46 A distrust

Soon the time for the nergigante hunt arrived as freya showed up determined to kill the elder and alex knew it was time to put down this thorn in his side. he knew that this nergigante was likely to flee if it caught sight or smell of alex so so he created a scent remover powder in the system. the rest was merely controlling the metal on his body to have the crystal blue stuff on top to camouflage him against nergigante's poor eyesight. it worked to as the thin light blue layer made noticing him next to the crystals of the recess while he was still very hard even for humans.

Since alex knew where the nergigante was going to show up at he stealthily made his way over to that area and positioned himself on a nearby bed of crystals. besides his wings and tail alex blended in perfectly like an extremely large chameleon. his disguise was so good that it made freya fearful as she knew he was hiding nearby but couldn't spot him until he waved his tail at her to show her where he was sitting.

Freya was dreading meeting obsidian again once the news of him developing the ice elements came into astera. her biggest fear had come true and obsidian had grown into a monster with almost no weaknesses meaning if it ever came down to it killing him would be a near impossible task. as if the dragon being as smart as a person wasn't bad enough he also had peak level power in all regards. people were only able to survive and retaliate against monsters because of their intelligence and creativity but when a monster has that same intelligence the only advantage people had was removed.

This was the reason any intelligent monster that ever cropped up was killed shortly after it was discovered. freya had gone out of her way to look for the records about intelligent monsters much like every other hunter when obsidian was introduced to the public. not a single hunter in the old world trusted a monster in any regard without seeing them personally. sure they were happy about having an elder on their side , but as for personal trust? nonexistent. it was far too engrained into their minds that monsters were the enemy for them to completely believe in obsidian not to turn on them.

After having interacted with obsidian personally for a pretty decent amount of time freya was able to trust the dragon to some degree. her hunter life style however made it difficult for her to fully trust the dragon though so she maintained a degree of caution around the creature. alex knew this but didn't care since he had no intentions of getting himself in the cross hairs of this woman. he was aware that she would eventually kill even the likes of alatreon and fatalis. so until he was firmly in the realm of unkillable she had nothing to worry about.

Obviously he wasn't going to explain this since that would be a quick way to get hunted zealously. so while she was following the trail to the crystal covered entrance to nergigante's nest alex just charged his tail spike with electricity to give nergigante a nasty surprise when it arrived. the shear amount of power in the foot long spike made it incredibly hot to the point the tough crystals under it began it liquify into magma. the equivalent of an entire think bolt of lightning was stored in the spike waiting to give nergigante a very bad day.

Alex watched patiently as the same scene from the game happened with the gajalaka's fleeing from nergigante who was busting through the crystals like the cool aid man. freya flinched and covered her face when the crystal burst outwards towards her and dust filled the area. she watched as nergigante cleared the dust with his wings and roared at her territorially. the moment nergigante roar alex flicked his tail spike forward at the speed of sound to take advantage of its distracted state. the world seemed to turn white in freya's vision as the tail spike struck nergigante in the wing and erupted with it's intensely focused power.
