7 Chapter Six

"You have got a talent for this."

Luke chuckled, leaning on a wall as he watched her look into a money pouch she managed to steal without being noticed. Her eyes moved from the bag to the boy and she rolled her mismatched orbs.

Alfie looked like him with a begrudging look of respect. She looked to the side, avoiding eye contact.

"...Thanks."

She muttered and he chuckled. She was adorable. He reached out, patting her head, which she slapped away.

"Follow me, my little apprentice, I have much to teach you..."

She grumbled as she followed him.

"We're the same age..."

The boy just smirked in response.

___

"So you just... take everything valuable?"

Alfia asked as they were looking down at a passed-out drunk adventurer. Luke just shook his head in a no.

"No, Just the money, you can't sell anything because people like asking idiotic questions like "Where did you get this, Child" and "Why do you have this?", it's very annoying."

She deadpanned at him and the blue-haired kid just shrugged in response, he had nothing to add, because what he said was true.

Luke crouched down, picked up the money pouch, and tossed it to her, which she caught.

"Why are we stealing money, though? I need food, not money..."

She muttered just as Luke was standing up. The boy just shrugged, shoving his hands inside his pockets.

"Stealing food is a lot harder since you need a large distraction, we could do it, but stealing money to buy food is easier, and we can get a lot more."

He explained, getting a thoughtful frown from the little girl before she sighed and nodded.

"I guess that makes sense..."

She mumbled, opening the pouch looking inside, and closing it again.

"Food is also cheap, unlike the armor and the weapons, so buying bread, apples, or easily perishable foods in bulk is more manageable."

Alfia narrowed her eyes before nodding seriously. Luke could guess what was going through her head, she wanted food for her sister, whose condition seemed to be worse than hers.

It would be fine for now, I would heal them whenever I could.

__

Luke sat on a rooftop, his body dematerialized as he rested his chin on the palm of his hand as he looked down at the street, keeping an eye on Alfia as she worked.

The blue-haired boy watched with a smirk as she seemingly collided with a man, she apologized and picked up the money pouch that was dropped and handed it to the owner before walking off into an alleyway.

Luke smirked as he followed, dropping into the alley soundlessly, his body materializing right behind her and looking over her shoulder, staring into the money pouch she was holding, full of money.

The trick of filling a pouch with rocks and a few coins to make it seem like the money was still there with the weight and the sound worked rather well.

"You did good."

He complimented and smirked as Alfia jumped a little before turning around and glaring at him. Luke chuckled at her look, finding it adorable.

"Don't do that..."

Oh, he was going to do it as much as he could.
