Crash and Burn

"I'm surprised though. With these grades you'd already have started your University studies," the male in front of me said and I refrained from rolling my eyes, keeping a straight face.

Guidance and counseling they said.

"I'm just keep it on the low dial for now. What fun is there to miss out on high school?" I said and he laughed.

"That's one way to put it. I have to say, I'll give you that. Not many people have their priorities set straight at this age, but if you change your mind. My door is always open."

"Okay," I said before I picked up my stuff and leaving the office.

Seriously, universities? I thought with  a roll of my eyes. I had barely experienced high school, I thought with a sigh as I glanced at my beeping phone. Eve why can't you send texts like normal people or at least ask your goddamn assistant too, I thought with an impatient sigh as I dialed her number.

"Hi, poodle."

"Did you just call me poodle?"

"What can I say you practically prance around like a poodle?"

"Isn't that you, miss I only wear designer clothes?" I asked hearing some shutter sounds on the other side of the phone. Guess she must be in the middle of the shoot but it was something I was used to. Something about being so brazen that I didn't care who listened in or so she said.

"You can't blame me. How's your first day at the new school?"

"Umm, one it's a first day. Of course it's boring. Two, it's school. I think that answers for itself," I said and I heard someone chuckle.

"Come on it can't be that bad. No cute boys."

"I believe your exact words were 'go to school study hard and you'll be done before you know it."

"Smartass. But it still doesn't mean you shouldn't have a little fun."

"She's right you know. Just give it time," I heard Clara her assistant and best friend say and I rolled my eyes.

"I'll consider it some time. I have to go."

"Okay. Talk to you later," she said and I frowned hanging up as I came upto the nurse's office. Yeah, I hated this day and for more reasons than I wanted to count.

"You must be the new girl," a voice came from behind and I almost jumped startled making her chuckle. "Sorry but don't worry the name won't stick for long."

"That's a plus," I said sarcastically and she smiled opening her door.

"Slow start?" she said and I let out a sigh.

"Slow but tedious," I said as she pointed me to the chair.

"Tell me about it. Though I'm guessing you don't have to deal with hormonal teenagers showing up in here with little to none, injuries more or less," she said making me chuckle.

"Really?"

"Don't tell anyone but a small part of me is flattered and likes it but it's just tiresome," she said with a shrug and I smiled. Well, she did manage to qualm the jitters I had about coming here, I'll give her that.

"I'm guessing you're new here."

"I'd say you're right. You're the first and only new student to join here in a long time, I'm the first clinical officer. I'd say we'd have to stick together. Nurse Collins but you can call me Susan or Suzie," she introduced herself holding her hand out and I took it.

"Nice to meet you."

"Same here."

"I don't know about you but I feel like we are going to be good friends," she said with a cheeky smile and I shook my head amused.

Little did I know that that wouldn't be too completely far from the truth.

"Late for Math," I cursed out loud leaving the nurse's office. Maybe I shouldn't have stayed for a chat. The logical reasoning for me on any day is to miss the rest of it, but Tess had already had this talk with me. Who knows I'm new he might not give me such a hard time.

I hopelessly thought. But clearly this was the last straight thought of the day as I crashed into someone. This was not the cliche new girl crashes into some guy she thinks is a wall and it's the beginning of a blossoming of a new relationship after one gaze that leads to a burst of butterflies in the stomach. Well it was minus all those fa la la things. My hands and knees hurt like a bitch where they connected with the floor. And if that wasn't bad enough, the shitty attitude of the guy beneath me was.

"Are you gonna get off now or what?" He snapped and I refrained from rolling my eyes not making any effort to move as I furrowed my eyebrows at him, glaring at him.

"Make me!?" I said and he narrowed his eyes at me almost covering up the surprise on his face. He was probably doing a better job than I was if anything. Usually my first instinct would be apologizing. Not because I exactly meant it but it was what was instilled into me.

"Listen here buster, I'm already having a bad day, after all it's Monday and jetlag is already wearing me down so if you want to play cranky, trust me. I have a lot on you," I snapped and he watched me curiously for a while before smiling.

"You're gutsy."

"And you're obnoxious," I sassed and he laughed making me more infuriated than I already was.

"I can't deny that but babe as much as I like this position and would love to see more of us in it for a first day this could be really bad," he said drawling out the word babe and I cringed.

"In your dreams pervert," I said getting off him yet holding out my hand for him, which he took not exactly exerting any pressure that would otherwise take me with him if he let it.

"Right?" He said looking at me strangely but covered his curious expression with a cocky one. "Try using your eyes more often and next time just hope you won't run into me."

He stated a hint of arrogance in his voice as he walked away from me and I rolled my eyes.

"Jerk," I muttered under my breath and he suddenly turned to me.

"What did you just call me?"

"Try introducing your right ear to your left ear. Should do wonders for you," I snapped back rolling my eyes at him before glancing at my watch. "Oh shit, late for Math."

I cursed under my breath hurrying on to class completely forgetting the blue eyed devil I'd just tackled. But all I could think of all day when the thought came to mind, those iridescent blue eyes had more darkness than any brown eyes I'd ever seen. And I had seen mine.
