83 Hunting trip

[Fire resistance] did not level up at all from being in the smithy for a week after that likely because he was entirely unaffected by the high temperature of the air alone. This left Alex with a dilemma as he had a sneaking suspicion that the trait would require him to actually physically get into contact with literal fire. Alex was , understandably , quite reluctant to do such a thing. This lead him to focus his effort on completing the [armored scales] trait and leveling up his wings to a usable level , which was level three as it turned out.

It was a sort of instinct really as the moment the trait hit three Alex had the sudden feeling he could use his wings finally. Alex wasted no time dashing out of the town in order to fully stretch his wings without causing trouble. While quite a few people wondered what had him in a hurry only the admiral seemed to notice the defined musculature of Alex's wings and get an idea of what had Alex so excited. "This i've got to see." the man said chasing after Alex seemingly more excited about what alex was going to do than Alex himself.

The man couldn't be blamed either as Alex's first flight could be considered an important moment in history as the only elder dragon on the peoples side. A crowd gathered to watch after seeing even the admiral taking an interest in whatever Alex was doing. This didn't bother Alex as he was far too excited to care about other people at the moment. When he finally got into the small clearing outside astera Alex wasted no time following the instincts about flying that had appeared and stretched his wings out fully but high up.

In a single forceful movement Alex flapped his wings for the first time with a violent {SWOOSH} causing him to pop off the ground for a brief instant. One flap after another sounded out as Alex slowly began to rise into the air higher and higher at a slight forward angle. The people of astera burst into cheers seeing alex in the air even if incredibly unstable. Alex quickly learned that without the muscles specifically made for flying he had a couple large problems while he was in the air. The first was that his front limbs simple could not be used at the same time as his wings since at the moment they shared a set of back muscles.

The second his that he had no fucking clue how to fly , in fact most of his time in the air was spent figuring out exactly how to control his flight. Thankfully the system didn't leave Alex in the lurch with incomplete flight instincts letting him quickly adapt and improve. The next day Alex finished the requirement for the [armored scales] trait setting at only needing two more traits in order to grow larger once more.

The short flight yesterday showed Alex how badly he needed that flight muscle trait as he was drained of energy thanks to the inefficient back muscles working extra hard to keep him aloft. Interestingly enough when Alex unlocked the [armored scales] trait he didn't actually need to wait for the effects to become pronounced as he actually shed his skin moments later. Thanks to the fact he grew scales under his old skin Alex merely needed to scratch the shed off revealing his new scales. The new scales were longer and much more dense than the previous ones making alex as a whole slightly heavier , not that he minded.

'I am finally ready to follow one of the hunters into the forest to hunt a wild wing drake.' Alex thought after seeing the more sturdy scales covering him. 'While it's unlikely that the hunters will allow anything to happen to me it was still a good thing that i didn't rush this trip.' he thought seriously while testing his new scales with his own tail spike. the spike scratched the new scales when swung at his full force showing their exceptional defense despite only being level one.
