Chapter 3

Brittany-

Dani: ‘It is getting chilly, and it's almost six. Should I be saying bye, or are you brave enough to give me your night too?’

‘Well, I um, I didn't have plans or anything.’

She looked at me like she was thinking and debating.

Dani: ‘What about the rest of the weekend? Feeling really risky?’

‘Nothing that I can think of, wha-why?’

Dani: ‘I have a place, an event space I guess you could call it. It is an hour or so away. It is the off weekend so no one is there. I am have a new...piece of furniture coming tomorrow, but that is it. Interested in checking it out with me? I have to be honest though, as genuine as my intentions were, they have turned pretty selfish.’

‘What do you mean?’

Dani: ‘You were invited here because I see the way you watch us each week. The truth is, I think you would fit in with us really well. We aren't just a group of friends who do karaoke each week, we are all a part of something bigger. A community that I think you would enjoy, but when you got here, I just enjoyed talking with you, and getting to know you.’

She was acting different from her usual confident manner.

She was shy and blushing even.

I pulled my lower lip behind my teeth.

‘I didn't mind the conversation as it was, but I am curious.’

Dani: ‘So what do you say? Go against the advice your mom gave you about not going off with strangers, and join me at my place? We can pick up take out on the way. Only if you want to, though. No pressure.’

It was against about everything my mom ever told me, but part of it just felt right and exciting.

‘I need to go and pack.’

Dani: ‘There are no clothing requirements at my place, just saying.’

She winked and I nearly choked on my drink.

Dani: ‘Easy girl, I am kidding. Well, not really but yeah, anyways. We can meet somewhere and you can follow, or I will pick you up. Whatever you are comfortable with.’

‘Whatever is easier, I am pretty flexible.’

Dani: ‘Promise?’

She gave me a look and I wasn't sure what to say.

Dani: ‘Told you, I am a shameless flirt. How about I follow you to your place. While you pack I will call us in some dinner at this Italian place on the way that makes an amazing tiramisu. How is that?’

‘Sounds like a plan. So do I need to get anything in particular?’

Dani: ‘Let me raid your panty drawer when we get to your place?’

‘There is a difference in flirting and being a bit too forward.’

I hung my head a little embarrassed, but she gently grabbed my hand and gave it a squeeze.

Dani: ‘Hey, thank you.’

I looked at her a little confused.

Dani: ‘I asked you to tell me if anything wasn't ok. I was curious if you would speak up or not, and I am happy you did. So how about we go get you packed? We have a lot of chatting to make up for.’

Luckily my roommate was away when we got there.

‘Help yourself to a drink from the fridge. I will only be a second, but um, is there, anything I need to make sure and pack?’

Demi: ‘I am feeling like a lazy weekend honestly, I don't get many off. There is a hot tub if you want a bikini, but as I said, no clothing requirements.’

She had devilish smile, but I just headed to my room.

‘You don't back down.’

Dani: ‘Not when I see something I like. You pointed out that I was being forward, but didn't request I stop. Do I need to?’

‘No, not yet. Maybe I like you liking what you see.’

I smiled a bit and closed my door, leaning against it, sighing.

My heart was racing, and so were my thoughts, but I couldn't help smiling.

Maybe I was being a little reckless or crazy, but it felt like the start of a very exciting adventure.
