13 12 - The Calamity Makes Its Move

So this is it...

Alexander had no issue reaching the very top of the tower, the challenges that someone like Link was supposed to face were rendered null due to the existence of his wings...

The Angel's winged form hovered just above the platform situated atop the tower, the whole top portion of the tower resembled a kind of cup or grail with an altar in the middle that sat below what resembled a mechanoid wizard hat or the upside-down ass of a bee.

This entire structure's function was to act like a kind of radio tower or satellite for the Sheikah civilization, transmitting...radio waves? Not quite, but something similar in that sense.

A tendril from the Angel reached out to touch the glowing engraving on the wall, it depicted a singular unblinking eye, the symbol that those Sheikah chose to represent themselves with.

He could feel the thrum of Mana deep inside, a continuous vibration like that of a beating heart could be felt through the smooth surface as his tendril couldn't help but be at ease.

Alexander remembered that this tower, as well as all the other technologies wielded by the Sheikah, that being the Guardians and such, were powered by some type of substance those guys called Ancient Energy.

Such creative naming sense...Alexander would have named it something cooler had he been in charge, Cold-Blooded Tears or something like that due to their appearance...

CBT...

Actually, maybe not.

Regardless, this CBT energy inside felt warm and familiar, for it seemed to be a liquid concentrate of pure, unblemished Mana.

Alexander couldn't help but pause as he reconsidered that thought.

A super-duper shiny and mysterious liquid composed of highly purified Mana? Was that not the secret to reaching the High-rank of the demonic hierarchy?

The Angel distinctly remembered that his demonic counterpart had pulled a stunt to seize for himself a liquid concentration of pure Mana much like the energy before him...

Could this supposed Ancient Energy be that exact substance?

Although it was never discussed in the novel, due to the protagonist being on the opposite side of the cosmic war and all, there was a large probability that an Angel also needed this substance for one of their later promotions...

If that was the case, then perhaps, this Angel had fallen from Heaven straight into a gold mine, ouch!

There was also the unavoidable possibility that he was just tripping balls and that this Ancient Energy was similar to a High Demon's liquid power, but not quite the same.

It's usually never this easy, after all...

Alexander floated down from the tippy top to better inspect the altar placed in the middle of the platform. It much resembled a kind of control panel or something similar, but Alexander knew that it was truly a gateway to a databank.

Link had a nifty called a Sheikah Slate, which is literally a Nintendo Switch-shaped archaic phone, and most of its features relied on linking itself to this tower's databank.

Primarily, the mapping feature, go figure...

Alexander briefly considered if he should create a skill to connect with the tower and get all that sweet data, but stopped as he realized that would be a waste.

Just get Link's iPad, he probably wouldn't mind if Alexander burrowed it for a bit and if they ended up not being allies, well...

He'll just ask even more nicely, that ought to work.

Honestly, the man used to a medieval life would probably end up worshipping the Angel if he whipped up a finger-licking Domino's pizza with the System.

On second thought, Alexander would absolutely hate that. Being worshipped in that heretical manner felt deeply wrong for some subconscious reason, it's as if his body itself reacted viscerally upon even the notion, let alone the practice.

"Hmm...?" A soft and familiar light attracted the Angel's attention as he gazed to the side, it was the sun, and it was already half-devoured by the horizon.

'Ah, just how long has it even been since I was born...? Feels like a couple of hours, probably not even—' He paused as he felt a slight rumble, reminiscent of the previous one that had demanded him to break out of the chest.

He turned to the source, the castle of Hyrule's capital.

It shook as the darkness below it continued to leak like gas, forming miasmic clouds Alexander could swear were moving around like some kind of serpent.

It is a serpent, a boar-headed cloud of malice that moved like a serpent, constricting itself against the castle of fallen Hyrule much like a huge python would with a mouse deer.

Calamity Ganon.

The very manifestation of the supposed Demon King's magic. It's a puppet, an avatar of sorts that the guy under the castle uses to mess with the surface world.

The Calamity Ganon stirred and awoke, flying around the castle as the gloom and malice erupted with gooey rage, but then it suddenly stopped.

And then it looked directly in the Angel's direction, all of the bestial fury it previously showed quickly vanishing, replaced with a gaze that possessed intelligence behind it.

Alexander held his breath as he kept eye contact with the Calamity. The ever-pregnant silence continued for a few more seconds before the beast reared its head back and released a draconic roar that shook the very earth.

It then collapsed in on itself, disappearing into miasma.

"...What the hell was that all about...?" Although there was some worry in his voice, Alexander knew that the Calamity wouldn't go for him, lest Ganon's true plans be ruined.

But that intelligent gaze...it was distinctly different from the Calamity's usual behaviour, could it be him who was looking at Alexander? The chained king under the castle?

Regardless of who it truly was...the consequence remained the same. The great forces of this world were now most likely aware of his arrival, this wasn't necessarily bad, but Alexander would have preferred that it was the side of the greater good that expressed it first...

He stayed silent for a few moments, considering what he should do, but then stopped as he gazed upward, feeling an unusual sensation crawling down his form.

'Why is the sky having a period...?' But then he realized it.

The moon...it was bleeding, and it was bleeding a deep red...

Blood Moon.

A/N Corner:

Wow, I just took a look and turns out, we're competing with fanfics with 600k+ views while we only have a measly 170k, yet our power stone count is equal to theirs...

Good job, baby boys.
