Daily Flash Fiction

Collection of Flash Fiction. Genres ranging from romance and slice of life to fantasy and supernatural. Heartfelt and depressing. Short but fun, or sad. I challenged myself to write flash fiction everyday back in high school, November 2021. I would use a random word generator and pull 1-2 word/s from it to use as a writing prompt for the day. It's sloppy and maybe grammatically incorrect at times, but it's fun to see how much I improved. Updates Daily!

Words: Theorist, Choose

"What if…" as a faint voice reached our ears, desperation welled up. The ear splitting ring of steels colliding echoed, gradually getting closer.

The sound of running water enveloped around me, ignoring the other senses and reality itself. The nauseating aroma of the sewers, the sound of inevitable death, the shuddering of Kate as she clings onto me, the dimness of the sewers; everything seemingly disappeared without my knowledge.

Clang

A deafening noise snapped me back into reality. A girl dressed in rugged clothes draped in reddish liquid, carrying a redded metallic baseball bat behind her shoulders, sneered at us with a devious expression.

"... Clay would become my husband," she grinned, raising my chin with the end of her bat.

"N-n…n-no… " Kate, hiding behind me, said timidly.

Eve, the girl with long, unkempt hair, glared at me. With an abrupt movement of her leg, my world turned upside down, hitting my head on the pipes. Shit, that fucking hurt.

Quickly turning to her, Eve already broke the ribs of Kate. Kate fell, clenching her stomach.

"Say that again...," Eve pointed the bat to her forehead. "... and you'll get yourself a hole for a skull"

She hovers around us with the bat over her shoulders.

"You haven't learned your lesson. I tried my friends as an object for my entertainment. Teasing them, joking with, laughing with them…" she approached me with the most mischievous smile I've ever seen.

"...experimenting with them, playing with them…," she placed her hand on my throat, tightly closing it ever so slowly. "...torturing them, killing them"

She let go, finally had a chance to catch my breath. I was once again saved from the crutches of death. I sometimes think maybe it is better to accept death.

"Don't you remember Alvin, Martha, Abbie, Orion, Zoey, Omar? Our teachers, the principal, the janitors, the guards? All of them were my friends. I had fun with everybody. Now, they live with me. Inside me. Don't you want that too?"

Eve raised her bat, threatening to break the back of Kate's head.

"STOP!" I roared.

An abrupt swing hit me. My vision started to fade away. I fell to the warm waters as I witnessed the last moments of my waking life; Eve's blood soaked expression, glaring into my very soul.

"You love her too much. Are you even my friend?" She raised her bat and sneered at me. "Me or her? Choose wisely, Clay "

"Fuck… yo----"
