"Huh? I didn't hear you, Ellie." He says and I feel like smacking him. He should really stop calling me Ellie.

Damien has been in my class since Jss1. We have always been at each other's throat. Trying to surpass each other.

But I win most of the time.

"Thank you, Dami!" I shout. Maybe he heard that. He covers his ears and rolls his eyes.

I chuckle and he heads towards my direction.

"You're welcome Ellie" he replies.

"Stop calling me Ellie. You know I don't like it. I'll give you the silent treatment" I huff

" Oh shush. You call me Dami and I don't say anything about it. And let's call a truce na. Exams are over and we are both going to the same university so we can be friends." Damien says and I don't reply to him.

He does have a point. We have both passed our exams and it's time to celebrate.

Well, celebrate by finally leaving my house.

"Truce?" I reach my hand forward giving Damien a handshake.

"Truce"

"You see that wasn't so hard," Damien says and I roll my eyes.

"Hugs?" he says and I will punch him.

"Don't push it, Damien," I say to him and he laughs.

He has the guts to laugh at me.

He needs help.

Damien seats on the bed in an attempt to hug me but then the door opens and he scurries away.

"Danielle, your stepdad won't be able to get you," The nurse says with a sorrowful expression. I guess it's time to fake concern.

"Why ma?" I ask her.

"He was in a knife fight and he's Dead."

I don't know if I should be sad or start dancing.

I am a really bad stepdaughter.
