1 The Estranged Saiyan 1

"Fire....fire and chaos. That's the first thing I remember, before I came to Earth, before I ended up being sent to God knows where. Even then that wasn't the worse part, the worse part was what happened when I opened my eyes...and found the one who would make me into who I am today."

{Warworld}

Outside of the planet's orbit, space warped and became a wormhole. What happened next was a pod of sorts barreling out of the wormhole, it the anomaly closing behind it. The pod continued to spiral downwards towards Warworld, heading to land on the world. As it entered the planet's atmosphere, the occupant inside began to be stirred awake. It was a small child with light brown skin, midnight black spikey hair, and a dark brown tail that hung on the seat they were in. It was a boy, more specifically he was a Saiyan, a Saiyan in the wrong universe. The pod came down and smacked against the barren wastes of Warworld. The impact created a small crater for the pod, unfortunately his arrival did not go unnoticed. Not far from the Saiyan pod, a craft was heading straight for it. The occupants inside armed with both bladed and projectile like weapons. Though it hardly meant anything to the one who lead these people. A tall, muscular male with yellow skin and crimson red eyes. He had an annoyed look on his face, annoyed that someone decided to enter his home uninvited.

Once the ship landed, he rose from a throne that was on the ship. His eyes becoming transfixed upon the crater that the craft made. With heavy footsteps that made a thud each time they collided with the ground, the man waved his hand to apprehend whomever resided within the pod. He folded his arms across his chest, expecting the matter to be handled, until reached the edge of the crater. The pod opened to reveal the small child sleeping peacefully inside. It wouldn't be long before the child opened their eyes, and began to see all those who stared back at him in confusion. "Lord Mongul, what would you have us do with this...baby?" One of the guards questioned unsure if he was prepared to kill a child. Mongul raised a brow and was about to say send the child into the pits. Until he halted himself, an idea came to mind, one that caused a crooked grin to form on his lips.

"I have a wonderful idea...bring the child and his pod back to the palace." Mongul ordered then turned and began to walk himself back to his ship.

The Saiyan child may not be aware now, but he was about to experience a life that many would not want...

{Earth, 20 Years Later}

The child sat within a ship, his body remained motionless and his face unreadable. He sported armor that looked similar to his people's Saiyan armor. The child was now a young man, his hair have grown to being spiked upwards unnaturally. He was well built, looking like a soldier, his face had a scar going down his left eye to his lips. It was obvious that what the child experienced on Warworld, changed him. "We're arriving at the Watchtower Kakumei!" A male voice called from the front of the vessel that he sat in. Kakumei slowly rose to his feet, a slight grunt leaving from his nostrils. Now at his full height, he was roughly 6"7, tall for his race, though not unnatural. Kakumei walked towards the cockpit of the ship that he was in, a Javelin was what it was called. He wasn't use to space travel, it was a new experience for him. Even the only reason that he could speak to this Superman was because he listened to the man speak. More like, he learned his language slowly and was able to tell what he said.

It took months of course, but it didn't rattle him. Learning something new was always a good experience for him. Kakumei joined his companion who glanced back at him and smiled cordially to him. He had short black hair with a cowlick that for whatever reason formed an "S" symbol on his forehead. Kal turned and pointed at a large cylinder like space station ahead. Kakumei paid no mind to the station, his attention was on the planet. It was far different from the wilderness of Warworld. He never knew that there could be so much blue in one area. "We're about to land, you'll be meeting everyone else, maybe even my dog if you're lucky." Kal informed, though the only thing that Kakumei understood out of that sentence was "meeting" and "dog". He was still learning how to speak English, so for now he would remain silent.

Kakumei watched as Kal piloted the Javelin into an opening hanger bay. His attention being on Earth somewhat, watching the planet leave his sight just as the hanger walls came into view. It wouldn't be long before the ship was situated on a platform, then Kal moved to power the ship down. When the Kryptonian rose to his feet, he was just a few feet shorter than Railon. Though he made up for that with his fine physique. He gave Kakumei a smile then gestured for him to follow him. The two walked out of the Javelin, and were met by a group who rushed over to meet them. The first was a woman who wore exposing armor, she quickly hugged Kal. The next was a man wearing a scarlet costume, with lightning bolt accents on it. Another figure who locked eyes with Kakumei stared at him with narrowed eyes. The man wore a dark attire and seemed to give off this aura of dominace around himself. The last two both wore green attire, though for one of them Kakumei knew immediately that it was a Green Lantern. He had faced a Green Lantern before...though it was under different circumstances.

The other green man looked to be an alien of sorts, he reminded Kakumei of those White Martians who fought with him in the Arena. "It's good to see you guys, you have no idea how much I missed you guys." Kal stated with obvious glee, then turned and gestured at Kakumei. The Saiyan looked at Kal and raised a brow at the Kryptonian. Kal was the most confusing Kryptonian that Kakumei had ever met, and he has only ever met two. When they had first met, Kal El was locked away across from Kakumei. The both of them were supposedly meant to fight each other to the death when Mongul said to. Before Kakumei could reminisce about his first time meeting Kal, he felt an intrusion into his mind. His black irises immediately landed on the green man. They narrowed onto him, and an aura began to surround him. He was about to kill this one for daring to enter his mind.

Kal noticing the hostility immediately rushed over to Kakumei. "Wait, wait, it's alright", he reassured, "J'onn whatever you're doing stop it, Kakumei is a little sensitive when it comes to telepaths. So for now just use your mouth." The Martian nodded his head and halted his intrusion.

"Kakumei?" Questioned the red suited man. Kal smirked then placed a hand on Kakumei's shoulder and turned to his friends.

"This guy is the reason why we were able to escape, his name's Kakumei and I'm not exactly sure what kind of species he is." Kal revealed, then saw the woman step forward and gave Kakumei a once over. She seemed to be studying him, as if a warrior eyeing another. Kakumei did the same, taking her figure in and came up with the conclusion that she seemed deadly...but her armor made her look ridiculous. Then again he has fought many different species, so he couldn't be too quick to judge.

"Can he understand us?" The dark suited man questioned, finally speaking for the first time. That was when the Green Lantern stepped forward and held his ring help.

"You guys might not be able to understand him, but I can", he assured, "My name's John Stewart, Green Lantern of this sector. Standing before you are the defenders of Earth, but we call ourselves the Justice League. That's Flash, Batman, and Wonder Woman. We have another member but she couldn't make it today because of lady issues." Wonder Woman gave him a glare causing John to hold his hands up in mock apology. "That said, it's nice to meet you Kakumei." John said then held his hand out to the Saiyan. The Saiyan looked down at his hand for a moment then looked at John with a blank stare.

"John, he doesn't know what handshakes are." Kal explained before coming to their side and showing an example to Kakumei. The Saiyan watched them then slowly nodded.

"Not that much of a talker, huh?" quipped Flash, but an elbow by Wonder Woman caused him to silence himself.

"Anyway, how did you two meet?" Wonder Woman asked, getting everyone else to set their gazes on Kal. Kakumei simply looked to the Kryptonian with a risen brow. "Well...it happened about a day after I showed up on Warworld.."

{3 Months Ago, Kal}

Kal El gritted his teeth and try as he might, the Man of Steel couldn't break open his cell. The Red Sun was to blame for that, Warworld orbited a red sun. He let out a frustrated breathe then punched the wall to let out his frustration. The wall cracked but didn't shatter like he was hoping for. This was due in fact that he was hoping that he had enough strength to break himself out. The sun of Warworld being a red one made sure that he wouldn't be at his peak. Kal turned while in his cell, noticing others who laid or sat around simply waiting. His sky blue eyes landing on each and every one of them until he noticing the occupant across from his cell. In the shadow, he could see a young man sitting still. With what he could see, was that the man across from him looked big. Standing an inch taller than him, he wore armor that he had never seen before being black and red.

What made Kal continue to stare at him was that the young man across from him was staring back at him. He could tell because of the red eyes that seemed to glare directly at him like a predator stalking their prey. Frowning, the Kryptonian stepped forth and began trying to make small talk with his fellow prisoner. "My name's Kal El, I'm a Kryptonian, can you understand me?" The Kryptonian questioned, but found no reply from the man sitting across from him. It wouldn't be long before Kal noticed something that made his brows furrow into confusion. The "belt" that the Kryptonian had assumed was around the man's waist shifted and moved. That was when Kal realized that it was a tail, a monkey like tail. Kal locked eyes with the man, noticing that he shifted to move into the light of his cell. The man said nothing for a moment, before uttering a single word that came out like a growl more than anything.

"Kryptonian..." The man stated dryly, causing Kal to feel as if he may have just unknowingly upset the man. What shocked the Kryptonian was when he started to speak in his own language, Kryptonian to be exact. With widening eyes, Kal watched the man speak to him in the Kryptonian tongue.

<You called yourself Kal, yes?>, The man replied, and waited for Kal to respond. The Kryptonian stood there dumbfounded for a moment before knocking himself out of his stupor.

<Yes>, Kal answered, <My name is Kal El, how do you know my people's language? Are you a Kryptonian of some kind?>

<No...I learned it from another Kryptonian who was in the same cell that you are now in.> The man revealed, watching Kal's smile grow plastered on his face.

<Is that Kryptonian still around by any chance?> Kal questioned quickly, then found the man tilt his head to the side. Slowly, the man raised his hands to reveal dried blood reaching from his fingers down to his knuckles.

<I killed them the day before you arrived here...> The man answered with a monotoned voice, as if he was already use to killing. The moment that Kal heard that his face contorted into shock and horror. He had been hoping that there were more of his people were alive, but now knowing that not only were they dead but they had been killed by the man whom he was talking to. It was horrifying and angering, knowing that one of his own was most likely killed mercilessly.

<You must have enjoyed killing them...> Kal commented dryly, sending a glare to the man. The Kryptonian had thought that the man was just a merciless murderer, but the next words that he heard made his heart sink in guilt.

<Preus was my first and only friend...I do not fight because I wish to but because it is nesscessary to live. I would have thought that another Kryptonian would understand that. It seems like that you are not as prepared to fight for your life as Preus was. I did not grow wanting to kill all things around me...it is simply how one must live here.> The man replied, and watched Kal frown and open his mouth to speak. Unfortunately he was cut off by several tall dozen guards in heavy armor storm their way to the man's cell. They shouted something in an unknown dialect before holding out staffs that crackled with electricity. The cell door opened for the man who glared at the guards. He slowly rose to his feet, glaring at them as if he were about to pounce. Even though his glare warned them to not touch him, he cooperated with them. Stepping out of his cell, he toward over the guards and began to walk away with them. <We shall see if you live Kryptonian, I hope you live..> The man called, causing Kal to stare after the man in concern.

The Kryptonian could hear the shouts and cheers overhead, another battle was about to he fought and this man was about to be in it. Kal didn't know if the man was going to live or die, only that they were the only one whom could understand him. <Wait, what's your name!?> Kal called after him while clinging to his cell.

The man had been escorted down the hall, heading towards a nearby lift. The Kryptonian only heard one reply, one name and he would remember to the present day.

<I am called Kakumei, the Demon Monkey..> Kakumei replied.

{Present Day, Kakumei}

"So both of you were across from each other AND he could speak Kryptonian?" Flash asked with curiosity and slight giddiness. The smaller and red costumed man looked up at Kakumei with a slight smile, then decided to try and make small talk with him. "So, what exactly are you?" Flash questioned, and waited for a moment for him to reply. The Saiyan however didn't reply, not because he didn't want to but because he didn't understand what Flash was saying. Almost immediately, Kal picked up on this and decided to act as an interpreter for the Saiyan.

<He asked what you were, Kakumei.> Kal translated in Kryptonian. The Saiyan nodded, then looked at Flash, his irises giving off a faint red hue.

<Saiyan..> Kakumei stated, but only found the Green Lantern and Kal understanding him.

"He said that he was a Saiyan", John translated, "I never heard of that species before...ring scan any references for a species codenamed 'Saiyan'." The Green Lantern waited for his ring to give him any relevant data on what a Saiyan. Yet he found nothing, no information whatsoever. This caused the emerald knight to frown before trying a different keyword. "Ring, give me any relevant data on Kakumei."

No sooner than he said that, the image of a young Kakumei appeared before the man. He watched as the individual known as Kakumei appeared before him from his ring in holographic form. It had it to where he was Wanted, with a bounty of up to 1,000,000 Credits. John's eyes widened as he stared at the information that he was receiving then looked to Kakumei waryingly. The Saiyan noticed the look that he received from the Lantern, and returned one of his own to him.

"Superman, get away from him", John warned, "He's wanted for the death and murder of a fellow Lantern."

Kal frowned, then stood resolute between the Lantern and the Saiyan. Causing the resident ape man to stare at Kal confused with a raised brow. "John I know that he's killed but it's not his fault, if it wasn't for him then I wouldn't have escaped Warworld altogether." Kal defended, causing the Lantern to change his attention to the Kryptonian cautiously.

"If you knew that he killed people then why didn't you tell us from the start?" Batman questioned, sending a glare towards Kakumei

"Knowing how you guys would react?", Kal pointed out, "I thought that it would be better to tell it to you slowly. Trust me, he is not a serial killer. He's a friend, besides I made a promise to him."

"Promise?" Wonder Woman spoke up curious rather than defensive about Kakumei.

Kal smirked, then glanced back to Kakumei who continued to stare at the Kryptonian. "I told him that I'd show him a world where he didn't have to fight...Kakumei grew up fighting people with no choice. Call it naive thinking, but I think that he doesn't want to kill anyone just because it's his only option. I promised him to give him a better option than to kill. If it means that I have to protect him from you, then so be it." Kal declared, watching his friends look between him and Kakumei.

There was a tense silence that lasted for a few moments, said silence ended when a loud growl was heard. All eyes centered on the Saiyan who had an emotionless expression on his face. The first to break the silence after hearing the growl was the Flash who let out a light chuckle. "Okay, yeah I'm with Supes on this one guys", the scarlet speedster stated, "Probably shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, plus I'm pretty sure that he's hungry."

"I agree", Wonder Woman concurred, "Kal has yet to be wrong when it came to one's character. And I have already determined that he does not view us as threats...well all but you John."

The Green Lantern raised a brow before looking to the Amazon. Kal let out a sigh of relief before turning to Kakumei. Then he began to speak in Kryptonian for the Saiyan to understand him. <Follow me, let's get you something to eat.> Kal spoke, getting a nod from the Saiyan.

It wouldn't be long before the Kryptonian began to guide the Saiyan out of the hanger bay. The two were closely followed by Flash and Wonder Woman. J'onn, John, and Batman however remained where they were. Watching the Saiyan with suspicious eyes, as if they were expecting the stranger to be a threat.

"J'onn, did you get anything when you tried to read his mind?" Batman questioned, and heard a sigh leave from the Martian's lips.

"This Saiyan's mind is quite formidable, he was able to detect my intrusion without so much as a nanosecond to pass", J'onn revealed, "Superman spoke truthfully, whatever telepath that the Saiyan had come across made sure that his mind would be shielded. Though his mental shielding is amateur, he has great potential to refine it."

"So we know that he has some form of telepathy then, anything else?" John asked as he turned to the Martian.

"There was something inside, something dormant, something...primal", J'onn revealed, "I do not know what it was...but it has yet to awaken. As far I understand, the Saiyan is unlike anything that we have encountered. That said, I am unsure as to what all he can do. Perhaps we should have questioned Kal before he became standoffish towards us."

"I will question Superman later, for now we need to keep an eye on this Saiyan", Batman decided, "He's something that we clearly haven't a clue about. Just make sure that if he turns out to be a threat to the safety of Earth, the both of you are ready."

Unbeknownst to the three heroes, a certain Kryptonian could hear them. As well as the resident Saiyan who sent a glance back at the trio. He wasn't offended by their stance towards him, he was curious as to what the Martian had referred to about something primal inside of him. Kakumei wasn't aware of this, what else was there that he didn't know about? Could he learn to use it?...Or will it use him?
