20 Meet President Yang

Not a problem? My foot!

She didn't want to drag the Yangs in her family feud but on a second thought she realised that it'll worth it to see Xia Mengrui's red face when she gets to know that Lingyun follows her on WeChat.

Lihua clicked on 'My QR Code' and extended her phone towards him, allowing him to scan the code.

"It's done." Lingyun put his phone back in his pocket and opened the car door for her to get inside.

Lihua received two different notifications--one that he had followed her and the second one was about a payment transaction through Wechat Pay.

"Did you transfer me money?"

"Yes I think this will be enough to cover your taxi fare."

Xia Lihua rolled her eyes and lowered herself down into the passenger seat. Yang Lingyun joined her and briefly glanced at her before stepping on the accelerator.

"So, over the past two years, you were enrolled a bridge course for business studies at a university in Milan?"

"Yes."

"Why didn't you inform your grandpa about it earlier? He was genuinely concerned about you," Lingyun questioned, his tone filled with curiosity and a hint of frustration.

However, Lihua remained silent, her lips tightly pressed together, refusing to provide an answer. She was feeling embarrassed and angry and the same time at his arrogant attitude. She had a distressed face which he inadvertently noticed from the corner of his eye. "Are you uncomfortable?"

Even the dim street lights couldn't dull the girl's phoenix-like watery eyes, which had a mischievous and lovely aspect.

"I'm not but I'd like to reach home as soon as possible." Her voice sounded rigid and frozen. She turned her face away to look through the window at the road.

Xia Lihua's actions annoyed him to the extent that he wanted to ask her to get out of his car when he himself proposed to give her a ride back home. Why was she behaving like this? They had broken their engagement on good terms and it was mutual. There was no reason for her to be so dramatic. With tight lips he spoke, "Where do you live?"

"Lujiazui. No need to drop me at my house, you can-"

Yang Lingyun stepped on the breaks suddenly, almost making her fall forward. "The exact location."

She released an exasperated sigh and reluctantly gave him her address. He dropped her off at her apartment and drove away.

...

As soon as Xia Lihua walked inside her apartment Ling Feiyi jumped from the divan like a cat and hugged her tightly. "My god Lili! You are so late, I was so worried for you."

"Get away! Let me breathe." Xia Lihua pushed her away to make some space between them. "I was late because I got into an argument with someone".

Feiyi raised her eyebrows and followed Lihua to the kitchen. "With whom?"

"You know it." Lihua took a bottle of cold water from the refrigerator and took a sip.

Feiyi guessed that he fought with was her father, so she didn't probe her any further. But she was actually wrong; the person Lihua was talking about was Yang Lingyun.

"Anyway Liang Sichen said that it's time to meet president Yang."

Lihua choked on the water, thinking that Feiyi had guessed correctly. "Why is that?"

"That bastard keeps buying our stocks, I think it's better to call for a truce." Feiyi frowned at her reaction and reckoned that she was hiding something from her. She noticed the anxiety in her eyes but decided not to press her further at the moment and let this matter go.

"Alright. Ask Sichen to set up a meeting with him."
