Custom monster system

I would like to make it clear first that there will be absolutely NO romance in this story so don't ask for it because i will ignore those comments. also the alternate story starts from chapter sixty eight if you just want to skip the old short story. No one ever expects to be reborn with a system despite the many tales of precisely that happening. alex certainly was no exception to this rule despite finding himself reborn into a world with monsters considered gods by some as a lowly gecko with a system. The alternate story starts on chapter 68 in case you wish to skip to the part that is still continuing. (Cover by HoracioGui)

Misunderstanding

The last jagras was confused after the little wyvern stopped and merely stared at it until it simply thought no more as Alex skewered it's skull from behind it. The little one stared at the muscular black claw that had casually extended out of the shadows behind the jagras in awe. While it fought tooth and nail to kill this group of jagras Alex merely dispatched one of them effortlessly. Zain walked into the area as well as Alex appeared out of the shadows smoothly. "I don't really think the little guy needs any hunting experience sid." Zain said honestly.

'Nonsense , he was wasteful and inefficient in his hunting and this needs to be fixed while we still can.' Alex said seriously. Zain was taken back by this statement as he hadn't seen anything unusual with how the little wyvern hunted. "What do you mean?" he asked curiously. 'First was the opening ambush of his that he didn't capitalize on to attack one of their throats but rather one of their sides instead. Second was how he tried to brute force his way into victory but only ended up getting several injuries because of how much faster the jagras were when a careful approach would have worked much better.' Alex explained seriously.

"I think you may have some misgivings about how monsters are supposed to fight mate." Zain said honestly and Alex cocked his head to the side in confusion 'how so?' he asked. "Well people like you or I hunt based on skill and efficiency but for normal monsters like the little one it's all about brute force and power. If I had to guess you were probably projecting your own standards onto the little one when his mind simply isn't built to work like that." Zain explained with a shrug.

'That actually makes sense , It seems I may have been forgetting my own uniqueness.' Alex thought to himself seriously. 'I see , I will keep that in mind from now on.' he reassured Zain calmly. "That done we can now figure out where to go from here since clearly the little dude doesn't need our help adjusting." Zain said seriously. 'We can always just spend a few hours gathering materials while letting him handle the pest that show up.' Alex suggested after a moment of thought. Zain thought about it and found this to be an acceptable idea and nodded in agreement.

And so the group spent the next five hours scouring the section of the ancient forest that were in for materials like medicines and ammo creation plants. Any time they came across a group of jagras Alex would show the little wyvern how to kill quickly and brutally by grabbing the throats of the things. Zain didn't say anything about this since there was no real downside to teaching the little one to end fights as quickly as possible. The little wyvern quickly and eagerly copied Alex and was thrilled about how much easier it became to kill the jagras.

Alex had even taken it upon himself to eat every sleep herb he found as well as all the parashrooms in order to get a trait he really wanted. [Tranquilizing poison] was the trait he generated and unlocked through his effort. What it did was allow him to create a special blend of poison that acted in much the same way as the tranq bobs the hunters used. The reason he wanted this trait was because unlike the tranq bombs that were set at a certain level of potency he could upgrade his poison to even greater effects.

This meant that while elder dragons were mostly immune to the normal version of the stuff he has a chance to knock them out with his own version. This unfortunately also meant that the cost to level up the trait was massive at a huge consumption of two thousand of each ingredient each for the next level. The group made their way bac to astera after that with Alex carrying the large amount of materials in a makeshift net that Zain crafted from some sturdy vines. The trio were thanked for the supplies before making their way up to the canteen for some food.
