DAY ZERO

Today was pretty laid back. Since my mom and dad were home that day and I had no chores, I decided to occupy the squeaky bloated sofa and catch up on Library of Heaven's Path (Chinese light novel). Hours in, I was obstructed from reading by my hunger. I did not have the energy to cook so I went to the cobwebbed corner of the house filled with a surplus of cup noodles that have not expired. I boiled 3mL of sink water and poured it into my cup of spicy shrimp noodles. Once my noodles were ready, I dispensed some pink clear coconut water and started to consume my noodles. Suddenly, I did not feel like reading my remarkable Chinese light novel but instead, wanted to conduct an experiment with the bulky materials available in the unorganized kitchen. I glanced into the glass door cabinet that was overflowing with various spices, starches, and dry foods. My glimpse landed on the large bag of pre-made small tapioca pearls. In my brain, I was speculating if I could conjure up large tapioca pearls by crushing and molding into bigger ones. I knew that I would direct my attention to this idea all day if I didn't try it out. So, I compressed the brown sugar tapioca pearls into brown powder and reshaped the powder into larger pearls. The first pearl I positioned in the boiling water filled pot crumbled into pieces but I learned that I should put each giant pearl in slowly to keep its fragile form. I lingered around the kitchen as the pearls hovered to the surface of the altered black boiling water in 5 hours. My sluggish little brother examined the pearls which converted to a black color and ate them. It turns out I cooked them right. This made me feel like nothing could vitiate my triumphant day. I soon realized my troublesome little brother ate all 3 of the huge tapioca pearls I made. I could not make more because it was already 6:45 p.m and my mom had to cook dinner. Thus, I decided to eat dinner to suppress my sorrow of not being able to try what I made.
