Parting

Geralt might be altruistic enough not to take payment for helping someone make sense of an existential crisis , but he wasn't stupid enough to turn down armor made from a powerful dragons scales. He knew that even if Alex was much different than the black dragons in his world he was still a very powerful monster with a powerful defense. While geralt couldn't see himself wearing a set of dragon scale mail he could still give it to someone else just like Alex said. "This won't cause you any problems right?" Geralt asked seriously.

Alex shook his head 'Nah , I can freely shed and regrown my scales so it's no issue to get rid of some of them for your gift.' he reassured honestly. 'So which do you think you'll settle for Tess or Yennefer? It was something of a debate back on my old world so I'm rather curious.' Alex asked leaving Geralt speechless. "I don't see how that's anyone's business but my own." geralt said defensively. Alex chuckled 'if it helps I personally believed you shouldn't have to choose , but rather take both of them for yourself.' he said while acting all wise and knowing.

"Fuck off!" Geralt said gruffly but he had a small grin on his face despite the curse. The two headed back to astera after that since the rest could wait while Geralt needed to start his investigations as soon as possible. Alex obviously didn't leave his people back at the third fleets base but he made sure to leave Geralt at the smithy before heading back to get sized up. The rest of the day was fairly relaxed however as Geralt geared up to go looking for anything that had came here from his world which actually took most of the day.

Alex even hunted down a diablos in order to treat Geralt to his personal favorite type of meat he had eaten so far. Thanks to the head chefs masterful preparation Geralt admitted how envious he was at the quality of food in this world even as he drank several mugs of master ale. The next day Geralt officially set out to look through the ancient forest since that was where the necker was found originally. Zain was also out in the ancient forest during this time making sure that none of the usual large monsters were there to cause Geralt problems much like in the game.

Alex meanwhile was making sure that the smithy had enough scales for the mail that was going to be given to Geralt. Alex hadn't kept this gift quiet either so more than a few people were a bit jealous of Geralt for getting something made from Alex's scales. Alex proceeded to make them all feel bad by saying that they could have armors made by any monster that was hunted while Geralt was leaving soon after he finished his hunt so his reward was equally special.

The second fleet never fails to deliver so by the time Geralt returned from confronting the leshen a heft bag of coin and neatly folded black scale mail set was ready to be handed over. One last shared meal together and Geralt was ready to return to his world the next day. Much like in the game he passed up on the zenny however he did take the scale mail set. 'Don't be a stranger Geralt , if you ever want my help you know where to find me.' Alex said before Geralt left earning a nod in return. An interesting thing to note was that the fire magic runestone Geralt left behind for Zain completely rejected fire type energy from Alex.

Alex had hoped the two power systems were compatible but clearly that wasn't true much to his disappointment. Still Alex could only chuckle when he thought about the storm of questions awaiting Geralt when he gave the scale set to one of his loved ones. Alex wouldn't honestly be surprised if Tess or Yennefer showed up one day out of curiosity. If there was one thing that those two had in common it was their insatiable curiosity about new things that might be better not understood.

I got a lot of hate for the last chapter but I honestly don't see why. Like it was a bit fillerish but that shouldn't be the reason why everyone seemed to dislike it (I hope so anyways) so can someone explain what the big deal was , I am honestly lost.
