4 Chapter 4 - Reinforcements

1st POV Black Widow

Standing silently among my fellow Avengers I watched the Chitauri swarm desperately around his floating form. They'd taken to flying their craft straight into him while jumping at the last moment before continuing to fire up at him. At this point it seemed less like an invasion and more like a one sided war between him and the Chitauri.

Watching him effortlessly tear through them with his powers I reminded myself once more of how out of place I was on this battlefield. I didn't belong here amongst these superheroes, I didn't have any special abilities nor could I ever call myself a hero, not with my history.

But as I watched one Chitauri get fed up with his inability to hurt "Him" and turn to take aim at citizens cowering in a nearby restaurant I felt my body start sprinting before I could react and pushed any thoughts or doubts about my role aside focusing solely on protecting the innocent people this thing wanted to hurt. Firing my pistol and watching the bullets harmlessly bounce off its exoskeleton I breathed a sigh of relief when it turned its attention towards me.

Releasing a cry that alerted its nearby companions the Chitauri aimed their collective rifles at me and opened fire. Thinking quickly I threw myself to the side taking cover behind a nearby police cruiser. Steadying myself I was about to start printing again when two small blurs flew past me. The Chitauri nearest to me had its throat pierced by an arrow while two others were hit by a slim shield that then ricocheted off them before piercing another through the middle.

Turning around I saw Clint standing next to me bow lowering as he finished his shot along with Steve who'd moved towards the front of our group. "Good Work Nat." Clint gave me a small smile before looking back towards Steve who was conversing quietly with Stark.

" Alright, with our mystery ally taking most of the aggression, start to prioritise evacuating citizens and setting up temporary shelters. Stark, Hank, Susan you three head towards the tower and help Reed. Until that portal closes we'll be stuck on the defensive. Thor, Torch stay airborne and get rid of any speeders that don't target "him", make sure to keep an eye out for Loki. We don't know if this is all he has planned. And Hulk -"

The behemoth who was obviously getting restless standing around turned his head towards Cap who swallowed slightly at his intensity before continuing "Smash". The grin the big guy gave was almost cute if you ignored the body parts and blood covering his figure.

Finished speaking Stark grabbed Susan and a shrunken Pym before taking off towards the tower. As the others started to disperse towards their own objectives Clint and I made our way over to the restaurant filled with survivors.

"This is just like Budapest." I started casually as we picked up our pace as Chitauri crafts flew over our head unloading ground reinforcements who immediately started to fire at us.

"You and I remember Budapest very differently." Clint responded dryly but I could detect the amusement he tried to cover up. Releasing a soft chuckle I threw myself out of cover and rushed the nearest Chitauri confident Clint would stop any attempts at shooting me in the back.

But right before I could reach my target a loud boom came from the sky and I looked up just in time to see what looked like a rainbow ray slam into the ground. Recognizing the familiar colouring of the bifrost I relaxed assuming Asgard had finally sent reinforcements but immediately realised something was wrong when ice and mist began to leak out of the portal.

When the portal finally dissipated an army was standing in front of us of tall bluish grey giants all wielding various cold weapons made of a metal I don't recognize. In front of them stood four individuals. I recognized Loki as their leader but behind him were three others I didn't know. One is a drop dead gorgeous blond woman with flowing hair dressed in a robe clearly not designed for close quarter combat. Next to her stood a tall bald man with two dark tattoos going around the circumference of his skull. The last was a tall green giant that resembled the hulk to an eerie degree.

The only difference was opposed to the hulk, he was wearing a suit of armour that covered his chest and wore metallic knuckles on his hand. Seeing the obvious signs of intelligence I shivered at the thought his strength might rival the hulks. Loki had spotted us immediately upon his arrival and he gave us an arrogant smirk as he gestured around him.

"What? You didn't really think I'd rely only on the Chitauri did you? Why would I ever do something so foolish?" Then with a flourish of his hand the army of approximately 2 hundred rushed towards us. I would have been intimidated if it wasn't for the fact everyone who had just left was still lingering around picking off Chitauri.

Loki probably wanted to make a dramatic entrance and aimed for when we'd all be together so as I watched the giants charge towards us I turned around and went back to helping the citizens as Thor, Hulk, Thing, and Human Torch all landed on the ground in front of us before charging at the enemy. And as expected it became a bloodbath. The giants were strong and they pushed back Thor and Thing slightly but the Hulk and Human Torch tore through them effortlessly.

Unfortunately, they were only able to defeat roughly 20 of them before Loki's other allies moved. The Green troll charged at Hulk and when their fists met Hulk was sent recoiling back. The sorceress women started throwing Ice magic at Torch which along with the environment slowed him down enough to the point where the giants could hit him if he wasn't careful. The man with lines on his head ran at Thing and clocked him across the jaw sending him stumbling and Loki used his illusions to manipulate Thor leading to more hits connecting with his body.

And with all our heavy hitters save one occupied, the Chitauri begin to rain destruction down on the city once more at an even more frenzied pace. Rushing the civilians back into the restaurant Clint and I took up position just outside as Cap arrived with Wasp and began to fight off the Chitauri. Giving Clint a look I stepped back and took a running stance as he put his arms together.

Running towards him I jumped onto his hands and pushed all my momentum upwards as he lifted with both his arms sending me just high enough to grab onto the tail end of a Chitauri craft. Climbing up while fighting against the air pressure trying to throw me off I jumped onto the back of the Chitauri gunner knives drawn and controlled his body using him to shoot down other crafts.

Realising he was killing his own allies the Chitauri quickly took his fingers off the controls making me release a quiet growl as I withdrew one knife and slit his throat before using his downwards momentum to launch at the oblivious driver kicking him off the craft and grabbing the controls myself. Taking a quick breather I look up towards the building "He'd" gone towards and see that he's fighting off 5 leviathans by himself while hundreds of crafts fly around trying to dive bomb him.

Feeling a heat coming from my back my senses flared danger and I dived off the craft onto a nearby convenience store and rolled to try and stop my momentum. Looking back I see the Human Torch blasting a heat beam at Cap and the robed women talking to him from behind. As I watched Cap's expression twisted as if he was fighting off a headache, I realised this woman could use mind control just like Loki's sceptre.

Looking back towards "Him" I decided this counted as a pretty desperate time and sank into my mind focusing on our connection before I was once again under 2 suns on a planet surrounded by swirling dust. Looking behind me I see "Him" looking forward and I could briefly see a screen in front of him showing his fight outside. As I focused on him he seemed to sense me and turned my direction while the screen dispersed into sand.

Deciding to cut to the chase I spoke before he could "We need your help. Loki arrived with a separate army and 3 dangerous individuals. One is strong like the hulk, another is most likely an Asgardien follower of Loki, the last is some type of sorceress who can use mind control she's already ensnared the Human Torch. If we don't do something soon the others will fall under her thrall and we'll have to fight everyone."

Finished with my explanation I watched as his hands clenched into fists immediately freezing the world around us. The winds stopped blowing and the sand beneath my feet stopped making sound as I stepped on it. If I couldn't feel it through the holes in my shoes I would almost believe it wasn't there. And then as fast as it came it was gone and the world started up again as his hands unfurled. Releasing a breath I didn't know I was holding I waited for his response.

"Very well. However, I require time. Keep your allies fighting for 2 minutes and I will be ready." With that I was once more thrown from his mind and back onto the roof of the convenience store just in time for a stray shot to land next to me tearing through the roof and causing it to cave in on the store. Standing quickly I used the crumbling environment of the roof as stepping stones to land back onto the ground near Cap and threw my last Flashbang towards the sorceress. Diving I grabbed Cap and used his shield to block the effects while tightly closing my eyes.

[Bang} {Rinnnnnggggg}

"AHHHHhhhhh." 1 minute and 50 seconds left. Hearing the sorceress scream brought a smile to my face as I pushed myself away from Cap just in time to roll away from a stray Chitauri blast. Moving in tandem Steve and I worked to cover each other. I used my tasers to stun and subdue the Chitauri that got to close while Steve covered us from Human Torch's fire blasts.

Thankfully, due to Human Torch's insane heat output the giants were avoiding our area of the battlefield like the plague. The bad news was that we were dehydrating at such a rate we'd be killed in the next few minutes.

1 minute 20 seconds left. Finally recovering from the effects of my flashbang the sorceress joined Human Torch in assaulting us with ranged attacks. Spell after spell flew at us and I was forced to once again use Cap as a shield to avoid being hit.

{Smash}

Suddenly a huge piece of cement slammed into the side of the sorceress's face knocking her into a nearby building distracting the Human Torch who went to help her. Taking the brief respite for what it was, Cap and I struggled to catch our breath while fighting the surrounding Chitauri.

{Swoosh}

"Cap to your left!" Turning I saw a frost giant sneak up behind Cap and swing down its mace on his unprotected back. My warning gave Steve just enough time to roll forward using his shield to block the debris. The giant tried to follow up but I jumped onto its back and slammed my taser full power into its neck making it hiss and stumble to the side. Reaching up it tried to grab me with its hands but I kicked off of its head landing a safe distance away as it stumbled once more.

One minute left. "Shit" A curse from my left drew my attention and I watched as Thing was smashed into a wall next to us followed closely by the marked Asgardian who swung his axe towards Thing's head. Before it could hit, Cap's shield intercepted it, putting him off balance and allowing Thing to give him a strong hit to the jaw, sending him down the street. Turning back I only barely caught a glimpse of the giant's descending weapon before it smashed into Steve's side.

"Steve!!" My shout drew the attention of the other battles and Thor in one mighty shout threw off his attackers before throwing a bolt of lightning at the giant in front of us. The giant was burnt to a crisp but Thor's action wasn't without consequence Loki used his momentary distraction to stab him with one of his daggers and based on the colouring around the wound there was some kind of poison on the blade.

30 seconds. Thing ran over to support Thor and it soon devolved into a two on two. With Thing and Thor fighting against Loki and the other Asgardian. The sorceress and Human Torch seemed to have temporarily retreated. I couldn't understand why they have every advantage in this situation. Is she going to try and ensnare the supers around the portal? That's the most likely possibility. And Stark would get caught 100 percent.

"Stark you have a sorceress who can take control of people coming at you with a mind controlled Human Torch. Be careful we don't know how her mind control works."

"Don't worry Red, we've set up a barrier around the cube to help stop it from feeding off atmospheric energies. She'd need one hell of a magic spell to break in here."

Kneeling next to Cap and applying first aid I released a sigh at Stark's flamboyant attitude. Even in the middle of a war there was just no stopping the man's bravado.

"Gahh." A shout of pain drew my attention and I turned only to see the hulk slam into the ground next to us. The green troll landed soon after and strolled towards us with a big smile on his face.

"Hahaha. You are a mighty beast indeed like Loki promised but you're not enough to beat Uilk the Troll." Shit! Is this for real? Hulk, our heaviest hitter after Thor is down and this guy hardly looks any worse for wear.

"GRRRaaa" The hulk released a struggle cry as he tried to stand up but Uilk seems to have at least temporarily incapacitated him.

I watched as the troll turned to Thor's fight and blasted off the ground towards Thor's unguarded back fist raised to hit a devastating strike on his spine. However just before he could reach Thor his body abruptly froze in midair.

{Boom} {Crash x5}

A tremor ran through the ground and all around us the dismembered remains of the Leviathans crashed into the ground as "He" slowly floated down from the sky and landed silently on the ground. There was something different about his presence. Something more than there used to be. As the collective army of giants took a step back from "His" intimidating presence I exhaled a sigh of relief knowing that for now I could rest and attend to Cap.

Turning away I allowed myself to just this once put my trust into a stranger.

AN: Thanks for reading this chapter sorry for the lack of Vader but I wanted to write a little with just the other characters and I don't want to make Vader super overpowered where he can use OP abilities like Morichro without consequence. So for this chapter you could say he was recovering while holding back 3/4ths of the Chitauri forces single handedly.

Since I'm trying to use comic elements in this fic I decided to just go all out here by bringing Uilk and Amora along with the frost giants since with the F4 it the invasion would have been too easy with Vader's assistance. Also for any one curious the ability Vader is using is called Oneness (I know dumb name) and it pretty much means giving yourself completely to the force in order to have your power multiplied by about 20 times.

Lastly, a general question for you guys. In the movies using the force is explained as having Midi-clorins in your cells in such an amount you're connected to the force ( I think) this means that if anti-mutant tech can be made then anti-force tech could also be made and I'm not sure if i want to include that in this fic. But let me know what you guys think of that possibility.
