As they left the village vicinity, Song Zhuyu realized that they were heading toward the previous Chief's residence, and sure enough, the familiar house soon came into view. Instead of approaching the house, however, Tan Jiahu veered off the path and they walked for a few more minutes until they emerged into a clearing. 

Nestled amidst the thick foliage stood a lone gong – a weathered bronze disc that gleamed in the dim lights, suspended from a sturdy wooden frame.
