Just a Normal Day

Saturday has finally comes, Aiden stretches his arms up to the sky as he wakes up in the early morning of Saturday. He yawns loudly before flinching when his soles touch the cold floor.

He pulls his feet back to his soft mattress before checking his phone to see if his sister had texted him for something that would require Aiden to go home.

He hums as he scrolls down to the conversation that was happening at their class's discord group chat the night before.

Most of their classmates were just talking about some assignments and projects when he catches something unusual for a professor to chat on the group chat.

"@AidentheBitch, sorry about earlier. I didn't mean to scare you. I hope that you forgive me. It was my fault to make you that way and I hope I can make it up to you."

The message was sent by his professor who made him cry for no apparent reason. He sighs and puts his phone away from him as he prepares himself to shower.

Today might be Saturday but that doesn't mean that Aiden could rest during the weekend. His sister makes him work at a local coffee shop for him to experience earning money before he could ask her for something he wants.

He goes to the bathroom and does his morning routine excluding the other parts that would make him regret his decision afterwards. After washing up, Aiden brushes his teeth before walking out of the bathroom with a fresh look.

"Ah~! Cold shower does the trick for this aching body of mine."

He hums along a Korean song that he heard from his classmate while he looks for his uniform that he needs to wear before going to his part time job.

"Ah! Found them!"

He exclaims as he puts his black polo shirt uniform first before wearing his black fitted slacks and black leather shoes.

He looks like a business man from a corporate business going to his friend's casual engagement party with the agenda of flirting with rich potential wives.

Minus the business man and his corporate business and the flirting with women because Aiden is gay.

He sighs as he fixes his boy scout-looking tie around his neck and his cap. Half an hour later, Aiden finally finishes dressing up and good to go. He never usually eats breakfast since the café provides their employees some breakfast before the day starts.

He packs up every device that he has before waking up Cassie to bid her goodbye and for her to lock up the apartment before going back to sleep.

He decides to walk from their dormitory since the café is near from where they live. He puts on his headphones and plays music as he strides the quiet streets of Angeles, Pampanga.

The city is a quiet city during the weekends. Most people and vendors are still asleep and are probably dreaming of reaching their goal to feed their family.

He sighs as he sees his work place and patiently waits for the signal to show a green person, indicating that he can cross the streets.

When the lights show the green man, Aiden crosses the streets as fast as he can before a rouge drunk driver presses the gas pedal too much, making him unable to hit the brakes before Aiden could cross.

Thankfully, none of those scenarios had happened to Aiden before. It is as if there is a guardian angel protecting him but he doesn't believe much about them since his parents are not that religious enough to believe that guardian angels exist.

Aiden greets the guard who is fixing his uniform outside of the café and bows to him before entering the young café where he works.

"Good morning!"

Aiden sweetly greets his manager who is looking less happy to see him this early. His hair is still unruly and he hasn't shaved yet.

"Boss Beet! Cheer up! It's morning! You need to smile more or those wrinkles will get to you."

His boss only scoffs as a response before smacking Aiden's bouncy ass and orders him to put his things at his locker and helps the cashiers on fixing their registers.

"Aww~! I know you love my bouncy ass~!"

Aiden giggles as he shakes his ass to his young and engaged manager who only stares at him with a lustful gaze.

When Aiden notices how he stares, he moves his forefinger from left to right as he clicks his tongue and points at his manager's ring finger.

"Ava, Ava."

With a teasing tone, Aiden chants his manager's fiancée before going straight to locker room and is welcomed by his other friend, King, who is also a friend of Cassie from high school.

"Did you flirt with the manager again?"

Aiden only chuckles as he unlocks his locker and puts his bag inside. He fixes his hair and sprays perfume all over his body as he practices his smile on a small mirror that is hanging from his locker's door.

King stares at him before shaking his head. This is a normal sight for King but he usually asks himself if who is Aiden before he is the bitch that everyone knows at the university.

Aiden never talks about his life before he went to the Philippines, making him known at the mysterious guy in the University. King is always aware of the fact that his other friend is as mysterious as this person in front of him.

She sticks to him like a mother hen and always right behind Aiden when he is in need of help. King wants to ask Cassie about her involvement with Aiden but asking her will feel like asking a wall.

She never gives anyone some answers.

King sighs as he walks out of the dressing room and proceeds to help the cahiers putting money at their registers as Aiden goes out of the room and helps the other employees with their duties inside the kitchen.

Marco, one of the café's employees asks Aiden of his background before he goes to the Philippines, making the others stop from what they are doing and listens to the conversation that is happening right now.

"Hmmm… I was just a normal kid, living in a normal house with some normal friends."

It is a peculiar answer but it is better than nothing. King thought that Marco will stop there but the latter asks further about Aiden's parents and their job, in which Aiden answers swiftly and simply.

"My father is a business man and my mother is a house wife."

His answers seem plausible enough for them to believe. But there is still something about him that made King doubts Aiden's answer before proceeding with their task.

After preparing everything, the manager gives them a word of encouragement before giving out their tasks for today's brief.

The day starts and Aiden's duty is to wait tables and serves their customers.
