1 Prologue 1 - Let's start the game!

A/N: Hello and welcome to the first chapter of this fanfiction. Before it gets started I would like to say that this fanfic contains Gender Bender. To elaborate, the main character is a male placed in a female body, not going to lie, it's my guilty pleasure. It is an insert of someone from this world (fictional of course) placed into Danganronpa. If you don't like this type of thing then I'd advise not reading. This is my first time writing something on this scale, so it will probably be bad. If you're not bothered by any of this then read to your heart's content. :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The night was waning and it was time for some well deserved rest. 2 weeks of exams had been completed and it was time for me to rest. Perhaps tomorrow I'll finally replay Danganronpa 2, after all this time I still can't help but love the characters. In my opinion they are better than the other Danganronpa casts.

Before this story truly begins I would like to introduce myself, my name is Adam Lunarphase -quite a unique last name if you ask me- a 15 year old boy. I'm just a lonely secondary school pupil with hardly any friends to pass the time with. It's to be expected as I am quite chubby and ugly, I also have no self confidence whatsoever. The stress of being in my final year is beginning to pile up and I don't think I'll be able to last until I can finally escape. But I digress.

Picking up my phone I scour the internet for some source of entertainment before I finally decide to fall into a deep slumber. As it was already on my mind, I decided to search up 'Danganronpa 2 Goodbye Despair' in the search bar and voila! Scrolling down I could see videos of a couple playthroughs, but what stuck out to me was this one video with a strange title. 'What if: Akame the Ultimate Assassin - Danganronpa 2!'

"What? Akame from Akame ga Kill in Danganronpa 2? As an Ultimate Assassin?" I hadn't thought of that possibility before. "I suppose that would be cool to see, but even if she is an assassin isn't she a swordswoman like Peko, wouldn't that clash with her Ultimate talent? Oh well I'll just watch it before my phone dies"

Pressing my chubby fingers against the screen the video popped up instantaneously. What appeared first was a bedroom, it was a traditional Japanese room with a tatami floor. There was a pixelated figure standing in the middle of the room, which just so happened to look like Akame. After a few seconds of staring into a mirror she turned around and began to walk off screen. The screen faded to black.

"Damn it, why did my phone have to die right at the start… oh well I guess I'll call it a night"

I placed my phone on the stand next to my bed and turned onto my side. After about 5 minutes I finally drifted off to sleep.

What I wasn't aware of due to being deep within my slumber was the fact that my phone started shining a light brighter than any star ever could and swallowed the entire room along with myself. My body began to break down and got sucked into my phone…

— ??? —

My body began to stir, opening my eyes. I was greeted by an unfamiliar sight. The room I currently inhabit looked exactly like the one in the video I watched. The Tatami floor, sliding doors, single futon and large mirror were the only contents of the room. I could also see Murasame, the Teigu used by Akame to slay many foes attached to the wall.

Upon trying to get up off the futon I was resting on, I noticed a significant irregularity. I seemed much lighter, but in a certain area I felt a weight I wasn't used to. Stumbling over to the mirror placed near the sliding doors with what little balance I had, a beautiful girl could be seen sliding into view. It was Akame… no it's safe to assume I AM Akame.

"What the HELL is going on here? Why have I become Akame, someone change me back now!" I exclaimed with anger and most importantly shock. My anger had quickly been suppressed when I heard the voice projected from me, even with my angered tone I sounded just like her, being voiced by the super talented Sora Amamiya.

Taking in what I had become. Pure black hair that is so long it reaches the knees with two long strands falling down right next to the chest area, wow it must take a lot of time and shampoo to keep it in top condition. Clear red eyes, they certainly do look beautiful. Flawless and slender arms, but you can see the signs of hard work put in. Similarly to the legs, you can see how toned they are.

It was quite strange to not be wearing pajamas, seeing as I had just woken up. Instead it was the garments worn by her in the series. A black sleeveless dress with a white collar and a red tie. A red belt attached to a red armor-like piece protecting her left side over a black pleated skirt. To finish it off she -maybe I should say 'I have'- has long black socks that reach up to half way between her knees and her shoes which are also black.

Once again I had come to a realisation, something so obvious that it could hurt any man. "AHHHH MY FRIEND HAS DISAPPEARED!" I quickly felt down in the lower area and my sadness was justified, my only buddy had left me. It seems I really have become a girl and a freaking beauty at that. The last obstacle for me to cover were the mountains on my chest - sounds very weird saying that not going to lie-. I'm not sure about this, but is it normal for them to be 'this big'? It must be the anime girl genes.

As tempted as I was to inquire further, it was time I got my act together. Just as I was about to ponder how I had gotten here, a lightning-like surge struck my brain. Pain immediately followed as I was shown the memories of almost an entire childhood.

A minute or so later the pain had stopped. Things I didn't know before all seemed clear as day now. With these memories I was able to learn about this version of Akame and that a certain school known for killing games popped up in the list of memories shown.

To sum it up, this Akame had a sister, who just so happened to be called Kurome. Instead of both of them being sold to someone or something, it was only Akame. You see, her parents were quite influential in the economy and they had plotted against a rival company, but it had failed. The rival family hired a group of Assassins called, you guessed it… Night Raid to kill them for their evil deeds.

During the attack, Akame's parents bribed them with whatever they could, they even offered up their eldest daughter as a bargaining chip to keep them alive. After the confrontation they took Akame with them. They proceeded to train her for five years, she was five at the time. At the age of ten, they sent her out into the field for a mission. It was completed in an unheard of time, with an unknown level of skill and finesse, she was said to have so much talent that it would be impossible for her not to be invited to Hope's Peak. For Akame, it deeply hurt her and to help prevent herself from breaking down she hides her emotions and rarely talks to others.

Each night she would be plagued by a nightmare of her first kill, whoever that person was, I couldn't see it in the memories I had received. But I don—

My examination of the memories were interrupted by a monotone beep that replayed several times. With what seemed like muscle memory, I reached into a little pocket in the red skirt armor and pulled out a red knife. I held up my guard.

An evil laugh resonated through the room, it sounded very familiar. Even this body felt the tiniest bit of shivers at the recognition of this twisted chuckle. A hole in the ceiling appeared almost instantly and what fell out, well let's just say it confirmed a couple suspicions that I had.

A black and white teddy bear. The white half, donning a face of cuteness and innocence. The black side though, was that of a devil, an ever present maniacal grin plastered onto it's left side.

Still, the barbaric savage kept on laughing to himself for a little while until he began to speak. "Upupupupu, did you enjoy your little discovery? It makes you want to feel despair right?" The way he spoke makes me think it's a rhetorical question, so I won't answer him.

He awkwardly stared at me, waiting for my answer. It took him a few seconds to realise I wasn't going to fall for his tricks.

I finally decided to speak up. "After what had just happened with me being put in this body and all the memories I've seen, I find it quite hard to be surprised anymore." Even with my knowledge of Danganronpa and the amount of time I've had to deal with his bullshit —whoopsies excuse my language— while playing the game I'm not going to feel despair because of this whining bear.

"Aww.. such a waste of time, I should have done this before you were given your new body's memories :(" He turned around and waddled over to the wall, punching it in frustration. Despite that, nothing seemed to be taking any damage.

After a minute of awkwardly watching him take his anger out on the poor walls, I thought it would be good to ask him the reason why I'm here. How I got here and why I became an anime girl.

"I can see you have brought me here for a reason, so I'd like you to tell me. Also, tell me how I got here and why I became Akame from Akame ga Kill?"

Slowly stopping his assault on the wall, he turned to greet my stare. " Weeeeelll, if I'm gonna be honest with you, it's because The Creator wished for this to happen. On the topic of The Creator, don't let anyone know I told you this, you becoming an anime girl is kind of his guilty pleasure! Upupupupu…"

The Creator? They put me in this mess huh? Even with the skills and talent I've acquired in assassination, I'm positive they won't have any effect on someone who can send me to a whole different place and put me in a different body.

"Now tell me Monokuma, where do I go from here? If you're here it's definitely got something to do with Danganronpa."

His demonic eye began to glow red, most likely in excitement. "YUP, you 'Mr. I'm now a girl' will be put through the ULTIMATE trial. Also known as, A KILLING GAME!" At the end of the answer it felt like he was emitting inhumane malice.

"Seriously?"

"Yup." Even with the short answer he was able to confirm the horrible feeling I got from this situation.

"Sigh… Here's my next question, which Killing Game will I be joining?"

He proceeded to laugh to himself again. "Upupupupu… I just knew you were going to ask me that question. If you really wanna know then… It's The Killing School Trip. The killing game you love sooooooo much." He continued speaking. " Before you get excited, I'm just going to tell you something important… no matter what you do, you will not be able to prevent any murder that occurs in this game. For they are all fated to happen. It's making you despair already right?"

He was right, I did feel a tinge of excitement. Perhaps it was from the idea that I could meet these wonderful characters, or it was the feeling of being a participant of a killing game. Whichever one it was I'm not sure. He was right again, the fact that I won't be able to prevent anyone from dying truly hurt me inside. I started to get frustrated, impatient.

"All right all right, can you just hurry up and send me there. I'm getting tired of you already, you piece of crap." My body language didn't match with the tension laying in my voice. It seemed it would take a little while before I got used to this body, for obvious reasons.

"*sniffle* You don't have to be so mean to me." I had a hard time deciding whether he really was upset, or he was acting just to make me feel bad. "If you really want to know… then walk through the sliding doors and you will find the answer"

Robotically turning to the left I gazed at the previously mentioned doors, they looked like regular Shoji (Sliding doors) they had nothing unique about them. I cautiously marched over to the doors, my body tensing up more and more as I got closer to the door, ready to defend myself in the case of an attack. I peeked over my shoulder to see Monokuma relaxing on a hammock drinking a cocktail. I'm not sure where he got them from, but if my situation is possible then I'm sure it's fine.

After taking a sip, he lifted his head up and waved very slowly. After a second or two of staring I rotated my head around back to the doors. After a long exhale, I gripped onto the doors and slid them open. A stream of energy rushed towards me, it looked like binary code. My body spontaneously tried to fight back, but it was stuck in place and my eyes were forced to take it all in. Then, everything went black.

-- ????? --

There was a door. It was very familiar, for it had been the door that Hajime or should I say Izuru walked through to get into the classroom. It was a simple wooden door, just like the one I went through previously, it was also a sliding door. Making haste, even when I knew nothing of danger was present past this door my body kept it's guard up. Taking another second to calm myself, I hardened my resolve and tugged on the handle of the door. A white light shone as it opened, temporarily blinding me.

-- The Classroom --

When the light faded, what awaited me was a classroom. A big chalkboard and a set of 16 lockers resided in the back of the room. Scattered around the classroom were 16 desks and chairs, which would have been 17 if Ryota Mitarai the Ultimate Animator was present.

At the front of the classroom resided a large wooden railing and behind it was a wooden pedestal. It had the Hope's Peak Badge printed on the front and more chalkboards had been placed behind the pedestal.

The only current residents of this classroom were me and another girl. It was someone I knew well, someone that had suffered the wrath of Junko Enoshima.. twice. The girl had short pale mauve hair that curled outwards, but the hair near her face remained curled inwards. She had a white Galaga hairpin attached to the left side of her hair. Her clothes consisted of a white button-up shirt with a dark teal-gray front placket. Also she wore a tealish grey cardigan which had grey horizontal lines running along her sleeves and hem, her cardigan's hood had two feline ears, eyes and a mouth resembling a cat. A beige pleated skirt, similar to what I was wearing just black instead -still brings tears to my eyes just saying that- along with black thigh-high socks and light pink Mary-Jane style shoes with white soles. To finish off her look, she had a light pink ribbon tied around her neck in a bow and a pale pink backpack.

It was Chiaki Nanami, The Ultimate Gamer. Chiaki quickly noticed my presence, but didn't utter a word as I made my way to the seat right next to her. I saw her take out a handheld console, in which she began to play while I assumed she was waiting for everyone else to arrive.

-- 10 minutes later --

Me and Chiaki hadn't exchanged any words, we sat there in silence while the other members of class 77-B entered the room.

Everyone had arrived, minus the protagonist as per usual. The majority of the class talked to each other, asking each other questions about who they were or when class was going to start. Whenever someone attempted to start a conversation with me, most likely to ask for my name and Talent I'd only mutter my name, without mentioning my talent. I am quite socially inadequate to say the least, of course to hide that I'd have to follow in Akame's footsteps. I just chose to call myself Akame for the time being, no last name.

After every response, I'd get a slow nod and an awkward few seconds without any interaction before the person would walk away to talk to someone else. The more disruptive individuals such as Nekomaru, Hiyoko, Teruteru and Ibuki ignored my aloof answer and pestered me for a better reaction.

Click. Slide. The door opened for the final time to show the main protagonist in all his glory. The average looking boy stepped into the classroom looking dazed. The always on-guard Peko was the first to call out to him.

"Who goes there?"

He remained silent until he quietly muttered to himself. "...Eh?"

The next person to call out and show concern was the graceful Princess Sonia. "Um… are you feeling alright? You look quite pale…"

Hajime remained flustered as he struggled to find the answer to her question. "Ah, um…" If it was me in the past I'd probably react the same way.

After that everyone noticed that the plain boy was too confused to offer up a tangible response.

"Hey, could you be… You're also a freshman at this school, right?" The red head Mahiru expressed her own thoughts. Probably to try and wake him up from the confusion.

A moment of realisation came to Hajime when he finally offered up his own question to us, but it was half a question, half an answer . "Ah then… you're all…?" Many pauses had been littered through his responses, he must be uncertain right now.

The back and forth questions and responses got a little stale, I sat on the desk with my head resting on my hand staring at the wall in front of me, while I ignored the conversation. Seeing as I already knew what was being said. I could see Teruteru running towards the door in fright, most likely he was trying to see if we could leave. The white haired boy Nagito vocalised his thoughts, mentioning how maybe this was an entrance exam only to get shut down by a 'cutesy voice', borrowing the words of the fiery Fuyuhiko.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and gazed towards the center podium. After moments of suspense, a white bunny wearing a pink and white frilly dress with wings and a magical wand of some sort appeared out of nowhere as if it was magic. Even now I could hear the soundtrack that was played here in my head, it felt strange.

The majority starred in puzzlement, shock and confusion with the exception of me and Chiaki. It took a small fraction of time for anyone to speak a single word, it even felt like everyone stopped breathing due to the instability of the situation. The one to break free from the chains of terror they were feeling was Sonia, who posed the question that I'm sure everyone wanted answering. "What...is that…?"

"Um… It looks like a stuffed animal…" Mahiru offered up an answer with clear apprehension.

The bunny looked ready to give it's own answer. "That's right, I am a squeezably soft stuffed animal." It continued. "Magical Miracle Girl Usami… A.K.A. Usami!"

Everyone continued to stare in confusion, looking around the room I could feel the panic emanating from them. I looked over to Nagito who had a weird expression on his face, he noticed and looked towards me, smiled and waved. I lingered my gaze on him for a second before turning back around.

"I may not look like it, but I am your squeezably soft teacher. Nice to meet you all!"

Panic began to ensue, starting with Teruteru who asked if he was hallucinating. Then they began to argue about what a chihuahua was, due to the statement from Akane who said "What's with this talkin' Chihuahua?"

They began to discuss the idea that Usami was a remote controlled robot. The man who would know about these things -Kazuichi- made the point that she looks too lifelike to be a remote controlled toy.

Again, I wasn't paying too much attention, I was waiting for 'that moment' so I could go on my own and think to myself about my gameplan.

Now when I heard Usami shout the words "Now let's depart for the fun school trip!" I knew it was 'game time'. She cast her magic spell, a pink light and sparkles emitted from her wand. The ceiling began to come apart, the walls followed and after the light reached my retinas what awaited me was what some would call a tropical paradise. The crashing of the waves against the shore, the salty smell of the sea and the whistling of the palm branches made it absolutely clear. We were on a tropical island.

Hajime the Orange Juice man was the first to shout in discomfort, "What… the hell is this!?"

They began freaking out, so much so that I got pretty irritated by their shouting.

"Please.. Just stop shouting, all of you calm down." It sounded like I was tired of their blabbering and yes I was, they looked at me in shock as if I hadn't spoken before and I guess that was kind of true, even though I am socially weak I can hold my own and tell others when they need to shut up. "Just let Usami explain herself before you go wild like a bunch of unhinged savages."

"Thank you Akame, yes please everyone calm down and I shall explain. There is no need to panic. Feast your eyes on this beautiful ocean… It's like your heart is being washed clean , isn't it? It washes away everything...even all the bad things..."

"Hold on, give us the details…! Where in the world are we?" Peko questioned.

" "Where", you ask…? Well, obviously we're… "Out where it's better! Out where it's wetter!" … Out by the Sea!" Usami pranced around joyfully as she said it.

The nervous wreck Mikan cries in fright. "I-I understand this is the sea, but what are we doing here!?"

Sigh, more and more complaining and questions that Usami obviously isn't going to answer such as, "We were just at school and now we are by the sea… This is impossible…" and "Why are we on a school trip all of a sudden!?" along with "We're all supposed to be attending Hope's Peak Academy"

All of that complaining fell apart when Usami told us all to "forget about Hope's Peak Academy". The Ultimate Imposter or should I just call him Byakuya for now, spoke up in anger, "Hey… what are you? Just what are you scheming?" Usami reacted in shock and disgust.

This went on and on. She finally got into the details and explained that we were on an uninhabited island that was free from danger. Nagito, like the guy he is, brought up the crazy but ironic idea that they were brought to this island to kill each other, he is quite smart if you think about it. After a few questions we or should I say they, found out that if they wanted to leave they would have to strengthen their bonds and collect all the hope fragments. Which is the main rule of the "heart-throbbing school trip".

A few seconds after everyone took in the information and Usami officially called the start of the trip, one brown haired boy's mind stopped working and he fell onto his back. Luckily, I prepared for it and caught him before he hit the ground. What a nice guy I am, or girl, jeez I have GOT to get used to this quickly.

Everyone decided to go explore the island, basically ditching me to look after Hajime. Similar to the game, Nagito also chose to stay behind. Guess I won't be able to have a breather anytime soon.

A/N: And that's that, the first chapter is done. I'll have the next chapter posted sometime next week. As you've probably noticed, some dialogue will be skipped over, it's called being lazy. When it comes to trials I'll do dialogue like this : "Me: *insert dialogue* ".

If you're reading this, then thank you very much!
