Golden Partner
I crammed the Spatial ring into the pocket of my pants and sat down, staring at the Lifeful ring.
While sitting, the mana from the Holy Tree flowed to my hand into the lifeful ring, causing my hand to float in the air.
As the golden light faded from the ring, it began to emit a dazzling light with nine elemental colors.
I closed my eyes and focused my mana inside the ring to try to sense what that life form inside was. That assured me it was some kind of mana beast. But what exactly is it?
A small white triangular head peered out from within the ring just as I was thinking. It scanned its surroundings, turning left and right. He flung his head back and let out a joyful cry when he saw me.
*Whoosh*
He hopped onto my body and licked my face with his tiny tongue. It turns out to be a small white snake. It's adorable.
It was a normal fully grown white Snake with a golden glimmer with its entire body out of the lifeful ring. It was about six centimeters long and the thickness of my thumb finger. However, with his cuteness already proven, a layer of unusually exquisite scale covers him. On his head there is a gold stripe that runs all the way to his tail. Indeed, he's really adorable.
According to what I know about snakes in this world, a White snake is not the typical type of mana beast seen around. And, despite having explored many interiors of this continent's forests, I had never seen any of those snakes until today.
"Aren't you a cute little fella?" said to the snake, who was staring at my face and flicking his tongue.
When he saw me, he made shh-sounds as if he was trying to say something.
"Aw, do you feel happy?" I asked him, and to my surprise, he nodded his little head as if to say yes.
I had no idea mana beasts could understand humans! In any case, I'll have to give it another shot.
"Hey Buddy! I'm going to call you Jin! Do you like it?" I started telling him as I knew that the word Jin meant "bright and beautiful" in my old world.
Hearing me, he nodded his head again while licking my face with his adorable little tongue.
I believe he enjoyed it!
"Alright, Jin! My name is Ethan! It's a pleasure to meet you!" I said to him as I gently rubbed his little head and body. After all, he is still a baby.
"Shh!" I said as I was softly cuddling him. He suddenly extended its tongue and licked the underside of my left Dorsal or the back of my palm.
"Ah!" I instinctively moved my arm away from the scorching sensation, but before I could, a glowing black light engulfed my arm.
Jin had already gone to my head and was watching what was going on.
I just waited until the prickling pain went away. The creature's tongue drew back, revealing a black mark on my left Dorsal.
It had the appearance of rune engravings, but the shape of this pattern was that of a wing. There was only one open wing, but it was filled with dashes and sharp curves that branched out, making it look very intricate and mysterious, to make me think why would a Snake like Jin would mark wings in my back of my palm?
"JIn, why did you tattoo me?" The symbol vanished instantly when I asked Jin, who was looking down from my head.
When I directed my mana toward my left hands, the tattoo became visible. Now that I've seen this, I understand what's going on.
Tamers have been known to enter into contracts with Mana beasts, but this is the first time I've seen it., and I'm glad Jin has become my partner beast. It appears that I have now become a Beast tamer.
"Shh!" I finally realized I was still inside the Holy tree as Jin sounded.
"We can leave now, boy! I will show you the whole world and its fun!" I said to him as I picked up my sword and my dress and I dropped them inside the spatial ring.
Due to it getting opposed to the Lifeful ring, I stuffed it inside my pocket and manipulated Wind magic and created Wind blades, and stepping on them I used Wind Walking to go out of the entrance.
