The girl vs. the tortoise

In this fashion, the final 24 participants were selected. Since the lightning girl remained unchallenged, she would have been randomly assigned but, since she had assisted the elf in waltzing, she was given the special privilege of selecting her opponent.

She chose the tortoise, who, after losing to the elf, challenged someone else and won his position back. He gnashed his teeth in anger. THIS GIRL IS PURPOSEFULLY CHALENGING ME. The girl challenged him because he was the one with the highest cultivation and the strongest defense. She had no other motives at all.

They both hopped on to the peculiar, no-rules arena. It was an arena where one could play dirty without any concern of being apprehended or eliminated. The tortoise was happy. Maybe, he could win this, was his thought. He prepared his defense.

The girl stood on the arena, electricity, the color of pure gold, arching on her clothes, like a lightning god descended from heavens. Condensing them into a platform, she used it to fly into the sky, out of the reach of the slowpoke. She then bombarded him with a barrage of rose-gold lightnings that rained from her palms as a part of long range offense. She was an archer by profession.

~~ Scream ~~ with a shrill scream, he jumped away feeling acute burning sensation all over his body. His higher cultivation couldn't protect him from the onslaught of the lightnings, so corrosive, they partially melted the arena. It was no different from an acid spray, only, much more potent and dangerous.

Rose-gold lightnings were infamous for their extreme corrosiveness and unimaginably destructive force in them. The girl using 4th grade lightnings like nothing astounded the others while she using the rare golden lightnings as her footstool and armor made the immortal completely dumbfounded.

Gold lightnings were extremely difficult to master, much less, weave into paper thin armor. The electric arcs around her would appear random to an untrained eye, but, to the immortal, they were carefully weaved into a sturdy, fortress-like, paper-thin body armor.

The tortoise shot pressurized jets of water, no different from lasers in terms of cutting ability, which grandly missed the agile girl whose floating platform skirted around them. The girl condensed a few gold lightning bolts into an ornamental crossbow and two quivers full of crossbow bolts, using them as long-range kamikaze attack.

The tortoise's eyes shone. Sensing danger, the girl flew up high in the sky but it was late. All the water droplets dispersed into the air by the jets acted as nucleation points creating sharp needles of ice all around her. They bombarded her from all directions. Just as they reached around quarter of a meter around her,

~~Qiu!!~~ a crisp call of a phoenix sounded. A vague, translucent bird-resembling halo appeared around the girl shattering all the ice needles into shards by hitting them with lightnings that arose from flapping its wings. Its call created a sonic boom blowing them away.

The shattered ice reformed and attacked again and again. It was akin to possessing unending ammunition. The girl was pitied for her carelessness while the man was praised for his ingenuity. Everyone thought it was over for the girl.

But, was it so?
