18 Only way

Blake tried to wave back, but only ended up raising his hands awkwardly before putting them back down again.

As for Aria, she didn't say anything, and only kept walking.

After Shane called out to them, the rest of the group finally noticed their presence, and directed their gazes at the duo.

Puck's expression squeezed into a deep frown when his eyes met with that of Blake, and he snickered before turning his head to the side.

'What up with him now?' Blake mumbled as he stared at Puck, the corners of his eyes squinting slightly.

After walking for a few more seconds, they got to where Shane and the rest of the group gathered, taking a position at the side.

Blake eyes scanned the other people in the room, apart from Shane, Aria, Puck and Patricia, there were some others he hadn't met or introduced himself to before.

Apart from the four he met earlier, there were seven others standing around Shane, which included four women, three men… and one little girl who didn't seem to be more than 12 years of age.

It was a short girl with messy brown hair, and light brown eyes, she was standing beside an average height man with short brown hair and black eyes.

Draped over her shoulders was an oversized black coat.

Her small hand was held tightly by the man's larger hand, and her eyes were red and puffy, proof that she had was just crying seconds ago.

The man whose hands she was holding unto, had a striking resemblance to the girl, and even though their hair and eye colour were different, their faces still resembled.

Blake didn't anyone to tell him, just from the resemblance alone, it was clear that the man was the girl's father.

However, what caught his attention wasn't the girl's father, but the way the girl's body was shivering.

Her body kept shaking uncontrollably, in addition to her red and swollen face, Blake felt like something was wrong with her.

Even the man standing beside her didn't look any better, with his eyes staring off in the distance, and a deep-rooted fear visible in his eyes.

As he stared at her, Blake's expression morphed into a deep frown, and he clenched his fists tightly.

Though he wasn't sure what exactly happened to them, or what they had experienced before they were brought to the warehouse, he more or less had a good idea.

Someone that young shouldn't have to go through something like this… it just wasn't fair.

"She's shivering…" Blake subconsciously voiced out his thoughts, causing the gazes of the rest of those to turn directly at him.

"Yeah… that's one of the reason we are all gathered here." Shane said, a weird glint flashing through his eyes when he saw the expression on Blake's face.

He didn't need to ask before he knew he Blake was referring to among the survivors, since there was only one of them whose body was shivering the most.

"Huh?" Blake said.

"You see… unlike the rest of the people gathered here, Daisy was found under the rain." Shane said, pausing for a second bed for continuing: "Unfortunately, she had stayed in a cold for a long time, and ended up developing a fever."

Blake eyes widened slightly when he heard Shane's words, and he subconsciously looked back at the brown haired girl.

'So her name's Daisy, and she got the fever from the cold…' He thought.

"Then that means we need to get drugs for her! Before her condition gets worse!" Blake suddenly said, with a slight frown on his face.

"Damn kid..." Puck said, raising his head to stare at Blake with his brows furrowed in annoyance. "Why not just let Shane finish first, huh? Stop butting in."

"It's okay Puck. He's not wrong you know." Shane said, meanwhile Patricia who stood close to him giggled slightly.

Blake expression morphed into a deep frown as he stared at Puck. 'What's with him?' He thought, barely holding back the urge to shout at the blonde haired man.

After calming down Puck, Shane turned back to Blake, and then continued what he was saying earlier. "That's why we're gathered here Blake… to plan how we would get drugs for her, and also food for ourselves.

"I would have used my skill to heal her, but unfortunately, it's only limited to healing physical injuries, and not curing diseases." Patricia said, her brows furrowing slightly.

Blake eyes squinted slightly when he heard her words and he sighed. 'Only limited to physical injuries…' He mumbled inwardly, while clenching his fists tightly.

"S-she should be o-okay." Suddenly one of the other survivors spoke up, causing the eyes of all the others to turn to the person.

It was an average height woman with short black hair, and a pair of rectangular glasses hanging on her nose. However, one of the lens of the glasses had a small crack.

Noticing all the eyes on her, the woman sighed before continuing: "I-I'm actually a medical practitioner… in fact I run a pharmacy that isn't too far from here."

"I already checked on the girl's… c-condition, and her fever isn't too serious. All she needed is some painkillers, and paracetamol and s-she should be okay." The woman said, stuttering a few times.

Shane's eyes squinted slightly when he heard her words.

"So you're basically a doctor huh…?" He muttered, to which the woman nodded in reply.

The girl in question clutched the hands of her father even tighter, her eyes staring off into space, and her little body still shivering in cold.

"Zombies… monsters…" She mumbled, before burying her face into the chest of her father, who patted her head gently to comfort her.

Though her voice was low, Blake and a few of the other survivors still heard her words clearly.

Blake's eyes widened slightly, and his face morphed into a deep frown. He turned his head to the ground, gnashing his teeth furiously against themselves.

'Of course… zombies…' He mumbled inwardly, gritted his teeth. A part of him wanted to comfort her also, however, what difference would it make?

There would still be zombies, and the monsters roaming about wouldn't reduce either, same with the number of people who lost their lives to them.

The only way to really help would be to survive and eradicate all the zombies and beasts from the earth…
