Chapter One

Abby stares down at the lifeless body of Lin Shu. She was a fighter. Was. Blood splatters clung to the pink shower curtains above her and to the white tiles, toilet bowl and her hands. She frowns at the stains on her hand and steps over the corpse, then heads for the sink before turning on the faucets and rinsing it off.

The red bruises on the corpses body would definitely be noticed and so would the slit throat. Lin had fought all right. It was almost as if she knew that someone was coming for her.

Abby rinses off her bloody knife before slipping it back into her coat pocket. For some strange reason, Abby had always preferred knives to guns. There was just something about knives that allured her. They were silent but lethal, very much like her but on the other hands, guns were noisy, quick to draw attention and easy to leave prints on except the user was smart enough to put on gloves.

With one last glance at the body, she walks out of the house, tugging her hood over her head. As she walked down the hallway leading out of the dingy little apartment building, a door ahead of her swings open but she keeps on walking. A man stumbles out, clearly drunk and dressed in only a pair of briefs. A brunette dressed in a purple robe walks out, holding a pile of crumpled clothes which she tosses at him.

"I don't want to see you here ever again. Get out!" she yells, her wet hair slapping across her face as she lunged towards him, her palm connecting with the side of his face. The man falls back onto the dirty old carpet, his hand placed over the affected area. She shuts the door behind her with a bang, leaving the man there.

Abby doesn't stop to check if he's okay, like any normal person would instead she smirks and steps over him, jogging down the stairs. Fortunately enough, the woman had been too busy yelling at the man that she didn't see Abby while the man had been too drunk to even look at her. Whether he did or not didn't matter, he was still going to forget her by the time he was sober.

Pushing the wooden doors open, she walks into the alley next to the building, hops on her black harley and zooms off. She had never been one to like wearing helmets. The feeling of the cold wind caressing her face felt euphoric. It reminded her that she could still feel things.

Back home, they had always made her feel... numb. The people around her, the air she breathed in, everything smelt of violence. No, she didn't like it but that was part of who she was.

After a few minutes, she turns into a street downtown and pulls up in front of a diner. It was almost eight and it was dusk had already set in. The green emerald lights which spelt 'Big Mama Shack', flickered on and off before staying on for a few minutes. She turns off the engine and gets off it.

The diner was almost full. A group men sat at a corner laughing over some sports joke whilst sipping a cold liquor and munching down on their sandwich. Abby slips into a chair at the bar, her hood still placed over her head.

"Welcome to Big Mama's Shack, what would like?" a waitress asks dryly. Abby scans through the menu before replying, " I'll have a plate of waffles, a turkey sandwich and a cup of coffee . " The girl nods and walks into a back door.

Minutes later, she emerges with a tray containing Abby's order. She mutters a thank you before digging in. As every morsel of food enters into her stomach, it growls loudly.

"Hey beautiful," comes a male voice. She raises the cup of her coffee to get lips and takes a gentle sip without sparing the man a glance. He nudges her with his elbow, a smug smile still on his face. "I'm not interested," she simply states, her eyes void of emotions but he keeps persisting and she keeps ignoring.

Once she's finished her dinner, she fishes out a ten dollar bill and slams it on the table before standing up. "Keep the change," she says and walks out the door.

As she hops on her bike, the man walks out, his face flushed in embarrassment and anger. "Hey, I was talking to you back there!" he yells, gaining attention from by passers. "I said I'm not interested in whatever you want to do," she spits before turning on the engine. He balls his hands into his fists and lunges for Abby, who's quick enough to raise her front tyre in the air and drive it into the man's groin.

He falls back onto the hard concrete floor, his eyes shut in pain. "I'll get you back you b*tch!" he yells but Abby's already driven away.

.....

"Where have you been?" Blue hisses, looking up from the pile of paperwork scattered all over his table. "Ran into some mess," she shrugs nonchalantly. He presses his lips into a thin line before picking up his phone.

Abby takes that as her chance to leave, so she walks out the door, the air conditioning blasting her. The building she was currently in was a place the federal government had been searching for, for the past four years but it seemed like they'd given up.

Richard Blue, otherwise known as Mr. Blue was one of the most wanted men in the United States, after being responsible for three hundred deaths in five years. Back in the year 2005, Blue had been given a life sentence, after stabbing three police officers to death during a gun battle with some drug lords. Unfortunately, he was the only one they had caught because his teammates didn't cover up for him.

Three years later, after being convicted of murder on three accounts, he was sentenced to life in prison without a chance of parole. On the first month of the third year, he and an inmate had devised a brilliant escape scheme. It worked for Richard but not so much for Damien. The cops had traced them down after they had escaped, to an abandoned corn mill factory where they had been staying for the past one week.

Richard had always been faster and even more athletic than Damien, so he was able to get away quite easily. Damien was caught and taken away by the police while Richard was still on the run. Somehow, the cops had never found him, even till this very day, even after some

deaths were linked to him a few months ago.

No one knew how he had been able to get connections and even the money he had to start up an association. He had built a massive building where most of his workers lived. It had a tennis court, a training ground, a gym, a large cafeteria and an Olympic size swimming pool.

Pushing the door leading into her shared room, she sighs, shutting the door gently behind her. Serena, a co-assassin, lay sprawled on the bed, a magazine featuring all kinds of ammunition lay on her stomach.

As Abby shuts the door behind her, Serena jolts up, her weary eyes scanning the room. When she sees Abby at the door, she allows her head to fall back on the bed.

"Someone seems exhausted, " Abby teases plopping down on her own bed, after taking off her shoes and jacket. "Never mess with Chinese people, they pack a punch," she groans, sitting up straight to reveal her bandaged arm. Abby winces, her eyes fixed on the bloody bandage.

"When did this happen?" she asks, looking up to meet Serena's eyes. "Few hours ago. You know that mission I told you I was going to do early today?" . Abby nods. "Well that was the one. It was a man, probably in his sixties, had white hair like the chinese men you see in the movies. It turns out he has a very fascinating collection of swords and knives," she replies.

"Did you bring me one? " Abby jokes and Serena nods, much to her surprise. "Wait, you actually did?" Abby gushes . She reaches behind her bed and pulls out two katana and two beautifully carved daggers. "One for the both of us," she states, sliding the knives across the room to Abby who stares at them in shock.

"There's blood on this one," Abby comments, picking up the katana. "Yeah, turns out when you cut of the head of someone in a clean swipe, the blood that spews out, jumps higher," she dramatically gushes. "And how long have you known that information?" Abby asks, rolling her eyes. "Since I started here," she replies, giggling like a little child.

Now unlike Abby who had lost everything, Serena hadn't. She was just one of those girls who would always put a bad reputation out there for herself. She didn't care what anyone thought about it, not even Abby. She had always been the crazy one anyway and the most creative.

When most people would have done a quick job, Serena wanted a slow death for her victim. She was almost as crazy as Mr.Blue himself. The way she'd leave her victims would even leave goosebumps and chills running down the spines of whoever found their bodies. She was the definition of gruesome.

Growing up, Abby had everything she could possibly dream of; loving parents and friends, fame among her peers and even a scholarship to Yale to studying Medicine. Unfortunately she hadn't even graduated yet when her parents had gotten divorced. Whenever she'd come back, her dad wouldn't be at home. One day he came home when she wasn't expecting, drunk beyond sanity. He had grabbed a knife and lunged for, driving it into her thigh.

That night she fled even under her condition and eventually ended up sleeping in an alley since her bank cards were at home in her room and so was her phone. There was no way she could get a motel or a place to stay. None of her close friends lived in West Hampton anymore.

A little bit past midnight, just after she had finally been able to catch some sleep, she heard a muffled plea. When she opened her eyes, the blood in her body drained off. The barrel of a gun was pointed to a man who was blindfolded and who's arms were bounded by a rope.

On reflex, she'd dashed out of her hiding position, obviously gaining the attention of the hooded men. One of them shot her, the bullet nearly piercing into her right lung. They had taken her away then brainwashed before turning her into one of their own.

Slowly she found herself accepting her new life. Those hooded men and every other person had become her new family.
