1 Chapter 1 | Death Streak and New Life

"That's the end of the class."

Packing up her things, Rei was on her way to her home. The day as always was peaceful, mundane and nothing much happening. As expected of the gloomy and dark sky, it started to rain. 'Rain feels nice but shit, I forgot to bring an umbrella.' she thought to herself.

Taking the usual route in a hurry, she didn't notice it until it was too late. Almost like a fated meeting, they bumped into each other. Just like that, she was hit by a truck and died.

Opening her eyes, she woke up in a strange room that had a raised platform in the middle, on the platform was a 6 piece Patio set that had 4 chairs and an umbrella table. There was also a huge fortune wheel besides it. And on one of the 4 chairs sat a beauty. She had bright blonde hair, light blue eyes and wore a white chiton dress. Walking up to the platform where the woman sat and sipped her tea. Rei was taken aback as she suddenly heard a voice in her head.

"That marks your 300th death." said the voice in her head.

"Since you have met the requirements, you may be able to remember a portion of your past life." continued the voice.

"So what do I do now?" she asked.

"Spin the wheel or you are free to have a cup of tea with me." responded the voice.

Walking up to one of the chairs, she sat down. As she sat down, a tea cup moved towards her seat and the tea pot started floating before pouring some tea.

"So, what is this place?" Rei asked.

"I don't know." replied the woman.

After a short pause, she continued.

"I've been here for as long as I can, marking people's deaths, answering their queries and things like that."

"What is that Fortune Wheel?" Rei asked

The woman answered, "Its a device that shall chose what species you shall be born as." The woman then poured another cup of tea after asking Rei about it.

"Do you ever run out of tea?" was a question that the woman hadn't expected.

"Never in my life have I ever ran out of tea while using this tea pot. I am still looking forward to the day that it happens."

"Do you have any idea how it works?" replied Rei.

"No clue in the slightest, I've tried to open it but it won't budge." was the response she got.

"I guess I'll get going on my way now."

Walking towards the giant Fortune Wheel, she called out to the woman and asked-

"Isn't this a bit too big for me to be able to spin?"

To which, she replied: "Just touching it will do."

As told, Rei once again walked up to the Fortune Wheel and touched it, the moment she did, she pulled back her hand and watched the wheel spin at a very high speed. A couple seconds later, the wheel was still moving but a very slow pace that did nothing but increase anxiety, nervousness and curiosity.

Watching it land on a bird figure really surprised her. Before she knew it, she was no longer in that realm, she couldn't see anything either. Feeling a hard surface, she tried to push it. Little did she know, by doing that, she ended up falling off the nest and died just like that.

"Oh my, wasn't that rather fast?" said the woman.

"Ugh.. So now.. do I spin the wheel again?" Rei asked.

"The same as before, you can proceed when you're ready." she answered.

"How many times do I still get to reincarnate?" Rei asked before touching the wheel.

"Infinite, as long as the world doesn't collapse or reset that is. Its just, normally people get random abilities on their death. You happened to get one to help you memorize stuff faster and a lot of those in fact. When people get a buff they already have, it does nothing but increase your potential unless you have a certain amount of those buffs. Like your situation, since you have 250 mental enhancements, you can recall your memories. What you do after gaining this will be analyzed and the requirement for this may be changed but you will still have access to it." she replied.

After finishing what she said, she suddenly stopped sipping her tea and opened her mouth again and said, "Ah! You sometimes also get something that degrades your potential. That way the balance is maintained."

"By the way, is there a way for me to see the chances and what races are on the wheel?" Rei asked.

"Hm. Sure. The chances keep changing though. The higher the birth rate, the higher the chance. Some beings like dragons often live by themselves and rarely have off-springs so getting that race is very unlikely. By the way, if you want to become a vampire, you can wait for 2 days and the next blood moon will start for 12 hours. During that duration, the chance of being a vampire will rise exponentially."

Taking another sip, she continued, "You can also have mixed races like half elf, vampiric monsters, et cetera. Beings born during the Blood Moon have a 10% chance of being a vampiric one. You can read the notes given along with the races and their current birth rate or chances."

She then proceeded to refill her teacup and continue sipping on her tea. Rei on the other hand was looking at the paper given by the woman. She was surprised to see the numbers vanish and be replaced as the stats of races and chances of races changed moment by moment. 'The vampiric species was normally 0.1% and the blood moon just boosted it by 100 times. I wonder if there are ways to boost chances of a certain race.' she thought to herself.

Walking up to the Fortune Wheel, she spun it once again and it had landed on human whose chance was currently at 36.4%. This time, she didn't close her eyes as the light enveloped her. There was nothing to be seen. When the light died down, she could see a woman and a man in a well furnished room. And just like that, her 302nd life started.

'This country better not be in a war. I finally have a desirable form.' She though to herself. The first 2 years passed pretty fast. It was rather mundane. Just her being baby-fed and some accidents happening to others and her witnessing it. Normally, a baby wouldn't remember all these but it was someone who had a ridiculous amount of upgrades to her mind-related abilities. During that 2 years, she managed to learn the language. Her official education started after that. The words were either similar or gaining that many upgrades boosted her linguistic skills. She absorbed everything like a sponge. Her learning rate was in fact, higher than how fast the tutors could teach. After 5 years of being inside the walls of the mansion, on the verge of death due to boredom, came out Rei or now known as Elaine von Valenstein.
