167 Chapter 167

I stood in front of the knights, waiting for the demon beast herd to come running towards us. On my left was Athy and on my right was Uriel. Klent, Loki, Astrid and even the Saintess, Sachi were standing behind us while the other Knights of Noktis were behind them. I was still wearing the dress I had on since this morning for the opening ceremony.

"I can't believe we are thrown into a battle on the first day we went out of our territory." Athy mumbled in an annoying tone.

"I can't believe we are fighting with demon beasts who numbers a hundred thousand times more than us." Uriel added, sighing at the turn of events.

"And I can't believe you are here, grumbling about it." I sarcastically said as I rolled my eyes at them.

"I just can't believe this is what I came here for." Uriel replied exaspiratedly, she even stomped her foot in annoyance.

Even I couldn't believe how our first time going out of the castle would turn to become a battle. Honestly, I was expecting a different kind of battle I was ready for the scorn, sarcasm, condescension even their admiration. But I was not expecting a physical battle among the noble ladies who are only good with words.

"I just wanted to enjoy the time I'm out of our territory, and this is what I get." Uriel mumbled, she was annoyed too.

"How about finishing this as soon as possible and get back to drinking tea with those kids?" Athy sarcastically replied to her.

"At least I'm not stuck with babies." Uriel retorted.

They started to bicker among themselves while I was stuck in the middle.

"The poison mist is up." I spoke suddenly making the two of them look in front of us.

Purplish fog started to accumulate the area where the demon beasts are expected to pass through. Astrid and Elaheh's abilities we really useful in making it possible.

"Get ready." Athy's eyes narrowed in front of us.

At first there were only soft multiple drumming sounds, like horses running. Then the sound grew louder and louder as it got closer, making the rocks and dirt on the ground vibrate. There were growling and howling sounds mixed with heavy panting.

"Are we fighting here?" Athy suddenly asked.

"What do you mean?" Uriel frowned as if Athy was asking something obvious. "Of course!"

"Too many eyes." Athy commented.

It was true, not just the royal family and their knights, there were other nobles here who wanted to check how strong, or weak, House Castellan has become. If we fight here in plain sight, Uriel and Athy's abilities might be found out and noble trouble would arise from it.

"Astrid!" I turned to look at the maid behind me. "Create a fog and make sure the people behind us cannot see us."

Astrid took one look at me before nodding, a thick fog rising from behind us after.

"They're here!" Athy shouted and summoned Heyva Sor.

The first monster that came out of the poison mist was a reptile-like demon beast whose eyes looked groggy from inhaling the poison mist. Athy immediately took care of it and simultaneously summoned her spirit knights to help with the fight.

Demon beasts were coming from the mists in different size and kinds, they come out in multiple numbers but we were able to take care of them. Athy looked like she enjoyed fighting with them while Uriel made the beasts her practice target. Her weapon was able to change forms and she wanted to try all the forms while fighting with the demon beasts.

Loki turned into his demon form, which was a large wolf with electricity running throughout his body. He could stand on his own against the demon beasts like Astrid was able to fight one on her own. Elaheh and Saintess Sachi teamed up while the Knights fought with all they got while being supported by Klent who was also holding up on his own. Klent was defeating smaller demon beasts and at the same time supporting the knights while evading getting dirty.

"That commander is quite strong." Uriel remarked as he saw Klent behead a demon beast which was rushing towards her while fighting one himself and supporting the other knight's movements.

"Not a bad choice for a commander, right?" I nodded at her while whipping my sword to take the blood off it.

"Indeed." Uriel nodded as she changed her weapon into an arrow and shot a demon beasts running towards Athy. "Why did you not pick him as a general?"

"I was about to, but Sebastiene disagreed with my decision." I frowned a little.

"Why?" Uriel asked changing her weapon into a whip. "He is strong enough to be one."

"He said there was something off about him." I shrugged.

"Must be because he's a bit of a playboy?" Uriel smirked. "Seb must be afraid that he would entice us with his beauty."

"That would be really weird." I said and leaped towards a gigantic mammoth-like demon beast.

We continued fighting but we let some weakened demon beast pass through so the knights and other nobles have something to do. We should give them something to do too.
