Chapter 45

The portal broke into pieces and scattered in the wind like star dust. The monsters who came out of the portal all dropped to the ground dead. Only the heavy breathing of the knights could be heard.

"Is it over?" Someone asked.

Haktor and Marionne looked at me.

"It's over." I said.

Haktor raised his weapon.

"It's over! We won!" He declared.

Sounds of cheering could be heard as the knights raised their own weapons.

"My lady." Sebastiene smiled at me.

"Seb, clean this up." I told him and faced the generals. "General Haktor please check for the remaining monsters with Seb. If there are wounded knights, please bring them to the infirmary."

I looked at the castle.

The guests must be feeling anxious with the attacks.

"Seb, after cleaning up, have the generals report to me."

Sebastiene nodded and started cleaning up. The knights were helping others who were injured and the others were cleaning up.

"Klent." I called. He had his back to me.

"My lady." Klent turned to me, a corpse of a four armed monkey was in his clean hands.

I frowned at the sight.

"Sir Klent, please choose twenty five people from the knights. I need them to do an escort mission." I instructed.

"I can choose from the other squads my lady?" He asked surprised.

"Yes, just inform them and tell them to come meet me at the main hall." I looked at him seriously. "Make sure they can work well together."

Klent bowed down and left to choose the knights.

I approached my father who wore a serious look on his face.

"Are you okay father?" I asked him. He was standing on the back of the bear like monster. He looked majestic, like a real warrior that just won a war.

Well, in a sense, he did.

"Did you see me fight that huge chicken?" He asked me seriously. I nodded. He looked at me with wide amazed eyes. "I now understand how those chickens when they fight in cockpits."

I looked at him weirdly. He just chuckled.

I guess he isn't that much affected by it.

"I'll go check on mother and the others." I told him and turned to the door.

I went back to the main hall.Counts Polit and Gandor and Viscount Rutchel were standing with their weapons ready. Mother was sitting in the chair behind them with Marrione's aunts and cousins. Saintess Sachi and Saintess Jubie were on the side talking quietly.

"My lady!" Viscount Rutchel approached me with a worried look. "How is it outside?"

"Everything is fine. The monsters have been eradicated." I told him. "Where is Saintess Karen?"

"She is at the infermary helping with the injured." The pretty Saintess Jubie answered.

I gave her a grateful smile and nodded.

"What happened my lady?" Count Gandor asked worriedly.

I looked at everyone and sighed.

"We are sorry for the unexpected happenings today. We have shown you an undesirable side to our house at the moment." I looked at them solemnly. "We will end the event for today. You will all be escorted to the portal and to your estates by our knights."

The old lady suddenly stood up and stomped towards me.

"Lady Castellan! How can we be sure that no monsters escaped and won't attack us?" She started flailing her hands everywhere. "You should let us stay the night at the very least. To ensure our safety."

I looked at her grimly.

"My lady, a portal popped out in the middle of our estate. Except us and our employees, only the six of you are not from here. Among the nine of you only Count Polit and tge three saintesses recieved an invitation." I gave her a meaningful look. "Would you really like to stay?"

She swallowed hard. She looked at everyone and saw how annoying she is in their eyes. She looked at me indignantly.

"My lady!" Klent suddenly came in with a group of men. "I have come with knights, as you ordered."

"Good." I looked at him. "Each team will go and escort a guest until they reach their estates. You can use the portal as you need."

"Yes my lady." They echoed.

"Escort the ladies first." I said without looking at the ladies.

The lady and her daughters gave me glares as they walked pass me.

"Who even are those people?" I asked to no one in particular.

"That was Countess Hanson and her daughters." Count Polit replied. "She has a reputation of being an attention seeker."

"You should prepare yourself my lady." Count Gandor warned. "What happened here would probably spread like wildfire among the noble circle."

I rubbed my temples.

Another headache.

'Sis.' I tried to call my sister in my head.

'Yeah?' Uriel's voice came.

'Do something to forbid that lady from spreading rumors.' I told her.

'How the heck am I gonna do that?' She asked.

Tsk!

"Don't worry about them my lady." Sachi came forward. "They will not be able to do anything."

A mysterious smile appeared on her face.

"Okay." I nodded at her.

The guests were all escorted safely across the portal.
