Author's Note: Darkstone Legacy

Probably should've had this prior to the Prologue but here we go.

There are certain things I want to write in a specific chapter about the context of the story.

It's a Fantasy genre Novel that is inspired by several DnD elements and there are some "mechanics" or power systems that I somewhat got inspired by some DnD and ARPG games (Won't Name Names but you might have an idea)

Here are some things to know about the story before proceeding forward:

Location:

Drahan Kingdom- Human Kingdom in the center of the large continent of Otia. It is home to largest population of Humans.

Notable Locations:

- Ashborne: Capital of Drahan, named after the Legendary Drunken King. Large city with several districts and quarters.

- Dragon's Fate: Adventurer's Guild based on the Capital. Its headquarters is located in the West District of Ashborne.

- Hightowers: The largest bridge in Otia that runs across the Death's Gullet; A massive valley that is rumored to house Demonic Beasts on the bottom. It is named that due to the massive and tall towers that are housed on the Bridge.

- Stillvein: A City on the southernmost part of Drahan, home to the College of Ignis, the most prestigious school for Magic.

Races:

- Human: Native to Drahan and other Kingdoms. Considered to be one of the most "Average" of all the races but most of the most legendary figures in History were Humans. Their average lifespan is 80-100, although there was a specific subrace of Humans that descend from a certain Bloodline that can live for more than 100 years.

(Should be noted that those that practice the Arcane can master the art of stopping/slowing their age. So the most powerful Wizards/Sorcerers would be older than they look.)

- Elves: Native to Teo'varna, the Divine Land. Considered to be the superior race. Their average lifespan is 500+ years. They are naturally adept at Magic and most Elves combine their magic with swordsmanship to provide the best advantage.

-Half-Elfs: Are widely recognized as their own race, but are a subrace of the Elves. They age slightly faster than regular Elves but can age slower than regular humans.

 - Dark Elves: Dark-skinned elves that live in the Shadowlands, a region next to Drahan that is shrouded in darkness, only illuminated by the bioluminescent trees that are scattered throughout.

 - High-Elves: The most prominent type of Elf, tall, beautiful, and powerful. Their hair and eyes come in many colors but it is their aura that is the same. Their personality is the main reason Daemon has a certain contempt towards Elves.

- Tiefling: Their original homeland is unknown and are mostly scattered throughout the land. Their entire race are descendanst from the Crimson Eyes; creations born from the First Demon. They receive the most prejudice but Drahan is the most accepting of them. Some of them possess tails as part of their physical biology as others do not, as it is random.

There are three subtypes of Tieflings, named after their original ancestor.

 - Abaddon: This is the most common type of Tiefling; red skin and dark horns that curve upwards. Descendants of Abaddon, a member of the Crimson Eyes. They're the most naturally gifted in Fury.

 - Azuroth: Greyish blue skin with short horns. They're more prominent in Magic as their original, Azuroth, was considered the Origin of Demonic Magic.

 - Amarithya: Yellow skin with dark horns that curve slightly forward. They're considered as the inferior species similar to how the Crimson Eyes despised Amarithya.

So far, this it for the Races.

Now, onto the Guild itself.

The Dragon's Fate:

The pride and joy of Drahan, An Adventurer's Guild that has given birth to the most famous of Warriors and Mages. Among them is Daemon, our protagonist. He is known as the Black Dragon, due to how vicious and powerful he is.

Adventurers must sign up to the Guild and must take jobs that are requested through the Clerks, who will assign jobs to said Adventurers. The job's difficulty and pay will depend on the rank of the Adventurer.

All Clerks will be fully aware of the rank of the Adventurer and will always give them the job that corresponds to their rank. (A clerk will never give a Bronze-Ranked Adventurer a Gold-Rank job, unless their party's leader is Gold or above)

Parties: The Dragon's Tale always encourages their members to be part of registered parties. The leader must be the highest Ranked member or at the very least, all members must be equal to the leader's rank. (Ex. A Gold-Rank Leader must have Gold-Rank members or lower ranked members.)

The size of the parties always varies and will not exceed 8. Anything more than that would be registered and classified as a "Band", slang for "Band of Misfits".

Every Adventurer is part of a Party, whether permanently or temporary. Except for Daemon, who, for ten years, has exclusively done things Solo.

This is the rank system of the guild (From lowest to highest)

- Iron (Every newcomer, no matter the experience, will be Iron Rank.)

- Bronze

- Silver

- Gold

- Sapphire

- Platinum (Daemon's Rank)

- Diamond (Highest available rank)

- Obsidian (Only one member is Obsidian Rank)

the rank of the Adventurer doesn't always determine their individual power(Edit); Daemon is a Platinum-Ranked Adventurer but he is the most famous and arguably, the strongest, Fighter/Tank of the Guild.

The Ranks determine the effectiveness of the Adventurer and the promotion always varies. An Iron Rank Adventurer can take part in a Gold-Ranked job, via their party, and be promoted to Silver(At most)

Power System

Classes: (Classic DnD type classes)

Melee Based Fighters

- Fighters

- Warriors

- Knights

- Barbarians

Magic Based

- Wizards

- Sorcerers

- Warlocks

- Druids

Range Based (Archers)

- Rangers

- Rogues (Clearly are sneak classes, but classic Sneak Archer class is always the go-to.)

- Any class with a bow

Holy Based

- Monk

-Cleric

- Paladin

For now, that's it.

Here are the Power Sources

Holy Magic: Exclusive to Clerics, Monks, and Paladins. Holy Magic is the power brought forth by faith in a specific Deity/Entity (Angels...etc.)

Magic: Arcane power that is not Exclusive to Wizards, Sorcerers, and Warlocks. Fighters, Barbarians, and other melee based classes can learn magic.

Fury: A separate source of power that is Exclusive to Fighters, Barbarians, Warriors, and Knights. Only those with Fury can become the best of their respective Classes. While those who are born with Magic can't attain Fury, those born with Fury can actually attain Magic. This makes Fury one of the best sources of power.

It should be noted that I haven't fully fleshed out this system and would drop exposition in actual chapters. So if you're still a bit confused, worry not.

An in-depth description about the Power System and Classes, even the Ranks and the way the Guild works WILL be updated and another chapter would be uploaded further in the future.

For now, that is all my exhausted mind can muster so I greatly apologize.

Any questions, go ahead and ask them.
