Dairies of a lost soul; Beyond Boundaries.

This was originally a delicious box of old scrap personal diaries that follow a stranger. Although as the further into the books I became, I had the urge in seeking the rest of it. Given this was a time of machines. I had my luck in finding the right souls. A sort of system has scanned, registered and submitted all data into some hidden storage database. Apparently 'any alterations were consult with administrator. All data from corresponding subjects was included among the scanned records, sometimes blended into the narrative. Makes for easier storage and reading flow.' I wasn't the only one who fell into the reading then. ___________________________________ Real Author (Kittah): This story is not a typical female lead novel, not a lot of romance but coping in a post apocalypse. Which I don't get why female lead novels have to have a element of romance. It starts out as a diary should but further on, things change. The world around was the one we know of now but this story is later set in the unknown future. At times it can feel like I am trying to write a horror novel, but that's not what it is. This really is just a bumpy journey of a female character. I must rewrite my disclaimer which is the author note of chapter one. This seems like it relevant to today with the global pandemic. However the inspiration is my personal experience during the swine flu outbreak in the UK around 2012 or 2013. The majority of this story is prewritten but I have been changing it since putting it online. And, yes story does spill over into the author notes. You will understand in the later chapters. It's a writer's choose. May the odds be in your favor.

A blank template figure of a false AI is all that stood out from the scenery. A old world looping in the hazy of ghost images of pure humans crossing roads. There is a soft breeze the chills from moving vehicle traffic. The straining sight on the neon flashing of digital signs of adverts or shop signs. All of the faces of strangers are a blur, showcasing that the video recording aspect of this world had to be tampered.

The visuals of many walking humans along a market street were slowing down significantly. This world was busy of humans and animals. A pigeon about to land over near a old couple, the bread crust of a sandwich frost mid throw. A small family of another couple and three children slurred speech, the merry cheery rants of the fiver year old and the 2 year old silenced. A open market fruit stall holder with arm posed over a stack of apples, stuck with a hand holding a note of money from a client across from them. The only road with car was slowing into a stop, slight blur of how fast it was relative to the cameras lens.

Silent isolation, at reach of something so real yet so fake.

JH: 'Wasn't this what you been trying to find out about from us? You wanted to know what real humans were like, right?'

P.g: 'What are you doing?'

The sounds came crashing through in sudden hard pull. Movement of passing ghost data images took on rending alteration. It was of this moment that the avatar for Poison looked up from a newspaper, stood in a newsagent diagonally across from the coffee shop. Jackle was directly across from the fruit stall at a class coffee café, a tray of a cake and drink placed down. Kate already seated leaned lazed in glaring at poison failure to blend in a world without machine servants.

This world although made of her memories, was not the real life that was back then nor was it the real life of radiation waste lands. This is her happy place and her nightmare, all in one place. This landscape was her dream without any assistance from any machines. Jackle had manage to recover this place into a database package of his own, alter into a interactive simulation and with the right amount of processing - this felt real. All thanks to the trick of the mind and nanotechnology trickery. This is of course not of the knowledge of poison at the time, the being was trying to pretend to be a robotic AI program. Yet curiosity got over the best of the thing, slipping that act as things changed.

"At least the thing know not to steal from a newsagent." Kate looked away, picking up one the many selection of drinks presented to her. She does her best at the recall of the wonderful welcome flavouring of lemon iced tea; even down to the texture of the cup that she was drinking from.

The chatter of a group of 14 children nearby caught her, a younger version of herself with her friends. They sat at the statue of the plaza across the busy car traffic, mostly shouting about what monster was caught on a mobile game. It only made the flavour of the lemon tea stronger, as this was the same drink that version of her was enjoying.

"Jackle? Why did you ignore me?" He stood in a fine white suit, the mock chromatic skin that was at least mock texture of human skin and with fancy sunglasses to hide the inhuman cameras eyes. He was decent at least, fits in with the narrative of the dream. He stays standing above the table, immoveable and focused on somewhere else.

"Would you like some cake?" Kate her hand gestured as offering a seat across from her, "A drink?"

Poison looked around the movement of 'life', none of them would answer poison before. There was real debate with Poison about what was going on and what to do. This thought slide in how Kate snatched the hand, pulling poison avatar away from a bike cyclist. That grabble of the hand was real... warm even. Enough to freak poison to flinch, taking the hand away. Scared with now walking around... taking seat across from Kate.

"Are you really a program? I mean, were you even part of the nanotech system?" Kate could help her anger with it. More correctly, how fooled she was in believing it. Swindled for so long, letting it be 'her'. She felt like a idiot but she held back with wanted to do something about it all. She wanted to give back the treatment that it created. This would at least sooth her when it was done.

Muted system notice: command to attempt data packaging and extraction of all data from client 2. Process has stable connection, estimation of completion - 5 hours. Client is unable to stop process nor back down from already accepting request.

The little thing posed as a machine is all stiff now, putting on a blank face and tries hard to ignore the scent of the food wafting over it. It knows that something wrong is going on, its mind being melted in three places at once. But the sharp focus was now on the world it thinks it sees as real. The left foot nerviously tapping.

This scent to Kate was like that of walking through a fun fair: caramel apples, waffles and cotton candy. There was a little lace of fresh blooming flowers; a orchard of fruits like that on the stall of the loud mouth behind them. Poison was ever more worse acting while Kate acted not notice the drool.

"What is this place?"

"That doesn't matter. Were you expecting something?" Kate foxing past the issue.

"Well, if this was back like on the date of that newspaper. Then, where is the machines? Or like why are the machines not here? Why are humans doing jobs that machines do?" Perplexed then. Finally noticed that it was drooling and tries to study Kate intensely for any read of her. It was failing to see past any illusions being presented, swindled in perfectly.

"You were shocked when I explained about history, remember our conversations? I told you about the riots against machines and the nuclear protesting. I told you about the data wipe. I am sure that I had." The drink was loosing flavour as was the fading memory of it. She offered it across, poison took hold of it.

That slip of shock of how cold the clear plastic cup felt, the ice the chimed within it and the damp condensation. Poison did attempt to sip it, finding the flavour sweetly sour. Enough to make the thing cough. Putting the cup onto the table, the weighted nature of the drink being without balance, dropping to the floor. Ignored for now. The liquid splashed across the floor, ice spreading as trip hazard. It seemed real.

Kate picks a new drink from the table, a milkshake in a glass vase shape. It was covered in chocolate bits, a dark chocolate brownie and a lot of cream. It were complete with scoops of ice cream and long thin metal spoon. It was happy memories in such a fancy dessert, the children of her girlfriend always asked for it when they went on family outings. Kate's in a much calmer mood just having it to her hand, the condensation of the glass wet and cold. Nothing around them changes, and poison had to give in to playing along this test.

"You said something about cake, right?" It came to its own conclusion that this was all just a fake world and that nothing here will have textures. None of the food will be taste. The scent was just some fluke to convince it to stop acting like a machine, "It's been a long time since it been a conversation between just you and me." Kate putting her vase to the side of her, leaning over to direct about which cake did it want to try. It choose the strangest looking cake, the icing looked strange and the very shape of this cake didn't fit as a food item at all. Nearly plastic, the current program was struggling to render the texture of it.

Kate stares darkly a second, clearly it was a bad cake maybe or that she sturggles to recall it. She passed over a kitchen knife. She offered over a paper plate and a wooden utenisal. Poison with the knife made cute of it's own portion of this strange cake. When the knife made contact, it was white icing with two layers of yellow cake. A buttery vanilla scent about this cake. It lifted easy and very light, onto the paper plate.

"I lied about something back then... I lied to get into my job as a photographer of cell structures." Kate pulled the plate away from poison whom was egear to figure out if all of this was really fake, "Didn't I tell you how i ended up as a willing test subject for my goverment?"

"Well... no. You haven't even told your brother if i recall. He knew that you lied a lot often about things. He was asking me the other day about the whole having a wife and family back then." Kate had not meant to but the throw the plate at the cafe window. Just the meer reminder was hard to feel. She struggles to settle yet thankful that the simulation had interactive ghost images.

"Was there something wrong?" the waiter stepped up.

"I am so sorry, i thought i had a spider on my hand. I sort of flipped out... really sorry for the mess."

"No worries. We have it cleaned up, give us something to do when business is slow going."

"Thanks." Kate sitting back down, she passed over a new paper plate next to poison's model, "Sorry for that, I still cant get over that day. It doesn't help that the cake you choose is her celebration cake." The smeared cake on the window was purple frosting, a three layer cake with the core of the cake being a a different colour. The cake on the table although still the white icing, two layers and yellow cake was unchanged, "Wasn't that the day we met, poison? I am sure now of it. I know your not a machine or a program. So you can quit the poor acting."

"You really want to dare bring up a sore memory? What is you trigger a melt down?" Little did it realize that it was exactly that was needed.

The two stare silent with each other, the waiter back around with some cleaning supplies. sweeps and mops up, throws away the spilt lemon tea. the ice makes scrapping noise to the stone paved floor. A bike cyclist ring a bell as they rushed by. The air brushed their skin, letting fly a napkin that wasn't pinned down by a drink or plate. The waiter whom spoke before had only then just finished cleaning up, moving away to serve another customer. The only one whom continued any abnormal standing was Jackle, stood with his arms behind his back and with his head bowed to the table.

"You're name suits you." Kate leaned back more, causally flicking the straw which was suck through the top lid of a extra large polystyrene white cup. A red logo printed, obscured by her hand grappling it. It flexed in the strain of her grippling more and more tighter, "You have stolen my lungs, my heart, my stomach but not my gastral track. You added some sort of DNA that had no origin to this planets existence. You have nothing but poison to me... attacking what was left of my mental health. I haven't ignored the little nightmares you left me. I haven't ignored the little mind games you have with misplacing objects around me. The talking to my brother behind my back, the attempts to erase his memories... Oh and thinking I didn't stop you from making me toxic things." She crushed the cup as the image of her past melted into something closer to what was the current.

"Ouch!" poison hissed, the slight image of itself momentarily lapsed as something else for a few brief seconds. Yet returned back to the manufactured plastic dummy look. Kate narrows dark with the thing across from her, frowned in how it stolen someone's face. A ghost of someone she loved a long time ago, how aweful it must have been to be stuck with her own nightmares come true. The cup in her hand held no meaning anymore, disappearing in a spray of blue flakes. The very world was bleak and white around them, a new render was being processed.

The table stayed, as did Jackle standing emotionalless over it. Kate looked down at her own lap, waiting for the world to focus back as her mind did wonder to that time.

"I bet you know the turth... I even bet you know something I didn't." She grippled her own shirt, washing a old look of herself over. Someone with younger years and happiness. None that work broken heart ache or pain showed in this face. A illusion of what dreams do to us. Poison found itself standing in a slightly different area. A living room with attached kitchen, sepreatedd with a breakfast bar covered with plates of party foods. The soft images of children and some adults sitting along the living room area. Chatter about baby stories and laughter on the occasion.

"Are you sure you should be in the kitchen cooking?" mother-in-law coming into sharp focus, a warm hand that brushed poison's shoulder. A intractived program that is only replaying the moment, "You seemed to be struggling. Please. Let me help." The lady pushed gentle to have poison to the side to be guided to a stool, "There." Such a funny old lady with funny funky dyed hair colours, wearing dark clothing in spite of the baby shower. Not old and wrinkly but most totally expreinced and caring, "I wasn't sure about the whole relationship you two had back when she was in university. You two didn't seem right at all. Not exactly a shock to me that my own daughter would love women just as she did her men. I just didn't understand what she loved about you." Pouring a iced tea for the pregent image poison held, the face of someone this parasite stole, "I am glad that I wasn't hard on her about you. You really do work with her. Bring the best out even." Poking around with fetching a kitchen knife, opening draws and soon closing them, "Ugh, where do you keep the knives?"

"The magent strip above the sink." Poison had said on instictive recall, frozen a moment with putting a hand over the mouth. Shock that the voice that came out wasn't anything the pretending to be machine should sound at all.

"You must be exhusted, please don't you worry. It was [data removed] idea. She planned it all... cooked all the food. Did all the leg work. All you need to do is sit and look pretty." The ghost image finally spotted the knives and picked the exact same one as kate had handed over to Poison to slice the cake before, "Here, we should sneak a peak... what harm would it be for us to steal a slice? I haven't had this style of cake since we moved to this country. They just don't use the same ingredients or whisk the batter enough." The handle offered, "You should have the honour of finding out the gender." Purple frosting cake of three tiers, "She said it should be your favourite flavour."

Stiffly and with a lot of nerve, poison turned to study the cake... looking around the room at how everyone was laughing at the same jokes. So many folks here that were meant to be family and friends. None of it was out of place, not a single part of this moment of time seemed out of place. Not a sign of jackle... None of Kate looked as she should, well. She looked hot from all that cooking and effort. A real happy smile, no pain behind it. Not faking it. The knife in their hand was clean, reflective and showed that face. It tried to put the knife down... not wanting to continue playing out what was about to be - knowing just how horrific this was about to become. Knowing full well that the current Kate is somewhere here watching this.

"Well. It will be. Either. Blueberry. Or raspberry cake. I only have. One baby after all." the nerviousness jittered, forced movement of poison. Forced words that were harder to speak then as it was now in repeating. A warm hand on shoulder. The shiver, forced to point the knife over the cake. Softer then air to cut, smooth like butter. A small slice, the move of it to the ceramic plate... knife clicked. Shivering. This was about to be tell of just how much Kate knew back then... wondering not just the gender or flavour of this cake. Wondering if Kate whom baked it, knew the truth, the truth about how it wasn't a baby at all. The tunnel vision of stress taking over, smelling the slice - sharing the smell to the mother-in-law.

"I can't tell... blueberry or raspberry. Smells like" the knife blocked the next word, the soft collaspe landing. The involintary shivers came to peak, sores across the arms and torso opened. The shell of that meat puppet also feed to the maggots. The plate of the sliced cake dropped across the floor, a loud crash that follows flung metal pellets that did nothing. Sent back to were they were fired from, the fake family. The children bursted of maggots... the last to not was the one whom knew nothing of it. Maybe Kate wasn't whom baked it at all, givin how she screamed in this huanting memory. Blacked out from not watching the slaughter of things she loved... her mind made a lie for her to use later. She never actually knew the turth.

"This is what really happened?" Her image, second self sat on the counter surface. A hand picking up the dropped cake slice. She has a bite into it, "The flavour makes sense... not that I understood. Back then." She pointed a fork to her memory self, "I thought I ran out the house and never looked back." She spoke with her mouth full of the berry flavoured cake, "I didn't know it was going to be a sting operation. What a failure it was, although I can't blame it on them. They thought that normal bullets would work." She stuffed her face with a lot more cake and muffled spoke of a bunch words. It was heard to make out the point or what she was saying at all.

To be fair, her complextion looked aweful, oily even. The dark circles under her eyes. Volumes of everything about her was like she was in pain. How she held her arm in hugging herself. The despration to speak and stuff her face with food. The twitch of her left eye. She should have been in pain... sitting on sharp objects without care. The bullet shot through her right arm, as part of the real life like combat happening before them.

"I am sorry for all this misery. I was just doing what I was designed to do." Poison tore away that face for something underneath... 8 eyes, noodle like shape, craned neck. The teeth motioned as a mouth would for speaking, "I had no free will until I met you and now you no long just a meat shell I had to wear to pretend, to be the thing my owner told me to be." It looked across the chaos, stilling it even... as it didn't want to lie anymore.

"Well you stole my organs, i not going to be able to live long." Kate coldly announced it, "I should have died a long time ago... My orginal flesh should have metled. I should be black goop at the bottom of some box. It's you that keeps putting me back together. Flesh without working things within a body will simply decompose, as everything that died does."

"I liked you. You didn't just give me my freedom to make chooses. You taught me things that the other admins, owners and host were scared of. You told me how to think for myself. You weren't just teaching Jackle how to be indepndent. You taught me. SHowed me what horrible things I was doing. Things my currrent owner ordered me." it tail posed at it's mouth, tapping in deeping thinking. It was looking to say more yet it lowered itself. Bowed head to kate, "I am sorry but I understand that you can't forgive me. In fact, by your language definition - a biological weapon is a thoughtless disease that causes harm indiscriminately. I guess that wasn't wrong before you taught me things." It lowered more in pain of its own burdens, "I continued to use you. I started fighting back on your behalf. I may have made it worse. Killing you like this. Even now that I have found what remorse is, I can't see anything that would ever give you back what I took away. Nothing I can do would fix that past." Kate crunched up, knees draw in. She couldn't even look at it.

There was a sense of seeing this coming to this conclusion. No amount of technology was every going to make her live forever. This really was dying. There is a sense of remorse in her years wasted and years she can't to pass over all these new things in her mind.

Poison really was a sort of biological weapon made by some other race from beyond a solar system. That of being owned like a object was very much what all the parasites were. Used to shape life into monsters. A true purpose of why this is wasn't yet answered, nor will it ever be maybe. The life of this planet had no meaning to the invaders whom sent DNA altering worm parasites. These things were to poison the planets of lower intelligence.

System command given: ACR program shutting down, Dreamsim.exe filtering into hover drone interface controls. Client 1 locked out of all access, client 2 locked out of all access and status of patient is critical.

"I don't think there is nothing that your current techology or methods can do to revive this human back to a human." Poison stares right through puppet2, or rather the parasitic worm broken through the current remains within a metal box and posed its eight eyes inspecting the operation room... doors had metal mesh netting, window bars and overall was mostly sealed of no escape. It posed with looking at the slough of guck, "But I can sacfircie myself for her to take me because I own her that. I have no business with this world and I shouldn't have been used to wipe out a whole planet that could use nuclear fusion. That stuff is used to make ships fly lightyears fast... dangerious for a planetary surface to be contamintated with it. I guess you lot did succed in preventing those above from entering this atmosphere... they don't have any techonlogy to counter such horrid substances."

"How exactly does giving yourself to make her take your place be repaying any sort of guilt? It sounds more like your giving her your enslavement."

"That isn't true... You destroyed my control collar... or rather, you removed my bio trigger... you called it Ddc195. From your view of science, that infection wiped out something within cscc. And that is true, the virus broke the chemical membrane that protected the second brain. My second brain was dissolved, thus removing my collar to my master... my owner." It sinks in lowering back into the box, "I hope the copies of my knowledge and my past histories of other beings I was will be enough for you both. It's going to have to take Ddc195 to erase me and put her in my place." It posed with making this easier, "She can't become controlled as long as they don't capture her... tag her with that second brain."

"I wish I knew what she thinks about all this... if she really." Jackle shook with being unsure.

"She's the one with the memory of promising her wife to find a cure." Poison straightens this fact, "It was her deep internal mind, you could call that will power or soul or whatever. It said protect, save and educate. Such a beautiful dream." It shook and lowered itself for Jackle, "I took after her, as did you. Didn't you find that drive for something better worth any cost? I sure did." It lowered to look at her more, "I am sorry. I am sorry that I took your family and wife. Even deep down you know I caused it, you knew I was here this whole time. Confused as you might of what I was, you didn't want to kill. You removed that infant fluke, freezing to preserve it... not murder. The temperature you set that freeze isn't to kill, you knew it."

"Are you sure about this?" Jackle asking it.

"Humans call it a scrafice, don't they. One for the many - they say. You machines carry that same way of thinking too... You use yourselves to do the dirty work, not because your better for it. You still have some level of care about them, little as it may seem or viewed as. You prefer the heavy work because seeing a human snap thier spine is off putting." The lodgic of the arguement had rung about a strange way through Jackle. As he often asked his old freind Purple about why it does the job it has then having a job at a shop or something safer and less risk of harm, "I hope my update will be of great use to protecting her." Jackle a little backed off with that, "It's to teach you the other languages, hear them. It will make your job of watching her easier, wouldn't it? You can't lie to me with how you still message some unknown source about her. It doesn't matter that I told you that, she knew it before I did. She knew your little past with that 'sicko'. I am sure you will trust each other someday. You work to well together."

The nanotech had been given its orders, that of the thing inside the coffin like box melted the orginal brain areas, flowing the body cells to panic and snatch the next avaible donor brain. That of the nanotech working its hardest of breaking down everything to meer soup. The cocoon shell inflamed and hard set. Letting nature and microorgainisms play its magic. Well, the foregin adapted body that belonged somewhere else to start adapting a new hybird shape.

Jackle stood inspecting the whole process, not in just recoreding the events of how things worked but he was at the ready to murder if it was all empty words of a parasite. He was in conflict with himself about this, not really expecting to have such little talks with the parasite to off set his opinions. Shaking his resolve of what he really was meant to be doing.

He may not be in league with the sicko whom created Ddc195, but he was still reporting things to the mother network. Whom knows if that information was being used by the vault dwellers or not. Or found by hackers. Or used by the trillion under ice... sleeping in the vaults bellow thier feet. Not sure if the mother network was its own mind or just mindless system that is thin spread by the under the million ai / machines.

I hope it hadn't lied. I would rather be her warden then a worm that didn't want anything to do with this world. I guess that I hope she doesn't become that way either. When did I learn such a human notion? What a stupid question to ask myself, of course it is her.

Damn you, purple. Why did you have say anything about human love? You prick. She meant to only ever be my sister.
