22 Chapter Twenty-Two

"So, what did you and Loki decide on?"

I asked hestia as we were walking back to our place of residence. Hestia walked in front of me, and she was strangely serious.

"An expedition will be held in two weeks, you will take along, it will be a good experience to see the deeper floors... Just be careful, okay?"

I nodded humming in thought as I cast a glance to the side, my shadow rippling and a part of it darting into another shadow cast by a building.

It morphed into a humanoid shape and walked into the darkness, a head of white hair disappearing into the buildings.

I looked back to the road. That's two shadows already, I could make a few more with my current mana reserve, but that's beside the point.

Revis should already be dead and that Shadow should be getting to making an information network.

Now all I had to do was relax before the expedition.

___

"You know... When you asked for help, I wasn't expecting this..."

I pointed out, Syr smiling sheepishly from the door.

"Sorry, they stacked up when I was slacking- I mean, taking a break."

Mama Mia, yelled at her to get to work and she scurried off into the pub. I hummed for a moment, as Ryuu, the green-haired elf walked up to the sink, next to the other, giant pile of dishes and grabbed one.

"Let me help you with this..."

I hummed as I used élenchos to grab the dishes and the sponge and started washing them since I didn't really have anything to do right now.

Ryuu looked at the floating dishes for a moment, before looking at me with a deadpan, I returned the look before both of us went back to doing Syr's work.

The silence lingered, and weirdly enough, it wasn't awkward.

"Syr likes you."

Never mind, this just got awkward. I sighed inwardly, not really wanting to talk about it, nor caring for the feelings of some random girl, who sometimes was a god and sometimes wasn't.

"I don't."

I responded in the same tone, keeping up with the dishwashing.

"That's going to hurt her feelings..."

She pointed out, and I glanced at her with a raised eyebrow. Right, feelings, If I rejected Syr if she confessed, I would be the asshole.

Who cares how I feel, right? Pfft, that's absurd.

I remained silent as I finished half of the dishes and headed to the door, leaving behind the Elf, and walking past Syr who was leaning against the door, looking down at the ground. Not even bothering to glance at her, I head to the door and exit the hostess of fertility.

Absently I grabbed the throwing knife and started playing with it.

In all my fourteen years of life, I never really thought about it... But why me?

Why was I one to wake back up again? Why not someone else? Adam? Steven? Hirata? Alex? Suzune? Daniel? Michael?

What about them? Why not them? Why me? What did I do? I was brought there accidentally, there were supposed to be seven heroes... I was just hanging out with the twins, Hirata and Suzune at the time they got summoned.

What did I have that they didn't?

That's what I was, an extra, they all had skills that boosted their experience gain, to level up faster, but all I got was this damned skill that took everything, it took the experience from them, it took their hard work, and in the end, it took them from me...

Why was I even-

I felt a sharp pain in my hand while the sound of metal hitting the ground reached my ears, and I looked down at my palm.

Blood dripped to the ground, and I could only stare, frozen on the spot....

I just cut myself...

A patch of long, black hair, warm, blue eyes, and a warm smile flashed in my mind, holding my hand, wrapping a bandage around it.

I took a deep breath as the wound closed, healing and leaving no trace of it behind... That however did not change one thing.

I cut myself... Accidentally...

I clenched my hand a few times as the dagger floated up from the ground into the strap and I released a shuddering breath.

I needed to get my mind off of this... and I had a week and a half to do it...

I turned to the direction of the dungeon.
