Family dinner (3)

Lihua was astounded. So grandpa knew? No wonder he had readily agreed to giver her the shares. He wasn't being biased towards her. All these years he hadn't kicked her out because he trusted her.

Did he perhaps also know who was the man she had slept with? She had to ask him.

She was drugged by Meng Rui and Li Yan and had lost consciousness. She ended up sleeping with a man, but he had left before morning. When she woke up she was surrounded by reporters and the news that she had slept with a man spread in the social circle tainting her reputation.

Grandfather had paid to wipe out all the pictures from social media, but he refused to give her the 5% shares of the company. It's been very long since that scandal happened so general public had forgotten that incident.

When grandpa agreed to give her the shares she thought that it was because he was aggrieved as she had gone missing for two years.

But he had known everything all along and trusted her.

Xia Tianyu knew what his brother and his son had done. His face turned pale when grandfather got up without finishing his food.

"I am very disappointed in you too Wenjin."

Grandfather's words made Wenjin's face turn equally pale.

"Meng Rui come with me upstairs."

"Alright, grandfather." Meng Rui gulped. Why did grandfather want her to go upstairs with him?

As soon as Grandfather Xia left, Wenjin was lost in his own thoughts. He was able to see that his younger sister wasn't as simple as she appeared.

She had made an impressive play at the dining table—hitting two birds with one stone!

Xia Lihua looked up to see Xia Wenjin staring unconsciously at her with a half-smile. Her mystifying expression amazed him, but he quickly put his head down to avoid her judging eyes.

After finishing dinner, she got up and completely ignored the enraged Xia Tianlin.

"Young Miss! Will you not wait-" Butler He followed after her as she walked out of Xia mansion, she didn't want to spend another minute there.

"No. Tell grandfather that I'll meet him again very soon on my behalf." Li Hua fished out her phone from her purse to book a taxi. Butler He didn't prod any further and left her alone in the courtyard.

Compared to Meng Rui's defeated look, Lingyun was in a fairly good mood. He didn't want to come at Xia family house to attend tonight's dinner as he had to prepare for a meeting but Meng Rui had adjured him repeatedly to come along with her. He wanted to hurry back home and thanks to Li Hua's impressive play the dinner had ended early. So he had followed her as soon as she walked out of the dinning room.

The night sky was clear and the moon was at it's fullest, the entire place was illuminated throughout. The stars were prominent, shining like beautiful jewels. Under the moonlight Xia Lihua shone even more brightly than stage lights. Her small faded-pink dress complimented her pale skin and she looked like a goddess, pure and innocent.

Lingyun was entranced by the mystifying woman standing a few meters away from him. A gentle wind blew making her pitch black hair blow across face yet she looked elegant and other-worldly, exuding a different charm.

Her rosy lips slightly parted as she typed something on her phone. She hadn't noticed him.

Was she chatting with someone on Wechat? Who was she texting? He felt very curious to know and didn't understand his sudden fixation with her. An uneasy sensation rose in his stomach and the heaviness in his chest was painful. The scene before him was so mesmerising that it could drive painters insane with it's beauty.

"Do you want a ride?"

Li Hua slightly tilted her head back and gave Lingyun a pointed look. He was leaning against the doorway with his hands in the pocket of his dress pant. "No, thank you young master Yang. You can go back and wait for Mengrui."

Her long eyelashes fluttered, casting a soft shadow on her face and the stars that were reflected in her eyes looked so beautiful that his soul felt like it was being sucked into a whirlpool. Even though she was standing right in front of him it seemed to be a painting, a very skilled artist's masterpiece—a brilliant creation.

"She will go back with her parents. You should come with me." Lingyun walked over towards her and removed his jacket, draping it across her shoulders. It was cold outside and she was wearing very light clothing.

He gave her no room for refusal as he confidently walked down the stone pathway to where his black Maybach was parked. Lihua silently trudged behind him in her high heels. "Take back your jacket! I don't want to go with you, I've already booked a taxi."

"How much did you pay for it?"

"What has that got to do with you?"

"Share me your WeChat account." Lingyun stopped in his tracks before turning around. He had always been cold and quiet, his voice was equally emotionless.

Lihua couldn't believe his audacity and rolled her eyes. She wanted to throw his jacket, drag it through mud, stomp it under her heels until it was dirty enough. If she knew that this man would be present during dinner today then she would have asked grandpa to invite her some other day. "First you ask me to take a ride with you when I've already paid for a taxi, then you ask for my WeChat...are you in the right state of mind?"

Lingyun glared at her with a deep frown. "Why is it a problem?"

"My dear cousin sister will be infuriated if you add me on WeChat. Did you forget I'm your ex fiancée?"

"I'll talk with Meng Rui. It won't be a problem." His eyes travelled down from the little beauty mole on her chin, then along her collar bone, causing him to swallow.
