157 AWG: Second Chance

(3rd person POV)

"This is…. Very nerve wracking…." Gloria muttered as she and David were heading to the 100th floor of the massive skyscraper that was the AWG HQ.

It was 4:55PM five minute before the required time of the meet up with Shie Yamada, President of the AWG and owner of the massive Paradise resort that they were living in.

"I still can't believe this is happening!" Gloria says excitedly before narrowing her eyes and grabbing David's ear hard.

"And it's all becuase you pulled some stupid stunt just to get extra Eddie's on the side in a prestigious high school like this one huh?!"

"Ma! I said I was sorry already, now will you let go please?! I think it's about to tear off!" David whined a bit before Gloria snorted before letting him go as he rubbed his ear to help ease the pain.

"Your lucky I haven't grounded you because of the shit you pulled! Now fix your hair! Stand straight! Fix your tie! And be respectful to the man who helped made our life for the better!" She said to him as he rapidly fixed his clothes and hair as they reached the 100th floor and stepped on out.

And it wasn't an office like they expected but it actually seemed to be that floors 100-103 were converted into a three story villa/apartment as they stepped out into a fancy living room and entrance area.

"…. I wonder how much this costed to build and furnish with all this preem things?" David muttered as he looked at all the art, sculptures as well as fancy furniture along with a huge aquarium full a many different varieties of fish and even some that should be considered extinct by 2075.

*Grrrrrr* they turned to the sound of growling to see a Doberman, also another extinct type of dog, appear from the top of the stairs and growl down at them.

This made the two nervous as they thought the dog would attack as it bared its fangs at them but then-

*Whistle!* "Spike! Don't be rude to the guests! Now go sit back in your room, your food is in there." They heard a man call out as he stepped out from another room up on the thrid floor as he walked down to the second to rub the dogs head calming him down.

"Now go on and get your food boy!" He said before snapping his fingers as Spike sagged his tail before running upstairs to go get his food.

"Dogs, they can be such a hassle sometimes, but welcome, welcome to my humble abode." The man said as he stepped on down wearing and opened white tuxedo with black long sleeved shirt underneath with black slacks along with only black socks on as he was shoeless.

"You two must be David and Gloria! We'll come on in, take you shoes off at the door and relax." He said motioning towards the shoe stand area where one could put them off to the side.

So they listened and did just that before stepping on the luxurious cashmere carpet before sitting down at there designated seats as Shie went to sit before them.

"Now before we get down to business and later the meal I have prepared, how about some drinks? Ask for anything you like and the servants will bring it posthaste." He says with a gentle smile which calms the mother/son pairs nerves a bit at least.

"I will have…. some coffee." Gloria said slowly and carefully.

"I'll just have some lemonade." David said but he wanted to try some alcohol instead.

"Alright then, Left! Right! Get me a Blue Hawaiian, Iced Irish Coffee and a Bourbon Tea for me as well." He said getting all three specfically alcoholic drinks as two presumably Russian style statues turned out to be robots that bowed before going over and making those drinks specifically.

Recovering from her intital shock of the statues turning out to be actual functioning robots she looked at Shie with a frown, "Your giving a 16 year old alcohol at an important meeting like this?"

But Shie just shrugged, "It's more to calm the nerves that you both have, also it will make it easier for all of us if your calmed a bit before I talk about what I wish to discuss with you both." He says and not long later all three drinks were made, brought and served to them all as the Twins stood behind Shie.

He then went and raised his glass which they both did the same, "Cheers." He said before they drank a bit of their drinks and putting them down.

And while the alcohol content wasn't huge it did calm them a bit and Even David enjoying the drink, "Mmm! What is in this? It doesn't taste anything like alco-" he says and stops mid sentence as he sees out of the corner of his eyes as his mother is giving him 'The Look'

"Hooo? And when did my little boy begin to drink alcohol to know what it tastes like huh?" She said but before it could get into a heated argument they both heard Shie laughing at the sight.

"Oh man hooo! I'm sorry it's just funny because it's like seeing my younger self right now, it's almost word for word the situation I was in when I was a kid when my mom found out I drank before the first time I was supposed to." He said with a chuckle which basically stopped the imminent fight between mother and son in its tracks.

"But we are getting a bit side tracked here, you can lay it into your son later if you want, now it's time why I brought you both here." He says before leaning forward while using his hands to hold his chin up as he stared at them making them get nervous again (Insert the Gendo pose from Evangelion here)

"But don't worry this is a good thing, and even if you refuse I already convinced my wife to remove your sons pending suspension as I personally don't want to seem like I'm not giving people, that aren't my enemies or corporate rivals, a choice in their decisions that could effect their entire lives after all." I say which makes David really relieved as he leans back in his seat.

"Yes while my wives are rather sticklers for the Rrrrules as they both like to say if I say otherwise they give in rather quickly, but now let's talk about why you both are here, or more specifically why you are here David." Shie says as he pulls out a folder from his suit before laying it on the coffee table in front of them both and opening it to let them see what's on it which was David's Biometric data.

"David remember all those tests and scans you went through before starting school, well I will let you in on why those tests were made, they were to see the bodies capacity for Cyberware at a safe level and David you are one of the more special ones out there, your body could handle being more than 70% reconfigured with Chrome before the strain gets to your head, and if you weren't in day such a good living conditions and the like it would still be a high 50's for how much your body could handle overall." Shie goes to explain as both David and Gloria looks over the data.

"I-I don't quite understand sir, why does this seem important?" Gloria said in both confusion with a bit of worry to her voice as well.

"Why? Well it's simple really, you see your son has a gift that most others don't have or don't realize they have it due to them not having enough money to capitalize on it, David may I ask you a question?" He says before turning to David and asking him.

"Uhh… y-yeah sure." He says with a bit of a stutter before nodding.

"David I have to ask that, do you want to actually become a Corpo that leisurely works behind the desk all your life, an easy life but a very boring one, or do you want something so much more but in return for the excitement the danger is just as high?" He asks him seriously which leaves him deep in thought.

"Sir you can't be-" Gloria says but Shie holds up his hand as he looks at her with a stern look.

"Gloria, I know that it's a parents job to care for their children and keep them from any harm but you should know how scary and dangerous this world even is, what you think is best for him maybe true but it doesn't change how dangerous the world is." He says which makes her stop completely before looking over at her son.

"I…. I don't really know in all honesty…. Up until recently all I could think of was making mom proud and getting a good job and future for myself so I could be set for the easy life…. But I knew that…. That really wasn't meant for me…. I mean moms health was starting to get worse from all the stress and overwork she was being put through to put me into Highschool at Arasaka Academy, but now moms got a good job that doesn't work her to death, I have a Highschool that's free of charge and I'm even getting A's in all of my classes and being on top of my class but…." He says before stopping as Shie sees him look down as he restlessly begins to shake his leg.

"But deep down, you had a feeling that life isn't the life you truly want now is it?" Shie asks which makes David calm down before he nodded.

"Oh David…. I…. I'm so sorry…. I-" Gloria began to say but David shook his head.

"It's not your fault mom, you just thought what was best for me, but I really do want something more from my life, even if it's dangerous but I promise mom I won't end up like what happened to Pops." He said holding his mothers hand to reasure her worry's.

"This is quite touching to see, and I am sorry to interrupt but back on track, there's actually good news if David takes me up on this offer I have for him." Shie says interrupting their family moment before pulling out a data pad and handing it over to them.

David grabs it and looks it over for a bit before looking up at Shie and handing it over to his mother, "You want me to become a Merc for the AWG?"

"Haha, oh there is more to it than that Mr. David Martinez, so much more." He said with a smile as he began to shape the future of the Martinez's even more than ever before.

And this the beginning of a new legendary Mercs story had just begun.
