5 Biotech and Bioware

Jason got back home and threw the 3 grand in cash he had saved into his dresser drawer. This time, he split the cash and eddies closer to a 70-30 split, keeping nearly 8500 to upgrade himself with. And he planned on spending it all on Biotech.

Biotech was an expensive type of upgrade that one could get but it was very limited. Each person could only get up to 2 upgrades of each type and they each cost between 1600 and 5000. Bioware was in a similar vein as each one of the upgrades was very useful but also very expensive.

Jason first bought a Biomonitor for a hundred eddies and had it installed for another 10. The main purpose of this in the world of Cyberpunk would allow a person to check their heart rate and other health matters. But with the system, it also gave the bonus of allowing Jason to view his stats.

There were 7 main stats that a person had. Body determined how strong and fit you were, Humanity helps in understanding how close they were to becoming a Cyberpsycho, Attractiveness speaks for itself, Movement Allowance is how fast a person can run, Intelligence is a measure of your problem-solving ability; figuring out problems, noticing things, remembering information, Reflex covers a person physical coordination and dexterity, while Cool was one's mental state and how well they can handle stress.

Humanity depended on the other person and their environment so the numbers and limits were random while attractiveness was pretty self-explanatory. The other stats also had their own limits per person but could be increased by different methods.

Jason's Stats:

- Body Type: 3/8

- Humanity: 7/274

- Attractiveness: 6/10

- Movement Allowance: 3/7

- Intelligence: 4/10

- Reflexes: 3/7

- Cool: 5/7

'Hmm. These are actually better than I expected. My body is very poor due to my old lifestyle but the rest are average or above for someone my age. My cool is especially good.'

Now that he had a good understanding of his stats, Jason could buy the upgrades he wanted without fear.

2x Grafted Muscles in order to increase his body score: 2000

Preparatory DNA mapping so he could get Biotech installed: 2700

Body Limitation increased to break the natural limit Jason had on his body: 3400

Installation for grafted muscles: 200

Total: 8300

Jason saw the money he had just earned go away even faster than he had earned it. But before he could wallow in the pain of losing money, Jason was again overtaken by the pain of having something installed once again. Every muscle on his body was upgraded which meant that his entire body had to be remolded.

This time, Jason was able to stay awake through the process but his bed was covered in sweat once again. When the process was over Jason checked out his stats. He saw that his body had gone from 3/8 to 5/10.

'Nova! At least now I won't completely get my shit rocked when I go train with Bane.'

Jason felt the shirt on his back about to rip apart. He stood up and walked over to the mirror and was surprised by what he saw.

Jason had grown from 5'6 to 5'9 and the muscles on his upper body had swelled. Jason had gone through his own Captain America experience, although not as buff.

'Woah. How come my attractiveness didn't go up cause I look amazing?'

Jason kept looking at himself in the mirror, admiring the work he had done to his body.

Jason jumped on his bed as he began formulating plans for the future. At first, he just knew that he wanted to be free and he needed strength to do it but now he knew that his freedom would be very expensive.

Not only did he have to pay for all his upgrades, but he also had to constantly make sure that his skills were up to par. He kept wanting to deny it or play it off but Jason knew that he would have to face Batman in the future. And he currently had no chance of winning.

'If I'm gonna survive in this city, I need something that all the other criminals have. I'm gonna need a crew.'

No matter which villain it was, if they were in Gotham, they had a crew of people following them. Even the crazy Joker had ride-or-die men under him.

'The question is if I want a gang or a crew. A gang would be larger and allow me to hold turf but that means that I gotta compete with other organizations and pay to outfit them with my tech. A crew means fewer mouths to feed but it also affects how much I can spread my wings.'

Both options had their pros and cons to them so Jason wasn't sure about which one he wanted. So he put it to the back of his mind.

'Agh! Too fucking confusing. I need a break!'

Jason grabbed some of the cash he stored in the dresser before heading out of the apartment. Even though it was still late in the night, Jason decided that it was better to buy clothes now than later.

The teen left his home and returned to the Night Market. But instead of heading to Nick for another job for the night, Jason went deeper inside where lots of people were selling their ill-gotten goods.

Jason ignored all the guns and drugs since he had better ones in his system. He could have also gotten some clothes but Jason couldn't afford to be spending Night City prices on some clothes he would outgrow in a few months. Plus, he wanted to show his new body off more.
