Secret yearning

Zoe sat at the corner of the restaurant garden. The place was quiet with very few customers. She watched the night grow thicker and cooler under the small tree she was sitting. In between her shift she had been thinking if it was really wrong for a woman to take the first move on a guy. She had believe it was all her life since the first time she did it. In highschool she had a huge crush on a popular boy in school . She had taken the initiative to walk up to him since he always smiled at her. She told him she liked him and he said he do too. They exchanged contracts . She gave him her home line because she didn't have a phone . After school She sat all through the night in her father's study room waiting for the boy to call . It was past six in the morning when her mom found her lying on the cold floor with out a blankets and woke her up. When she dressed up for school the kid saw her and acted like always , cool. She continued waiting for his call until the sixth day when she became sick . Her eyes were all swollen . She said he would call .She would wait . Girls don't call boy's . But he never called . Since then she decided going to a boy first only brings bad news . That was the news she doesn't want from Charm.

The moon glowed on her dark black hair . Her phone in her right hand and the card Charm had given her in her left . She was a second away from dialling his number . She took a long breath and exhale before quietly dumping the card inside her trouser pocket. She only wish he could call even if it was by mistake so she could hear him speak. She missed his voice . Since the first time which happened to be the last too she had secretly prayed she would hear him always . She glances in to the skies filled with twinkling stars. She wondered which of the stars was keeping her prayers captive. Zoe clapped her hand to say another prayer. She prayed quietly with her eyes opened pointing to the tiny star. The one she felt was innocent enough to take her prayers to God. When she finished she dropped her hands down.

Manuel had been staring at her all through but she cared less. She was tired of apologizing to him after every failed date . She thinks even him should be too. Recently after her meeting with Charm she had discovered her relationship with Manuel would have not worked even if the date's were not cancelled. He didn't stir her like Charm did. She was only with him because she felt void. Thanks to Charm she now know she had been lonely all her life . She stood up when she saw Manuel walking to her direction . She quickly took a detour to the staff rest room. ' Men will always be men . Never backing down.' She hissed at the thought . She sat on the toilet sit with her phone in hand. It beeped. She checked but it was Rita.

After what she had done for Charm she expected him to be all over her or at least show appreciation. She wanted to get angry at him for having a bad manner but she couldn't . By the time Zoe decided to face reality Manuel was already at the door. She opened it and he won't move from her way. He wasn't letting her pass." What?" She asked looking at him in the eyes. She saw it . He was lonely too. He was staring at her with out a word . Since the incident none of them had really had a discussion. She felt her stomach fluttered. The eyes he was giving her was driving her crazy. She could feel the pain enacting from inside him . He had really fallen for her that easily. 'Why .' She thought. 'Why not someone else?' She wanted to ask him. His eyes won't leave hers neither will hers' . She felt glued .

" What is going on here?" Koel asked . He towered his long body near Manuel. " Did you two ....." Zoe took the opportunity and push Manuel off her front and walked away.

After doing her normal routine before closing she walked alone through the night . She didn't talk to anyone not even Connie who had become her growing rival and Also her role model nor Ali who she had started to make friend with. She walked passed few houses and took a detour when she felt some one following her . Part of her wanted to turn and wait for Manuel . To tell him how sorry she was. To make him understand that he should not think of her as any princess who deserves his affection. Also to make him know the shit she 'd do for money. The shit she 'd come from and how messed up her family and life was . How dare he love her . She screamed in to the thin air and heard her voice echoed back to her. ' He loves me.' She thought. No one should. As she continued to go she felt foots steps of some one approaching from behind ." Manuel I don't want to speak to you. Go away! " She yelled at him hoping he 'd go but the person only stopped for a while . She started to jogging . When she was four houses away from hers' she stopped . But the stalker was still matching behind her. Zoe bent down resting her hands on her hips and taking enough breath in and out. She could feel sweat building up in her spine and her legs were tired too. ' Why had she walked all the way home instead of taking a bus ' She scolded her self. She felt miserable feeling Manuel waiting just few steps away from her . She could also hear his soft breathing. He really wouldn't give up . Zoe got tired and turned to face him . All dressed up in a white hoodie . Something he never wore before. The smell of his new perfume filled her nostrils. He looked taller . When she looked him in the eyes it was Charm standing in front of her .
