Chapter Two

"... Now what?"

I asked. I was still in the same spot, sitting this time. I didn't know what to do. First things first, I needed to figure out what world I was in, but then what? If there was a plot, do I avoid it? Do I fuck everything up?

And that goblin corps was starting to smell. With a grunt, I got up and looked around, it was a miracle that no other monsters were attracted to this spot, but judging from the smell, I guess goblins aren't the best source of food.

Looking around, I sighed when all I saw were more trees. Shrugging, I started walking in a random direction, there wasn't much point in debating where to go when everything looked the same, and I wasn't some master survivalist that can figure out where north is by how many branches a tree had.

Humming slightly, I raised my arm, bending it at the elbow and looking at it like something amazing would happen... Nothing did.

"Fireball."

Without much prompting, a red, glowing circle appeared above his hand, the edge of the ring was double with symbols he did not understand between the two. At the center of it, was a red, five-pronged star, with its tips connecting to the five circles in between two layers, the space between the points of the star was filled with more symbols he couldn't understand but that wasn't important right now. A ball of red flame was hovering above his palm...

"Damn,"

I muttered.

Magic... yeah, that was neat, but more importantly... Fire!

I felt myself smirk. Oh, I was going to have fun with this! Pushing down my excitement, I coughed into my hand and looked forward, staring at the trees that were getting closer as I walked.

"Hey, Bob, can I call you bob?"

[Please don't.]

"I'll call you bob, are there others with a system like me?"

At this point, I was making conversation. I was still interested, however.

[No. The only reason you got the system is that the previous owner got bored and decided that he was done with life.]

… Seriously?

"Must have led a pretty long life, was he another race?"

Must have been, to live long enough to actually get bored of living is... quite unnerving.

[They were human.]

…huh... Well, shit.

"How?"

Would I be like that too?

[Gamers body kept him in his prime and gamers mind kept him from going insane. He traded in the Gamer's body and his body started aging again.]

Uh-huh. Great. I was basically immortal now. Neat. Huffing in amusement, I spared a glance at my menu one more time. looking at the skills silently as I read through some of the descriptions. The fireball spell I learned branched out to another spell, it was named "Fire Blast", a level five spell that had a blast radius, basically an AOE spell, the longer the spell was charged the more damage the blast would do, and took 50MP and then 5 more with every second of extra charge.

Hmmm. Nice. So, the fireball brand gave me wide-range spells, probably AOE attacks, the "Fire Arrow" line would probably grant me more precise, single-target spells, and the "Firewall" would provide me with defensive spells.

That was nice, if I was honest, if I gained some allies, I wouldn't want them to burn along with my enemies if I cast my fire spells in the future... Alternatively...

"heh..."

I chuckled a little and focused back on the road... Yup, still more trees. Oh, wait, there's light!

"Ugh, Sun-ova bitch!"

I covered my eyes as the light attacked me. Why did everything want to hurt me today, damn it? Blinking slightly, I looked around to see the surroundings were darkening slightly. The day was about to turn to night. But it looks like the setting sun wanted to express its hate for me one last time.

Fuckin hell, I'll burn you too, eventually, you bastard!

Blinking a few times for my eyes to adjust, I still kept a hand over them to block off the sun as I looked around the clearing that was getting closer and closer. I could see some buildings in the distance, which was good. It looked like a small city, but the style the houses were made in was indicating that this was either a place that really liked the middle ages... or I was really in the middle ages... Isn't this the time women were burned for being witches?

Will they burn me for being a wizard?

___

I still didn't know if they burned people for being wizards. That was kind of disappointing and unsettling at the same time. If something happened, nothing was stopping me from going ape-shit with fireballs.

Looking around, I raised an eyebrow at the written language, I could understand what was written on the signs, That one said cloth shop, but that was obvious since you know... clothes are shown in the window.

But I could still understand it...

I hummed again, not bothering to count how many times I did that already, and turned into an alleyway.

"Why can I understand the written language, Bob?"

I asked Bob, using his as a legitimate google search, again.

[You didn't know this world's basic language, so the system provided the knowledge of it as soon as you were moved.]

I narrowed my eyes, so, the knowledge of language must have been compensation for something or it must have taken something from him in return...

But that meant that English was useless for me now, so there was no point in keeping it, the problem was, what could I exchange it for, and what would be useful from those options...

If I could change it for the knowledge of magic circles so I could make my own...

"Hey, Bob, can I exchange my knowledge of English for the language used in my magic circles?"

At this point, I was running out of an alleyway. And I needed a map, but I had no money, should have traded in some of that gold for this world's currency, but hindsight is twenty-twenty.

[No.]

Well, fuck you too.

Letting out a sigh, I look around the new street I found myself in, it was mostly normal, children running after each other, women walking around, some putting up laundry, some carrying baskets of vegetables...

Why was it "Mostly" normal? Well, one of the kids had dog ears. Legit, dog ears, they even twitched!

blinking a few times, I rubbed my eyes and narrowed them at the kid again... Yup, they were dog ears, alright. Humming thoughtfully, I continued on my way to nowhere in particular, absently noting that this place was a small city or an unusually large village.

This street seemed very busy, I noted absently as I kept looking around... who to ask, who to ask... I noticed a woman, maybe in her twenties, with brown hair and complimenting eyes, She wasn't carrying anything but her hand was keeping a grip on a child.

She would do.

Changing my course slightly to my left, I made sure that we would be in each other's line of sight as we would walk past each other. And... We passed each other... I forgot to ask her... Did my brain just lag? What the hell was that?

[You're a dumbass.]

Fuck you too, Bob.

You know what? I looked fishy anyway, she would probably be wearied out if I suddenly started talking to her... Why am I like this?

With a sigh, I just walked. It was getting dark and I didn't even know where I was, pathetic. Did I have to be so socially awkward, at a time like this? I really needed directions.

Groaning inwardly at my own stupidity, I continue walking, screw it, who needs directions? Not me!

Narrowing my eyes, I started walking faster. I had a gamer's body, I would not get tired, and I could walk for days! I would end up somewhere sooner or later.

Letting out a huff of irritation, I looked around again, just in case this place had a world map or at least the map for nearby places. Over the buildings, I saw a giant mountain, and that was about it... Seriously?

Letting out an audible groan this time, I continue to look around. A civilian, another civilian, a kid, a guy with a sword on his back, another kid... Wait.

I look back at the guy with the sword, He was wearing armor too, covering only the top of his chest and his shoulders. Blinking at that, I turn my head forward and resumed my observations. Nothing unusual.

There was nothing unusual about someone having a sword in medieval times, now if I saw someone wearing robes and holding a stick with a rock in it like it was a real staff...

Oh, hey, another one.

___

In the end, I didn't find anything.

"Hey, Bob, would you be so kind to tell me what was the name of the place I just left?"

I asked dejectedly, kicking a pebble down the paved road.

[... Its name was Sharm.]

What kind of name was that? sounded like a kid came up with it. Either the founder was a dumbass, or he or she loved their children too much and named the place after the first sound they made.

"Thanks, Bob, what would I do without you?"

[Probably be seen as insane by the locals.]

Ture.

Letting out a hum, I opened the menu and started messing around with the options, looking if I missed anything. After going through everything, I concluded, I didn't miss anything.

So now, I was looking at the skill tree again, viewing my options. There was mana manipulation, but that was it in the non-elemental department. I absently tapped the icon once.

If this was all I could get, maybe this system was something concentrated on making the user a mage. I tapped it again, and the three elements I chose disappeared, showing a few more icons...

I stopped, blinked, blinked again, and continued walking.

So I did miss something. I looked at the new options I had just discovered. Damn you, Bob, for keeping this from me, but I never asked in the first place so I couldn't really blame him.

There were four options, those being Mana enhancement at level six, mana regeneration... I looked at my MP bar, it hadn't regenerated even by one point... Good thing it was level one and required an INT stat of 10 to unlock. Quickly unlocking it, I read over the description and made some quick calculations. The skill regenerated five percent a minute... so 45 MP a minute right now, that would mean that 90 MP would be regenerated in two minutes, so it would take about twenty minutes to regenerate my MP from 0 to 900, not counting any other additional spells I would cast in the meantime.

As soon as the unlock registered, a line extended from the mana regeneration skill, forming another right next to it, simply named "Mana regeneration II".

"Hey, Bob, are there going to be more mana manipulation skills if I unlock all four options?"

[No, the system provides elemental magic and the four basic mana manipulation skills. Anything new will be an upgrade of the previous one.]

Soo... I could technically plagiarize a lot of magic ideas from my old world... All the fanfiction I read in my spare time would come in handy... Suck it, bitches!

Ahem- anyway, the last two were, Mana sense and, weirdly enough, Mana infusion... I had to check the difference between mana enhancement and mana infusion but everything was pretty clear.

Mana sense would allow me to sense anything that gave off mana, and it was a level 7 skill. Mana enhancement would allow me to strengthen my body enough to block blows from sharp objects. I suspected that it would boost my vitality, and depending on how I used it, my strength too. Mana infusion would allow me to transfer my mana into objects, empowering anything I am touching.

"Hey, Bob, Can I make my own skills with Mana manipulation?"

I didn't have to wait long for an answer.

[Yes.]

"hehe~."
