was there any reason you came here?"

"Oh yes." The young man said as his hand went to his pocket before he pulled out a… parchment?

"Here sir." Jonathan gave the parchment to Dumbledore, whose eyes widened as he saw what the parchment was.

A map. A map of Hogwarts, with many dots moving around that each represented one of the many people in the castle.

"How?"

"I found it in the library a few day ago, sir. I've been trying to understand how it works but something I saw today… I had to inform you sir." The young man said, looking very nervous.

"And what is it my boy?" Dumbledore said and young Jonathan pointed to a certain point on the map. A point in the Gryffindor dorms that had a name that made Dumbledore's eyes widen as he read the name.

"I think there is a corpse in the school sir."

Peter Pettigrew.
