Tears - 15

After completing my shift in the Surgical ward, I again had posting in the medical ward. I went inside the ward and then looked at the patients file, the grandma was still there.

I monitored the vital signs and performed medications of the patients. Then I went into the grandma's room and monitored her vitals. Her blood pressure was very low, her breathing was irregular and her pulse was very weak.

I hurriedly reported to the senior sister. She said that grandma's vitals had been like that since two three days. Then the sister requested me to go by the grandma's room and sit by her side because she could die at any moment. I agreed and went to her room. Her son was sitting by her side and she was holding his hand. The other members of her family were sitting on the sofa with there heads down.

Everyone knew that grandma could die at any moment. All of us were silent, nobody could utter a word.

After a while,

The grandma lifted her hand and called her husband by her bedside. He stood up and sat beside her. Then she asked him to lean over. When he slowly leaned his body, she hugged him tightly. My eyes were filled tears. They just sat on the bed hugging each other. Looking at them, not only their family members but my heart also broke and my tears dropped. I turned back and quickly wiped the tears.

Such a lovely couple going to be separated, I couldnot, my heart couldnot watch them.... If only she was healthy, if only no one suffered from illness what a nice life it would be.
