34: First attempt

"Well good for you," Wade said.

Sam nodded his head and then said, "Thanks, I still have to submit the mission and after that for some time I will be out of touch. As, I will be concentrating on my knowledge accumulation.

So only if it's an emergency, you can contact me otherwise, don't bother. As for the future missions, I think another year will be good for you Wade, to make your foundation strong then we can start the missions together." Sam advised.

Wade nodded, " Okay, so I will talk to you later."

Sam nodded back and went towards the mission area while the brunette haired girl followed behind him, she just nodded at Wade.

Wade didn't bother too much about this and went back to his room to start concocting potions.

Every apprentice in the Black Academy had a room of their own, as every individual has his secrets. This made sure that secrecy and safety were not an issue.

Wade locked the door and hung up a 'Do Not Disturb' sign, only then did he return to the room beside the bedroom.

A large table occupied the experiment room, and Wade's previously bought apparatus set had been placed on it.

"After a few attempts at practising, I am now a little more familiar with these apparatus, and I finished analysing the formula for the Energy Potion today, so it's about time to start!"

Wade muttered to himself and took out the green box containing the ingredients. He placed it on the table and opened it.

The green fruit, red stem and bottle of grey powder appeared before his eyes.

Wade's fingers stroked the surfaces of these 3 items, "Abby! Measure the activity within and establish a model!"

[Establishing scan, in the midst of compiling data, starting the construct!]

"Begin the simulation of the experiment!" Seeing Abby complete its task, Wade gave it another command.

[Simulation of model in process...Energy Potion Formula... Estimated time consumed: 1 hour 48 minutes!]

"As expected, it's possible to create a construct for potions!" Wade was delighted.

Even for identical ingredients, the slightest divergence would result in different outcomes when making the potion.

As for qualified Potions Masters, they must make use of their experience and put the theory into practice, then make adjustments to obtain the desired properties of the potion. This field only relied on raw talent and the future accumulation of experience.

As for Abby, it was able to scan and produce simulations, resulting in a success rate that was much higher than for many other acolytes.

Wade patiently waited for some time, and then heard Abby's voice,

[The simulation of the model is completed, success rate: 33.6%]

"A success rate close to one-third?" Wade was in ecstasy.

"A regular apprentice will always fail on their first few attempt at brewing potions. As for me, I'll be able to have a one in three chance of success if I follow Abby's construct?"

"Begin the construct for the experiment!"

[Beginning the transmission of data!] A few images flashed by Wade's eyes as if he had already practised making these potions countless of times.

Various scenarios and their suitable responses, as well as the preparation of ingredients, were all presented in front of him.

"It's time to start!" Wade's expression turned solemn, and he picked up a green fruit, "This is a Vitality Fruit and it contains a huge amount of nourishment."

Wade placed the Vitality Fruit into a white basin. He picked up a pounding tool and smashed the fruit into a pulp. The green juices flowed out, and an alcoholic scent was emitted from it.

After filtering out the mashed Vitality Fruit, Wade poured the green juice into test tubes and put them in the centrifuge.

This method was invented by Abby after the collection of data on elementary potion making and his past.

After that a magic burner had been lit, light blue flames continuously lapped at the bottom of the beaker.

Within minutes, the green juice in the beaker started to boil, and a few flecks of grey powder constantly jumped about in the bubbles.

Wade picked up the glass rod beside him and stirred the contents of the beaker.

" Energise!" Wade chanted in Maish.

A thread of mana travelled through the glass rod and entered the bubbling liquid, and a few wisps of grey gas continued to be produced. It was the poison inside the Vitality Fruit.

This was why only a Rank 1 Apprentice and above could start to practice making potions, as a few steps required the usage of mana.

After all of the grey gaseous substance were expelled, Wade placed the liquid, which was even more green than before, into a test tube.

"The first step is completed! The degree of purification isn't bad!"

"The next part should be the purification of the Crimson Root."

What Wade did next was to prepare the rest of the Vitality Fruit and Crimson Root together.

He failed somewhere in the middle for a few times, and finally succeeded after making the 9th batch of the green liquid and the 8th batch of the frozen crimson substance.

"The next step should be the final merging process!"

Wade placed the contents of the frozen crimson substance onto a petri dish, took out the grey powder from the glass bottle, and sprinkled it on top.

The grey powder caused a strong reaction after coming into contact with the frozen crimson substance. The frozen crimson substance continued to bulge and let out a buzzing noise.

"Freeze!" Wade muttered an incantation in the Maish language.

White mist suddenly appeared from the petri dish, condensing into a layer of ice and solidifying the frozen crimson substance yet again.

"It is time!" Wade placed the frozen lump into a beaker, where a flame blazed continuously underneath the beaker.

"The final step!" Wade's eyes widened, and he poured the purified green liquid into the beaker. A thread of his mana also continuously extended into the beaker.
