Chapter Twenty-Three

Peyton's POV:

That night that Cambry witnessed our pack fending off the rogues was kind of scary. She could have been harmed, but luckily she wasn't.

I was curious as to why she was out that late, she docked the question and turned the tables. Of course, I didn't want to answer, so I let it go. I just hope she's okay.

It's been a couple of days since that evening, and I've been staying with Cambry, sleeping by her side. Just don't tell her father.

I didn't mention it to Cambry, but the nights that she leaves the bedroom, I notice her absence. She's gone for maybe an hour or two and then she's back. I have been curious as to where she's going, but I don't want to lose her trust. I feel if I follow her, she'd immediately untrust me if she found out.

When she leaves in the middle of the night, I'm usually awake, but she thinks I'm asleep. The truth is, I haven't been sleeping very well these last few nights because I feel our bond is slowly thinning.
