1 The world we live in

It was a day like any other in the city of London. Citizens were proceeding with their jobs, and the weather was trash as usual. Every day was the same; workers going to work, traffic, students going to school.

London was protected by a barrier to prevent any type of demon to enter. Demons are the main threat since the beginning of 2021. Now, the year is 2040 and it has been 19 years since demons have been on the surface of the earth.

There are 5 demon classes. Class 1 (weak demons), Class 2 (Intermediate demons), Class 3 (Strong demons) Class 4 (super-strong demons) Class 5 (The godlike). Although it is rare for Class 4 and 5 demons to appear, they always send their spires to find human flesh and bring it to them.

When a threat alike first appeared, humans were defenceless, however, it was at the beginning of 2022 that humans started to evolve. Humans started to obtain mysterious powers now called blessings. Blessing are powers humans have managed to receive through evolution to increase their physical power, spirit etc.

Blessings are based around elementals. If humans elemental is fire, then his blessing with be based around fire elemental.

The ranger organisation which is located in Berlin also gives flying skates to the blessed ones to ease their transportation.

There are many types of elementals but the basic ones are fire, water, wind, rock, metal. These basic elementals create a branch of a variety of advanced elementals. Only 30% of the population have blessings, so this means any person who has an elemental is destined to become a ranger.

A ranger is a fighter who battles against demons and protects civilians. People train around the globe, in ranger schools, and countries compete to see which of the s

students in each country are better.

In London, the most prestigious ranger school is Dainsleif academy. This school is reputed to be the school where the strongest ranger has trained.

The world is now full of demons who we do not know what their ambition is, but we know the human's ambition is to wipe them all out. The battle between humans and demons has begun...

"Well then everyone, let's see if you read your books last night." Miss Canfield said cheekily. " Let me see, who should I choose... Oh, Jason!

Jason was at the very back of the class on the right side next to a square window. He was sleeping instead of following what miss Canfield was saying and she noticed that a while ago.

"Tell me, what are the different advanced elementals created by water, and tell me the probability for a ranger to obtain the advanced elemental." Miss Canfield asked Jason

Jason was 16 at that time, and he was at the age at which his elemental would be revealed to him. "Water produces the advanced elemental of acid which has a probability of 49%, blood, which has a probability of 12% and absolute control which has a probability of 0.1%" Jason responded.

"Very good Jason," Miss Canfield said satisfied with Jason's answer. " I would appreciate it if you could follow what I am saying during class nonetheless."

Jason was a handsome boy with black hair, brown eyes and an athletic body. The only problem was that he was so distant, no one realised how to fit or how handsome he was.

"Well then, this is our last day of school before you unlock your blessings and go to advanced training schools. Miss Canfield told her students sadly. " I would like to give you one last lesson. The amount of people with blessing is starting to go up drastically these past years."

A student called Rebecca slightly waved her hand because she had something to ask. Miss Canfield permitted her to talk.

"My father is a ranger and he said there were 5 classes of rangers. the F rank, the E rank, the D rank, the C rank and the B rank etc. you start getting popular when you are an A or an S rank. Is that true?" Rebecca asked intriguingly.

"Yes, it is, however, getting to such a high rank is a miracle already. Only a few rangers reach such prestigious ranks." Miss Canfield responded.

"All I know it's that there is no way I don't become a ranger. I am just too talented." Ella said from the front row."

As much as people hated her arrogance, she was saying the truth. Her blessing was revealed to her at the age of 14, and the only person to have a blessing that early before her was the one who is considered the strongest ranger.

Suddenly, the bell rang as the last day of school for everyone, and the beginning of a new journey for others.

" I will see you next week for your blessing reveal..." Miss Canfield told her students.

Everyone left the class and were at the school entrance. Some were waiting for their parents, and others were waiting for their friends or siblings to finish the class.

Jason on the other hand was already leaving when his sister appeared and jumped on his back making them both fall.

"Ahh! Kandice, what on earth are you doing; are you trying to send me to the hospital?!" Jason yelled.

Kandice always was a joyful girl who responded with a smile, "Don't get so angry, these are your last days as an ordinary person. In a few days, your gonna become a soldier."

"Don't be silly, being a ranger is a privilege that everyone should be proud of. I am not going to become a soldier, I am going to become a ranger." Jason replied while standing up and cleaning the dirt on his jeans.

Both Kandice and Jason headed home talking about their day at school. Once they reached home, Jason went to his room to have a shower.

Once he was in his room, his room his polo of, and looked at himself in the mirror. "In a few days, I am going to have my blessing revealed, but why am I not excited at all?" He told himself while looking in the mirror.

Jason went to have a shower and once he was done and put new clothes on, he went to the dining room to eat with his stepmother and sister.

Jason looked and his sister and stepmom who were wearing dresses and told them "Are you waiting for a hot guest or something?

"No you idiot, Trisha and I just wanted to celebrate today, because, in a few months, you are going to leave us..." Kalista answered.

"Don't worry, sometimes I won't even get a blessing. Don't get excited already, and even if I get a blessing, I'll come during vacation." Jason said to reassure them.

"Well then, that is very reassuring of you, but I wore this dress because I wanted to, not to celebrate you leaving. I would be glad to see you leave, that would be fewer bills for me." Trisha said sarcastically.

They all started laughing, and they began to eat. Once they were done, Jason went to his room, Kandice went outside to talk to the neighbours and Trisha was washing the dishes.

Jason was looking at the ceiling during that time and wondering "I am asking myself why I am not excited, well I shouldn't be excited in the first place. This job I want is dangerous, I could die. So I shouldn't be happy; the reason I chose this as who I want to become is to protect my loved ones and to find out what happened to Dad...
