Angelic Hierarchy

Angels, like the Demons of the Abyss, have a strict, biologically-enforced hierarchy that divides them by rank.

For Demons, the rank is based on the purity of one's 'blood', which allows a Demon of greater rank to suppress its inferiors with bloodline domination.

But for Angels, who actually do not have bloodlines, there is no forced compulsion or any other type of mind voodoo. Lower ranks obey those of greater rank out of their own willingness, either by respect or social norms.

This ironically means that direct insubordination happens more often for Angels than it is for Demons, though this isn't to be confused with actual betrayal and or deceptive schemes.

In the case of Angels, insubordination is mostly just the refusal of certain orders and whatnot due to their own moral reasons. 

However, even if they are not forced to obey, they will know that it is still better to, just like how a child would know to obey their father.

Angels are innately aware of the hierarchy and will instantly know another Angel's rank just by looking at them, even without the inherited knowledge from the birthing ponds, it's a kind of 6th sense that has been imprinted into their brains.

Instead of the bare-bones hierarchal system that the Demons adopt, which is designed to be simple so the Low-ranks could easily understand it, Angels have a more complex ranking system.

The whole system is divided into 3 Outer Circles and 1 Inner Circle, with each circle being comprised of 3 Angelic ranks.

On Alexander's original earth, and the reader as well as the author's earth, the first two ranks have been confused for 'Angel' and 'Archangel'.

This is an error made by the inhabitants since only Angels of that rank have descended upon those low-level worlds, making the mortal think that Torchwoods are Archangels since they were obviously superior to their Spark counterparts.

Here is the list of all Angelic ranks and their strength compared to Demons, from weakest to strongest:

3rd Circle

Spark = Adult Low-rank

Torchwood = Middle-rank

Principality = Half-step High-rank

2nd Circle

Power = Bottom High-rank

Virtue = Highest of High-ranks

Dominion = Army of High-ranks

1st Circle

Ophanim = Low Demon Lord

Cherubim = Great Demon lord

Seraphim < Demon King 

Inner Circle/Throne of God

True Archangel = Demon King

Cardinal Angel = Deadly Sin Demon King

??? = ???
