1 Alexa Bruce

Dreams, passion and ambitions are the elements of life that pushes every teenager to strive more and Alexa was no different. She has always had this dream of becoming a dancer and there was only one way to make it a reality. That's to pass her entrance exams to Liberty College.

It is Alexa's final year in 11th grade and final exams was drawing near. She sat behind her study table, deeply immersed in her book when a loud voice intruded.

"Alexa..., Alexa..."

"Yes...mum..." She heaved an inaudible sigh, dropping her pen on the table as she waited in anticipation for her mother's words.

"Can you come down for a minute?"

"Alright.., I will be there soon."

"Okay dear..." her mother replied, her voice fading away.

Alexa glanced down on the books before her and winced, slowly pushing her chair as she stood up.

"Alexa....."

"Gosh..., I'm coming mum..." she exuded as she staggered out of her room. She got to the hall to meet her mother standing in the center of the room.

"What kept you?"

"Seriously mum..?" she tilted her head. "I just came rushing down at your call. Besides, It wasn't like I wasn't doing anything."

"Alright, alright, I'm sorry. Here, I want you to get groceries from town and also pass by your Auntie's place. She said she wants to see you."

"Okay.. but why does Auntie Hilda want to see me?"

"Well..., you will get to know when you get there." Her mother replied and sauntered off to the backyard.

She looked down on the list in her hands as she shuffled back to her room. She placed the list on the table, glided over to her wardrobe, took out a pair of blue jeans coupled with a turquoise blue top and got into them.

She slipped her leg into her sandals and picked her mini bag from the side drawer beside her bed and threw it over her shoulders. She looked herself up in the mirror and took the list from the table, placing it in her bag. She slowly pulled the door, about to step out but stopped midway.

"Oh, I almost forgot." she went back to her bed and snatched the headset which was laying on it and dashed out.

"I'm going mum....." she shouted.

"Alright dear.." her mother walked in from the backyard. "Take care of yourself and don't forget to send my regards to your Aunt."

"Okay..." she cocked her head and sauntered out of the house, slowly closing the door behind her.

Just has she stepped out of the house, she fixed the headset into her phone and plugged them into her ears.

She stood there for a short while as she inhaled the fresh breeze and smiled before continuing on her walk, cocking her head to the rhythm from the music she was listening.

After some few minutes of walking, she got to the bus stop. She glanced down on her wrist watch and sighed,

"Just in time..." she mumbled taking her seat in wait for the bus. Not long as she settled down then the bus pulled up. She picked up her bag and shuffled in, settling by the window at the far end. Though there were not much people on it, Alexa preferred the back seat since it posses some kind of relaxation and a great view for her.

She relaxed in her seat, glancing through the window as the bus passed through the town. She was enjoying the view when she heard her phone rang. She sat upright as she rummaged through her bag, reaching out for it. After some seconds, she pulled it out, checking the caller ID as she answered.

"What's up Curtisia?"

"Cool girl, what about you?"

"I'm good..., so what's going on?"

"Well..., I heard from mum that you will be coming around today so I'm calling to check on you."

"Mm.., I see. Anyway, do you know why Aunt wants to see me? You know I kind of find it boring with all those her long talks."

"I don't really know but I think it maybe something really important. Probably about your school or something like that."

"Ooh..., about my school huh? I guess they have been discussing about me behind my back. Anyway, I'm on my way but I have to pass by the supermarket for some groceries."

"Alright, anyway, about your dancing dream. How far with it?"

"Well.., I'm still on it. Let's talk more about it when I get there."

"Okay..., I will hang up then."

"Alright, see you later. Bye..."

"Bye..." Curtisia replied and the line went dead.

Alexa sighed and returned the phone into her bag. She lifted her eyes to the road and noticing the traffic jam, snorted.

"Saturday's traffic? God..." she gaped, relaxing in her seat. "Today is really going to be a long day."
