78 First monster

The next morning Alex woke up and decided to go eat a thing he had seen when he was exploring the reef next to astera , a jellyfish. Now to most people this was an odd target but Alex remembered that jellyfish on earth had a number of frankly over powered traits such as the fact that some of them were technically immortal. Alex wasn't hoping for this type of trait however since the way it worked would probably force him to revert back to an infant over and over again forcefully , not matter how you look at it that would suck.

No , the trait that alex wanted was the regenerative trait that jellyfish had were they could survive and recover as long as their organs weren't destroyed. such an ability would increase the chances of Alex surviving all of the future events by a considerable margin. The sea was a bit choppier than when Alex went swimming previously but it wasn't a problem for Alex since his target was below the water. The biggest problem for Alex was how cloudy the water was near the shallows from the stirred up sand that hadn't settled down before getting tossed up again.

The deeper Alex went though this quickly stopped being a problem as the moving of the surface water no longer affected the sand at the bottom making the water much clearer. There floating lazily next to the reef in the gentle current was the white almost translucent jellyfish species that Alex had previously discovered. This was a small group of only thirteen individuals so Alex casually swam up to them and opened his mouth and mercilessly tore out a mouthful of jellyfish. the flavor was surprisingly bland with a consistency similar to eating grapes.

"Rejected! nope! none of that!' Alex vehemently denied the trait that he actually generated and much to his surprise the system listened as the trait and it's requirements vanished from it. The reason Alex rejected that trait was that bones were part of the reason animals could do the things they could as well as the fact that bones literally kept most animals from being blob monsters. The mere implication that Alex would be getting rid of his bones was enough for Alex to not take the chance and get rid of the trait.

'What a waste of time!' Alex complained mentally before leaving the group of jellies alone to try and find a better target. That was a lot harder than you may think not because there were not enough but the opposite , there was simply too many. Anyone who had ever seen a thriving reef in person would tell you that there is hundreds of different species to be found around them and Alex was looking for the next ones to eat. It was at this point that alex met his first true monster since coming to this world , a gobul.

Gobul's were monsters with a similar body structure to an angler fish as most of its head was comprised of it's massive mouth filled with long sharp fangs. The monster was famous for it's habit of burying itself and using its bright head piece to lure people near it before sucking them into it's mouth. Alex saw the glowing head piece sticking out of the sand along with a not very well concealed mouth and set of small yellow eyes. 'Yeah not getting anywhere near that , like ever.' Alex thought as he gave the monster a wide berth and went the opposite direction.

Soon enough alex found a target that interested him enough to choose it over the others , a strange fish with thick armor-like scales along it's body. 'The best defense is a good defense after all' Alex joked to himself as he approached the fish roughly the same size as him casually. The act worked as the fish didn't panic when alex drew close to it. {SNAP!} Alex latched onto the fish this his jaws hard and grabbed it to the best of his ability with his claws as it panicked. {SHLIK!} The spike on Alex's tail swung around before accurately sinking into the fishes eye and then brain killing it.
