28 Duel

"Fine. I'll grant you this mercy and kill you myself."

Jason hung up and saw that everyone else was still there.

"You're planning to fight him one on one?" Rose asked

"Hmm."

"Why? We have the advantage. We know where he will be. He can kill him easily. There is no need to risk your life."

Rose just couldn't understand why Jason was doing this. He had already won the day. He used his cunning to outplay everyone already.

Jason shrugged his shoulders. It was embarrassing to say out loud but he knew Rose would try to stop him if he didn't say it.

"My pride won't allow me to simply kill a man of that caliber that way after he has asked for a duel. But I also can't allow him to live. So I'm gonna deal with it myself."

Rose couldn't understand what was going on in Jason's mind and the Prime also made her empathy levels drop to nearly zero.

"Fine. But the moment that I see a single League assassin approaching, I'm giving the order to kill him or I'll put the bullet in his head myself."

Jason agreed readily. While he didn't want to kill Cain relying on numbers, if the man decided to be shameless after requesting a duel, then he didn't mind killing him using his full power.

Jason turned to the rest of his... guests in order to address anything else they needed.

"As you guys heard, I'm about to go out. And I don't like leaving strangers in my house when I do so..."

Vandal Savage took his men to the roof without a word. He didn't even say goodbye to his daughter who had left with a complete stranger without asking her a single opinion of hers.

"Got it. I know when to leave," Deadshot said before heading to the elevator, the other members of the squad following behind him. The only one that stayed behind was Harley.

"Mind if I join your gang for a little, Red? Me and Mr. J are on a break. I want some place where I can smash some skulls and kick some ass. Plus, I don't mind joining your little harem for a bit if that's what it costs," Harley winked at Jason and she shook her curves

Jason rolled his eyes behind the domino mask. He could also feel the killing intent coming from Rose.

'Guess I can borrow other Rose's power cause I'm pretty sure that I can see my death if I answer Harley with anything but the truth.'

"Sorry to break it to you Harley but I'm not into having relations with multiple women."

"Then what's up with all these other gals around you?"

Jason felt a headache coming on. He knew that he needed to start recruiting more males to his side in order to clear up the misunderstanding.

"Ballistic and Velocity are powerful metahumans that I believe will be very loyal so I brought them in. Scandal shows great affinity with leading and I need someone that can command with me since Rose is the only other person that can do that right now. And Knockout is a heavy-hitter that I am sorely lacking at the moment."

Each woman by Jason's side was important for certain reasons.

Harley nodded and looked at Jason expectedly.

"Fine. You can stay with us for a bit but I will kick you out if I see the Joker anywhere nearby..."

"You won't. I swear," Harley promised. "But. My girl, Ivy, gets out of Arkham soon. So she might be needing a place to stay."

Jason grunted at Harley. He couldn't deal with talking to her when he had 9 minutes to go meet Cain.

Jason stood atop the construction site, across from him was a man in all white. The latter had a gas mask on his face which obscured but Jason knew who he was.

The White Ghost. The Orphan. The Strongest Man Alive. This was David Cain.

"I'm surprised you showed up and didn't put a bullet in my head from afar."

"I was told that I should. But what is a man without pride?" Jason responded

"True. So let's settle this."

David pulled out a detonator and pressed the button. Explosions could be heard from below but none that seemed like they had destroyed the foundation. At least outright.

"This place will collapse in 30 seconds when I am done speaking. I'll only need half that time to kill you."

Jason activated his Sandevistan and the world turned green before he began rushing toward Cain with a knife in each of his hands. But before either blade could touch him, Cain raised two knives of his own to match.

"What? You didn't think the Demon would not come up with anything to counter that toy of yours? Made sure to take an injection of something nice just before we started."

Cain kicked Jason in the chest which resulted in a loud thud and clang.

"You didn't think you were the only one that came prepared, right?"

Jason and Cain clashed once again. And again. And again. They exchanged over 50 moves in only 5 seconds.

Cain had the advantage in CQC skills but Jason's superior armor kept him in the fight.

24 seconds left: Cain was able to disarm Jason of one of his knives. He was then forced to use his cybernetic arm directly

22 seconds left: Jason dropped an object onto the ground. Cain noticed that it looked like a grenade but nothing he had seen before. Jason brought his focus back into the fight with an elbow to the chest

19 seconds left: The grenade detonated and released a bright flash of light. Jason activated the pile bunker in his arm.

18 seconds left: Jason swiftly moved forward while Cain was blinded and stabbed forward with his pile bunker. With a boom, it ejected a shell from his arm as the spike stabbed into Cain's chest faster than he could react

17 seconds left: Cain pulled out his gun and shot 3 times at Jason's chest, piercing through his armor with the special bullets inside

16 seconds left: The pair wanted to recover but refused to give the other the chance. Therefore, there was another set of clashes between them

13 seconds left: The floors began to shake as the ground became more and more unsteady

10 seconds left: Jason's Sandevistan began to malfunction due to being overused which resulted in him getting a knife in his left eye.

7 seconds left: Cain had been stabbed two more times by the pile bunker while Cain had emptied the other 2 shots from his gun into Jason's cybernetic arm and left leg

4 seconds left: The floor began to fall apart. Neither Jason nor Cain paid attention to it

0 seconds left: The floor had completely fallen apart. The duo was falling through the air while still engaged in combat. Both were bleeding from each of their orifices due to the drugs and Sandevistan. But neither had died yet so the battle hadn't ended

-1 second left: As they were falling through the air, Jason threw 3 knives into Cain's body. He was able to stab into his heart, throat, and head.

-4 seconds left: Jason was near the ground. He brought out the grenade launcher from his arm before firing it at the ground beneath him.

- 10 seconds left: The entire construction site had collapsed. Velocity had run over when Ballistic and Rose told her the duel was over.

The redhead arrived on the scene to see Jason's body atop of a pile of rubble with Cain's lying not too far away.

The armor on Jason's chest was pretty much destroyed and he had severe injuries to his body. His mask was also pretty damaged while Jason's cybernetic arm was ruined. But at least he was alive.

Cain's entire body had been stained red in blood. Whether it was his or Jason's didn't matter. Because the 3 knives in his body and the way his neck was bent would have told anyone that he had lost his life in the fight.

Velocity picked up Jason's body and carried him away. She had already been told the next safe house location where Rose and the others would meet her when they could. But that day, victory was theirs.
