Disclaimer: I don't own the original works that would be included in this fanfic as such as some of the characters, stories, and arts. They belong to their respective owners. —— . . . —— Warning: You will read some cringe shît in the early chaps but please bear with it. I promise ya, the later chaps would be worth reading and investing your time on Chapter Update Release: Yeah bruh... I don't have any stable update time so meh. This is also my first fan-fic so please go easy on me hehe (≧▽≦) [Edit: 5/19/22- The beginning two arcs is totally rough. As in, yeah. The story was still in its testing point back then, so it is inevitable... But right now, I think it's worth reading starting at the third arc, the MC is still not the best but is now clearly showing some development. ;)]

Chapter 8: <Angel> [1]

[A/N: There will be slight changes as well as the direction of the story compared to the previous chap]

——

[Current Time]

Within the outskirts of Tenguu City, a lone boy could be seen sitting under the tree. This could've been defined as normal except for several things.

"With this.... Hahaha! Got it! Finally!" the boy exclaimed.

Around him were several floating orbs that emit light. On his palm lies an orb as well which emits light, but compared to the others, the one on his palm was surrounded with clasps of sparks and flames and has a force pulling almost anything towards it.

"A successful blackhole, finally. Phew. This took so much of my time" the boy said in a tired manner as he wiped of the sweat on his forehead.

Considering the time he spent on this which was one week, he doesn't know whether he should be happy or not because he had created it before his self-proclaimed deadline or he can only do it with a probability 1/10 chance of success.

Still, an accomplishment is an accomplishment. He, Rei Ainsworth, had finished his goal that he has been pursuing over a week.

Rei then dissipated the other orbs which vanished into particles of light in the air. Looking at the palm of his hand, he can't wait to try this new ability of his hard work during this week.

"Hehe. Now to test this..."

Rei then flew to the sky and threw the orb to a distant place far enough not to cause damage near Tenguu City.

The orb did not form a parabola and just flew in a straight line in a fast speed. And it was then, when it came contact with the tree from where Rei was recently resting before, it then happened.

BOOOMM!!

An explosion occured and the orb began to expand slowly and slowly until it became almost ten meters in size. Sparks of electricity and flames were also surrounding it as it expanded.

It took for about ten seconds for it to expand to its complete form, and when that ten second was complete, it began to pull anything around it just like a vacuum which lasted for three seconds.

After that, the orb warped swiftly and disappeared. What was left in its place was a crater left with the result of destruction leaving not even a speck of the tree's remains on it.

"Test complete. Heh, now this is what you can call a sure-kill move. Now I just need to practice it until I can use it perfectly in battles!"

Rei happily said as he tried to conjure another wormhole orb on his palm only to result another failure. This did not discourage him yet it still disappointed him that he can't make another one in succession.

'It seems that success was just a fluke resulted by luck', he thought to himself as he heaved a heavy sigh.

"Still, it was no doubt that I managed to do it. So that doesn't mean that I can do it again" he muttered as if he was trying to encourage himself.

Rei then put his focus and gathered mana on top of my palm. Concentrate the mana and apply the concept of [Space]....

[Understanding] the concept of [Space] is more difficult than what someone would've normally think. Specially, the process of making a [Blackhole] in a matter of seconds could be deemed impossible in theoretical means.

Some researches even say that in a very rough approximation, you would need the energy the sun produces over 100 million years to make a blackhole about the size of a grapefruit.

Yet here is Rei trying to make a artificial one in just a matter of seconds. In fact, he already succeeded once. Though its destructive power may pale towards a naturally made wormhole in space, that doesn't change the fact that this is a 'blackhole' as well that could literally shred any being into pieces with just it's gravitational pull acting like a vacuum.

Slowly and surely, a wormhole began to manifest right on top of his palm. One misstep may lead to failure so he needed to focus on it keenly without disturbing himself from outside distractions.

*ZNNNGGG*

The orb on his hand vibrated as it made fluctuations around the area. Just as intended, this was the phase where he would gather 'mana' in the surroundings to support the creation of an artificial wormhole.

*Skriitt Skrit*

Soon, crackles of electricity began to form which was followed by purple flames.

Some may wonder, what is the relationship between this flames and electricity towards the making of this wormhole?

'The answer is... I don't know', is what Rei would've answered if you asked him this question. But you couldn't blame him since he himself still doesn't have a full grasp of understanding towards his own abilities.

Moving on, as the energy began to gather, the immense gravitational pull then started to form. Rei then activated his [Barrier] to surround the forming energy on his palm entrapping it in a closed space.

As he molded it into a shape, which is an orb, compressing it further by using [Barrier] simultaneously as well as [Spatial Manipulation] to further enhanced the barrier inorder for it not to break down and get sucked by the wormhole forming inside it.

When the vibrations and the fluctuations in the air stopped, he knew the result of this umpteenth attempt.

It was a success.

Once more, he threw on a desolate area filled with nothing.

*BOOOMMM!!*

Just as the same result as earlier, he succeeded twice in a row. Seeing that, his lips curled up in a smile.

Savoring his success, he let his body fall out of the sky and landed down on the grassy plain with a crashing sound.

Did it hurt him? Of course not, something like a fall from several meters up in the air wouldn't damage a Spirit, right?

Looking at the clear blue sky, all of his preparations then resurfaced in his mind. You may not call him the smart or a genius in some ways but he is by no means a complete fool. He knew that what his preparations have some flaws that he doesn't know about at the moment. To cope up with those flaws, he believes in one thing that could balance or value higher than that.

All he needs was immense power. Up to the point that his power could be deemed "absolute" and "unmovable".

'Since in front of absolute power, all strategies and schemes are meaningless', thought Rei to himself as he yawned.

He was getting drowsy after all that practical training of his new ability.

If you thought that creating wormhole was not or just slightly taxing, then you are completely wrong. Just attempting to create one already puts the mind and body into extreme stress due to he requirements of immense focus and mana required to execute it.

The only reason he could do this was that he is a [Spirit] whose constitution was literally highly above those of a normal human. With his immense reiryoku stored in his body, it was no doubt that he could create this [wormhole] without worrying much about fuel. The slight problem was his mind to be exact since it has been overheating all the time when he had made his 13th failure.

Even so, he kept pushing himself until he succeeded. And so, he did. He achieved it.

Reaching out his hand to the clear blue sky, he grasped something. As for what he grasped....well, who knows?

Rei then thought to himself that he should probably now research about the <Angel> he was possessing all the time. A way to do that was.... he doesn't have a way to do that.

He thought it was weird, 'shouldn't Spirits know there Angels at the very beginning?' Is what he thought as he pondered over the matter.

After a brief moment, he at least knew some points where as he could be sure why he still doesn't have the knowledge to know what Angel he currently has.

Rei was an Enigma.

An anomaly in this world brought by his selfish wishes and by the whims of a God.

After thinking too much, his head began to ache. Obviously, the toll on practicing his new ability added with some trivial thoughts and future matters even made him think that 'thinking too much might end up killing you in the process' thingy.

And with that said, Rei tried to relax and release unnecessary thoughts as he enjoyed the spring cool breeze as he stared at the clear azure sky.

"....There's no problem if I take a rest for a while, right?" Rei uttered to himself feeling that his eyelids were starting to get heavier and heavier.

He made a recollection towards himself. His failures. His success. His past regrets. So on and so forth. In the end, it is meaningless to reminisce and empathize about it deeply.

Realizing that he was thinking too much once again, he heaved a heavy sigh and said, "Nothing would change even if I think about it too much"

And so, Rei fell into slumber under the bask of the clear blue sky without that much care from the world.

[A/N: What do you think? I know it's short but this will have a continuation later on. As you can see, I made some clear changes except for the first part of the chapter, and what follows after that was a brief explanation of his new found ability.

If you are wondering again when this happened in the story plotline, then here it is: It is the a few minutes earlier in Ratatoskr's perspective from chaps 5-6 and was a day before the DEM's perspective from chap 7.]
