DC: Gunmetal

Leo was always just enjoying life, whether it be playing games with friends, partying late at night, or dancing with a girl no one else would, he simply lived his life. He couldn't call himself a good or bad person, simply being another human, but his own heroic action got him shot. Did he learn to not be a hero? No, in fact when he suddenly woke up with a game-like system in front of his face, giving him a pistol that magically took enemies down, but didn't kill them? He decided he would become a superhero... Too bad he didn't notice that someone was watching, someone that he'd never thought he'd see outside a game he played once. ------------- Fair warning, I know almost nothing about DC, so anything you see that might not be canon during certain times, or anything that seems out of place where Leo is, is just me adding things. This novel is purely so I can get more comfortable with the setting, the people, and what they do, as I try to write a good enough interpretation for the characters Leo meets. I am still doing some research while I write, but I will not be following any real 'Timeline.' Leo does fuck, just not right way.

Dropped into a sticky situation

Leo gripped the gun in his hand, it was a Brügger & Thomet USW-A1, its flavor text read something about a dude who punched boulders. It had no attachments but its weight and how it brought Leo a sensible amount of comfort to his mind as he held it he took a shaky breath.

Leo had been killed, at least he thought, but here he was in a classic situation where a 'Player' raids a warehouse with normal thugs. It was his mission apparently, the weapon in his hand would apparently 'Incompacitate' any he shot as long as he shot at them in the right area, but it wouldn't kill them.

Was he happy? Well, it was cool, seeing the system in front of him, feeling the weight of the gun... Was this just his eternal dream? Was his friend right when he said if he played games while sleep deprived he would dream of them as well?

A notification popped, causing him to jump, thankfully he did already have firearm training thanks to his Uncle being a police officer so he knew trigger discipline.

Along with additional military training, this was a lot easier.

[8 Enemies remain.]

[A new player is given a single gift to begin, choose a single attachment for the gun you wield.]

Another screen appeared, showing a 3D render of his gun, along with slots he could attach something to, he didn't even consider anything else. Picking out a suppressor attachment that seemed to digitize onto the gun.

With that the screens suddenly vanished, the only thing left on his screen was what looked to be an ammo count, seemed he had 17 rounds for the gun, and when he focused on how much he had left, he could also see what looked to be a magazine count which said four.

Leo took a few deep breaths, his body was younger, before his knee injury, so he had to be fifteen or sixteen, the way his hands fit around the gun told him all he needed to know as well.

Taking a slower breath he calmed himself, gripping the sidearm with both hands he began to walk forward against the side of a crate, he knew a suppressor wouldn't magically suppress the sound completely, and the many crates around the warehouse would cause the sound to bounce around, but it would be harder to identify his location.

Moving slowly he slowly peaked around the corner, seeing only one guy standing at the warehouse door, a flickering light above the door. The guy looked to be outside for a smoke break, muttering something about how bullshit it was for him to be out so late.

Steadying his stance as he lowered down to a knee he took aim. Taking his time before he made sure he had a bullet chambered and the safety off.

He then fired, he watched as it seemed something impacted the man directly in the head as he fell to the ground.

Something to note? His game suppressor really did magically suppress his round, it was barely audible.

Leo focused his senses, trying to hear anything around him before he moved, reaching up he used his gloved hands to unscrew the lightbulb.

He was positive he shot the man in the head, he even felt the kick of the gun and heard the shell casing hit the ground.

Kneeling next to the body he took note that the person was still breathing, just in a very deep sleep.

Searching the thug he found a gun, and when he lifted it into his own hand a screen appeared.

[Gun not Identified by the system, unable to use.]

Wondering what that meant, he noticed that when he picked it up, the trigger seemed to fade out, and when he put a finger to it, it went through.

Everything else about the gun still worked, just not the gun itself, unloading it he placed the ammo into his vest, which he appeared in as well. Wearing a black tactical vest, a black shirt, black tiger stripe camo pants, and a pair of combat boots.

It was on him when he 'Appeared', he noticed that when it was placed into his inventory, the mag count seemed to flash gently, but not move from the four it was on.

Placed in the inventory maybe, but not compatible with his current sidearm?

He noticed it also vanished from his vest with was strange, but since he was spending too long he began to slowly peak into the door, there was a large open warehouse with multiple crates in the center, guys sitting on a couch watching from a small T.V. and a few who seemed to be sleeping, but he counted only seven of them.

He slowly entered, closing the door behind him, thankfully the only good light was in the middle where they were, so he was able to slowly sling to the left as someone turned towards the door.

''Bill, you done with your cigarette yet? I want to have mine!''

When no sound came back the man spit onto the concrete floor. ''Must've gone to piss, the shy damsel.''

''Not everyone can piss in front of people, leave him alone.''

There was a soft sound, but it was drowned out by the sound of the T.V.

''You say that like he isn't packing some serious heat, if I had a dick that big, I would've definitely put it to good use.''

''Hey man, being average is okay, it's the motion of the ocean man.''

Another soft sound, drowned out by the T.V.

''Motion of the ocean, where the hell you hear that?''

''Read it on one of those sex ad's on facebook.''

''Haha! Everyime I see one of those it's talking about single hot moms in my area! I actually tried it once, got a virus on my phone.''

Another soft sound, this time there were two of them, the second one was just as the T.V. got a bit quite as it switched scenes.

''You hear that?''

''What? Sorry, I was to distracted by the hot fox on T.V. Look at her, she's standing next to Commissioner Gordan.''

There was a soft whistle before a child-like voice spoke. ''She's got a nice pair of tits for sure.''

''Wha--''

Another two suppressed rounds left his gun as he fired at both of them. Having taken out the sleeping ones and disarmed them as he did the ones before, he actually learned if he equipped the gun with a holster, it would also vanish. Despite him not being able to use it.

As the slumped into their chair, a soft chime was heard as his screen changed showing a mission complete with a few fireworks.

Another screen then appeared

[Loading Reward.]

Staring at the T.V. screen in the meantime, he stared at the news channel in confusion. The guy looked familiar... and the whole Commissioner Gordan?

There was suddenly a silent sound, on instinct Leo turned, raising his gun only to have it snatched from him as fast as he tried to pull it up, a solid hand hit against his chest as he was tossed to the floor.

The hit had exactly the amount of strength needed to knock the wind out of him, his vision clouding a bit.

Looking up at the person who had hit him, he felt his throat close up.

A large man, dressed in what looked to be a metal suit stood before him, cape and cowl, the whole shebang. But what got Leo so tongue-tied, was the fact the guy had a bat symbol across his chest and looked like he could grade cheese off his abs.

The soft notification sound to his left caused him to instinctively look over.

[Reward Loaded.]

[Meeting Batman.]

Leo passed out just as he finished reading the message.

Batman stood there, watching the boy that passed out for a few moment before lifting the gun to inspect it, trained hands checking the rounds, then the mag before he made sure it was loaded, pointing it to the side he tried to pull the trigger, only to notice that he couldn't pull it, even when he was putting a considerable amount of strength into it.

''DNA Locked? There is no extra technology... A gun that shoots but doesn't kill? Interesting, Alfred prepare a room, I'm bringing a guest.''
