16 14 - How Is This Possible?

There are several types of people in this celestial multiverse.

The first was the people who would spend the effort on getting five pieces of gold ingots just to create a golden helmet so that they didn't have to commit any crimes.

And then, there were the 'people' who would kill children without a sweat as if it was a mere Friday for them.

For the supposed Hero of Hyrule, Link's expression did not once change as he sliced through a nearby Bokoblin, decapitating it as if it were a mere block of exotic butter.

That was the mother.

The Angel widened his eyes as he sensed a large amount of Mana condensing in the Hero's left hand, a bright blue light erupting between his fingers.

It was similar to Alexander's own usage of Mana Sponge, albeit far more refined...

Another Bokoblin, probably the enraged and traumatized father, foolishly charged toward Link's position with a wooden bat in his hands.

The Hero stepped back as he dodged a descending strike from the Bokoblin's bat, with a blank look, Link abandoned whatever it was that he was originally cooking with all that collected Mana and used both of his hands to swing the claymore.

*Shing*

With a clean and well-practised slash of his great blade, the Bokoblin's chest was torn open, his many guts and innards vividly spilling out like the feathers of a torn pillow.

The claymore was redirected in mid-air and was then simultaneously used to precisely slice open the monster's throat, the Bokoblin father collapsing to the floor not long after, his club harmlessly rolling away from his now outstretched hands.

"Hm." Link released a wordless gasp of air as he took in large amounts of oxygen into his respiratory system, the grip on his claymore tightening as he gazed toward the crowd of Bokoblins, the blood of the slaughtered pigs noticeably staining his exposed chest as if he were a butcher.

The Hero's eyes rapidly gazed back and forth as if he was assessing the danger levels of everyone nearby, the Bokoblins surrounding him like moths to a bright lamp.

Porcine squeals and shrieks filled the air like a pollution of noise as the Angel drew closer to better observe the Hero, though still staying out of sight.

"...Steve?"

The Angel was confused for a few seconds as that guttural voice resembled nothing like what he imagined Link to sound like but realized that it wasn't him.

It was one of the Bokoblins.

That's right, he could naturally understand them, he could understand everyone.

Alexander had almost forgotten about it, but he had indeed conversed with the monsters of Ganon earlier.

Monsters...in hindsight, perhaps it was foolish of him to think of them as mere NPCs like they were in the games. He would have thought them to be mere constructs of Ganon's magic, but...

They even had names, and Steve...really? The name of an orcish pig-faced warrior is Steve of all things?

Alexander gazed at the bloodied Hero, with none of the blood being his, then looked down at the sliced-up corpses of those monsters...

That was a...family, cut upon in seconds without remorse as if they were just morsels of meat and bone.

But empathy wasn't the dominant feeling building up inside of his mind as the Angel gazed at the bloodied remains.

No, it was confusion...

Why aren't they disappearing?

Bokoblins...no, every single monster in the game would rapidly wither away into black smog the moment their heart stops beating.

These are clones, magic-based chimaeras composed of Ganon's malice that literally took physical shape and came to life just to wreak mindless havoc across the kingdom, at least, they were supposed to be.

They didn't even have any Souls, Alexander would know, he could see Souls!

...Well, he couldn't really see Souls before they left their physical bodies, but seeing as not a single Soul arose from the Bokoblin corpses, it was safe to assume they didn't have one.

"Knife-eared killed Steve!!!"

*Shing*

So why did they feel...?

Why on earth did Ganon give their brains the ability to pump emotional hormones? Why did he grant his Souless soldiers feelings? It makes no sense!

Is he that cartoonishly evil? The Angel doubted that even the most wicked Demon Lord of the Abyss would do this...this...it's inefficient in every sense of the word!

"...Paul, Paul!? No, Paul dead too!!!"

*Slash*

It would make sense if they had Souls, he could perhaps gain power from their karmic suffering or something...Demons, even if Ganon wasn't a real one, could probably do that.

But they didn't, they had no Souls, they were like the undead, or Homuncli, just made of dark magic or whatever it is that Ganon wields in his Gerudo balls.

"JUMP HIM!!!"

*BOOM*

Alexander ignored the pig slaughter Link was commencing as he gazed upward, back at the menstruating celestial body.

The Blood Moon...it was slowly fading away and turning back into a regular full moon.

He wondered for a moment, did Ganon truly resurrect each and every one of his fallen minions every time a Blood Moon occurs?

Seeing now that the Bokoblins could actually reproduce...Alexander double-checked as he gazed down at the multiple severed heads of the slaughtered Bokoblin children.

Seeing as they could have very real children...wouldn't Hyrule be completely infested with his monsters?

Sure, they were here and there and in every corner of the map, but not to the point where they would collapse the surrounding ecosystems.

And that makes no sense at all, the monsters have been here ever since the Calamity, and even before if you counted the wild monsters that were born in Ganon's first Blood Moon...

The Calamity was supposedly 10000 years ago, the first Blood Moon was probably an order of magnitude above that!

If the number of monsters never permanently decreased due to the periodic Blood Moons, and were instead, actually increasing due to their natural reproduction...

How has humanity...ehm, the Hylians and the other races of this world not gone extinct yet!?
