6 Chapter Five

The stealing didn't go well this time, at all.

Luke maneuvered around the civilians as his tail continued to chase him.

Red eyes narrowed as he sped up considerably, changing directions and entering a maze of alleys that he had time to memorize.

Crouching, the boy jumped up toward a wall, landing softly while bending his knee to not break the wall of someone's house, and sprung up again to the other wall.

Grabbing the edge of the roof and using his advanced strength, he pulled himself up, flinging his body into the sky and looking down to make sure that nobody was following him.

Unfortunately, He was wrong as the blonde boy about a few years older followed him even in the air.

Scowling, Luke fell to the roof, landing into a roll and continuing his run over the rooftops.

Digging into my pocket, he took out a pebble with a single rune inscribed on it. Jumping over a gap between buildings, the child turned his body and threw the rock down.

Light erupted from the point of impact and a startled yelp reached his ears. Taking hold of the opportunity, he dematerialized his body, making sure to not make any sound as he landed.

Luke didn't move, remaining on one knee on the roof as he waited for the blonde to leave finally.

The boy finally shook off the effect of the light rune and looked around, probably to spot him.

He remained in place for a moment, then moved to the edge of the roof, and looked down at the streets and at the startled civilians for a moment.

"He got away."

The boy sighed and turned around to leave.

"Lady Loki will be annoyed."

Luke raised an eyebrow at the boy who jumped down from the roof. Standing up, he ran a hand through his blue hair, frowning. Why would a Goddess be annoyed that he got away... Wait, was she that red-haired guy with slits for eyes? That guy was a girl?

"Heh."

Luke chuckled. He just stole from a god, that was easier than he thought it would be.

That was exciting for a little while, but it was time to go back to normalcy. He turned around and ran off to his next target.

___

"I accept your offer."

Luke blinked, looking over his shoulder. There stood the girl that happened to be on his mind for the past week.

She looked determined, her mismatched eyes staring into his red ones.

Chuckling, he turned around and extended a hand.

"Well then, little miss, good to meet you again, my name is Luke."

The introduction was made again, but the girl took his hand, unlike last time.

"Alfia."

Well, wasn't that nice?

They shook hands and now were standing on the side of the street awkwardly...

Luke didn't really think he would get this far.

"Alright then, I'll make a master out of you yet! But first, we need a safe space to meet up, you know anywhere like that?"

Her raised eyebrow informed him that it was a stupid question. She assumed that he didn't know where she lived and she definitely didn't know where he lived.

Humming slightly, I nodded like I just reached an epiphany.

"You know Daedalus Street, right?"

She nodded.

"Do you happen to live anywhere nearby?"

Her eyes narrowed and she tensed.

"What's it to you?"

Luke ignored her suspicion and raised a finger in the air.

"Well, let's meet there, since rarely anyone is in the rundown parts of it, a meeting there should be safe."

She looked doubtful if the hesitance to agree was anything to go by, so he expected to answer a few questions.

"Why do we need to be in a safe place to begin with?"

Ah, a reasonable question, well, for a six-year-old.

"You can't expect me to just train you in public, do you? Besides, I will not bring you out to the city without teaching you a few tricks first."

Her frown deepened and he chuckled, amused.

This little training session would be entertaining, to say the least. But hey, what kind of human being would he be if he just left two little girls to fend for themselves?
