Day 1

Lucas woke up feeling refreshed after a night of much needed sleep due to his two day non-stop gaming session. However, there was something strange as he could see a golden glowing symbol in the top right of his vision. He just shrugged this off and thought his vision might have still been a bit skewed due to staring at a screen for so long.

He got out of bed and lazily put on some shorts before leaving his room and walking towards the bathroom. Once he entered the room, Lucas stood in front of the mirror and put some toothpaste on his toothbrush. He then started to brush his teeth while admiring himself in the mirror.

Lucas was 5'11 and well-built despite being on the slimmer side, his hair was a dark blue which got slightly lighter as it went further down. He had his hair quite long and normally tied it at the back. Lucas also had pink eyes despite not being albino which complimented his attractive face.

As soon as he finished brushing his teeth, Lucas went back into his room to get ready for sixth form. He had already set his clothes out the day before to make it easier on his tired morning self who could not be bothered to go to school but knew that he had to.

His uniform consisted of his own suit as he did not have a specific uniform due to being in sixth form. This was a simple black suit with a white shirt and a black tie which was well fitted to his body.

He went downstairs to put his shoes on so that he could leave the house and walk to school. His shoes were plain black and smart looking, and they went well with his suit. Once he made sure everything was in his bag, Lucas left his house and started the short walk to school. This only took about five minutes, and his large school came into view.

He made his way through the automatic front doors and was caught in the storm of younger students rushing to their lessons. However, he was not swept away by them and continued walking towards the table that his friends normally sat on.

When he got close enough, Lucas called out to his friends, "You alright lads?"

The two boys, also in suits, looked back and each replied, "Took you long enough to get here." "Yeah, what about you mate?" These were Jacob and Tommy, Jacob was 5'9 and had short brown hair whereas Tommy was 5'10 and had wavy blonde hair.

The three stayed at their table talking for around ten minutes before a bell rang throughout the entire school and they had to go their separate ways to their lessons. Lucas had private study first, so he walked for a minute to the large theatre-like room and took a seat at the back. He pulled his laptop out and began to do his schoolwork.

However, he kept getting distracted by the strange golden symbol which had still not disappeared and was in fact glowing even more than it had been. He did not want to look crazy by inspecting it further, so he stood up and went to the toilet where he would not be disturbed.

When he got to the toilet, he locked the door behind him and focused intensely on the golden symbol, but this did not do anything. Although he felt it was crazy, Lucas attempted to touch the symbol and, to his surprise, it seemingly worked.

A golden panel appeared in front of his eyes and text was displayed, 'Daily Reward System Activated, Day 1 Reward Can Be Obtained By Checking Your Status.'

Lucas thought to himself, 'This is like something out of a novel, but I guess there's no harm in trying to see if this is real.'

"Status."

Once Lucas said this, a new golden panel appeared.

*Day 1 Reward Can Be Claimed*

Seeing this, Lucas was incredibly surprised, 'Could it actually be real? It seems like it is based on the screens. Maybe I should try claiming the reward it says I have.'

After thinking this, another screen appeared in front of Lucas, 'Day 1 Reward Has Been Claimed. Obtained Customisable Mammalian Familiar. These Potentials Apply To Every Being In Existence. Would You Like To Use The Item Now?'

Lucas thought to himself once again, 'Yeah sure.'

A huge screen appeared with a massive amount of choices and different aspects to choose from. The animals he could choose from were all mammals as the name would suggest, and it included every single mammal to ever exist. Lucas did not want to spend too long choosing, as he needed to get back to his lesson and only knew of some of the animals mentioned.

After scrolling for a while, Lucas made his final choice. He decided on choosing the South American Giant Short-Faced Bear. This was the largest species of bear to ever live, and also the most powerful. He customised the appearance of the bear to be dark blue in colour so it would match his hair, with pink eyes which were also the same as his own.

The part of the customisation that Lucas felt was the most important was the 'element' section which displayed a large amount of elements which the bear could potentially have if they were chosen. However, Lucas could only choose two for the bear to have. Lucas chose for the bear to have the element of 'Strength' which would increase the bear's physical abilities by a lot , as well as choosing the 'Moon' element which would give the bear the ability to use the power of the moon.

Lucas felt this was a good choice of elements as strength was necessary for a creature like a bear, and the moon element seemed mysterious and was more than likely quite powerful. Once he finished the customisation of the familiar, a small flash occurred and a baby bear appeared in Lucas' arms.

'Name Your Familiar'

Lucas thought for a second before speaking, "I'll call you Artaois after the God of Bears."

The baby bear clung onto Lucas' leg, "What am I going to do with you? I can't just walk around with a bear on my leg."

'Would You Like For Your Familiar To Take The Form Of An Item?'

"Well that's helpful, turn Artaois into an item."

Artaois was enveloped in a flash of light again, and a dark blue ring with a crescent moon symbol on it appeared where he previously was. Lucas picked it up and put the ring on his right index finger.

After putting on his new 'ring', Lucas went back to his lesson and went on with his say as if nothing happened. After what did not feel like very long, a bell rang and Lucas could leave his lesson.

However, he only had a fifteen minute break in which he spoke to his friends and ate before his next lesson. This lesson was History, and instead of not paying attention by reading manga like normal, he chose to inspect his familiar to get a better grasp of its capabilities.

Name: Artaois

Species: South American Giant Short-Faced Bear

Potential: King-Legend

Elements: Strength, Moon.

Level: 1

Moon's Blessing: All Stats Double At Night.

Stats:

Strength: 640

Endurance: 640

Magic: 640

Just by looking at his familiar's status, Lucas could tell it was immensely more powerful than him despite being a baby. This was due to its inherent potential which was relatively high despite not being in the realm of Gods.

As he was fully convinced of the system being real, Lucas hoped that the rewards he would receive in the future could make him stronger as well. Although there were not many massive threats on Earth, he did not know if it would always be that way due to the possibility of wars or even magical creatures now that he had a seemingly magical system.

Once he had finished inspecting Artaois, Lucas actually started to listen to his teacher before the lesson finally ended. Luckily for him, this meant he could go home and do whatever he wanted as he did not have a lesson for the last two periods of the day.

After saying bye to his friends and leaving the school grounds, Lucas walked home and took around the same amount of time to get back as he did to get to school in the morning.

He opened his front door, locked it behind him, and ran upstairs as quickly as he could. As soon as he got upstairs, he thought of changing Artaois back from a ring into a bear. This caused him to land comfily on Lucas' bed and start rolling around. Lucas let him stay there and stood up to get changed.

He put on a t-shirt and some shorts before going downstairs to eat food before taking a nap, as he always did after getting home from school. He went into his kitchen and opened the fridge, pulled out a pot of pasta, ate it quickly, and returned upstairs.

He immediately flopped onto his bed for what he wanted to be a short nap with a baby bear lying on him.
